Berry’s Blog Challenges

In science, a Meme (rhymes with “theme”) is a self-propagating unit of thought that is spread from one host to another. Richard Dawkins invented the term as a kind of idea-gene. Like genes, as Memes spread they mutate or die. For bloggers, Memes have become synonymous with internet quizzes, challenges, surveys, and novelties that people link to and pass around on their blogs.

TV Show Meme

Please Note: this is my last Monday Meme for a while. I’ve been very busy with school and work in real life these days and having some trouble juggling everything so I’ll be putting my Monday Memes on hold for a few months. Hopefully in July I should have more time and be able to start doing them again. I will of course continue to blog whenever I can right now, just the Monday memes will be on hold. Thank you all so much for participating in them, I really appreciate it!

Can you guess which TV Show I was inspired by?

TV Show Meme

Meme instructions: Take a picture in Second Life inspired by any television series. You can dress up your avatar or have decor that is similar. Don’t forget to leave a link to your image in the comments of this post and also share it in the Blog Memes Flickr Group.

I admit that I am totally cheating for this meme because I didn’t do the decor myself and I actually haven’t even seen one episode of this TV show. I got the lovely Inara Pey to help me out with this post since she is an avid fan of the show. If you haven’t guessed yet, my post is inspired by the BBC Series Sherlock Holmes.

I don’t watch that much television so this is one of the shows I haven’t seen, however I was contacted by Omenapu Resident who told me about Second Life resident Darius Godric. As you can see from Darius’ flickr, he is a huge fan of the Sherlock Holmes series and has not only made his avatar look exactly like Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes, but he has remarkably replicated his apartment in the series.

I asked Inara to pose with me for the images since she explained all of the little details in the apartment that match the series exactly. Especially the severed head in the refrigerator. Who keeps a head in the fridge? Obviously Holmes does.

This little video clip of the series shows his apartment in more detail and also explains why Inara and I are pointing our guns at the wall:

So don’t you think Darius has done an amazing job of bringing this into Second Life? Are you a fan of the show? A big thank you to Omenapu Resident for telling me about this place and to Inara Pey for showing me all the little details and posing with me. Here are some related links:

Double Threat Meme

(click here for a raw shot) Today’s meme has nothing to do with the urban dictionary definition of double threat. I stole this meme from an old real life blog, but kind of changed it up a bit for Second Life residents. Meme instructions: Share your answers to the following suggestions. Don’t forget to link […] Continue reading →

Mean Comments Meme

(this is a raw shot) I recently saw a TED Talk of Monica Lewinsky‘s where she addressed the topic of cyber bullying. I know what some of you may be thinking. It’s Monica Lewinsky, she’s someone who fooled around with a married man. Why should we be listening to her? She was in her early twenties […] Continue reading →

Me, Myself and I Meme

I’m on spring break and have family visiting so this week’s Monday Meme is a bit delayed but quick, easy and possibly a little painless. Sometimes pain can be good though so I’ll make sure to torture you guys more next week. (click here for a raw shot) Meme Instructions: Copy and paste the following […] Continue reading →

Second Life Motivational Meme

Have you guys seen those motivational posters before where people take an image and put a black border with some motivational text around it? These posters are supposed to have positive behavioral effects. I thought it would be an interesting experiment if we got together and created some positive motivational posters for Second Life. Then […] Continue reading →

Movie Character Meme

I was recently watching a movie and then Mr. Jefferson and I started chatting about how much we both loved it so of course I had to get us to dress up as the main characters and turn this into a meme! Can you guess which movie I’m talking about and which characters we are? Meme […] Continue reading →

#SecondLifeProblems Meme

This week’s meme idea was given to me by none other than the infamous Mr. Draxtor Despres. The idea is based off of the real life hashtag #FirstWorldProblems where people share and complain about problems that aren’t actually real problems. It’s all kind of hilarious. You can check out the #FirstLifeProblems and #FirstWorldProblems hashtags on […] Continue reading →

The Death Meme

Although it’s my birthday today, these pictures have nothing to do with the theme of this meme, and it’s pretty morbid of me to talk about death on my birthday…I couldn’t resist. I don’t think about death that often, but when I do, I know it’s going to be some weird insane way that I’m […] Continue reading →
