Before I start with today’s meme, I wanted to talk about the picture. Today’s image has nothing to do with the meme itself, but I just wanted to show off my new materials-ready cyber gauntlets that Sion Pearl sent me. Aren’t they totally sexy? I had to go all out and make a sexy cybergirl with mesh corsets and all. If you’re using a materials-ready viewer then you’ve got to pick up a demo and try these babies out!
Now on to the meme, last week I asked you guys to get really creative so I thought this week I would keep it simple and easy. I might get a sim and actually buy a house and furnish it. But I have a feeling I would get bored and drop the project in the middle. I am so boring. :-/
Have you ever bought something in SL and then realized afterwards that you had already owned it from before? Yeah actually that happens to me quite often. One time I went to this awesome pose store and bought a whole bunch of poses and props then totally forgot that I had done that and a month later I went back to the same pose shop and bought almost the whole store again and then went home and realized that I had doubles of it all now. This is my SLife.
Have you ever done anything in Second Life that would be considered illegal in real life? No, I am totally virginal and angelic! OK FINE! I may or may not have broken into someone’s home and took pictures sitting all over their furniture, not telling whose or where or when or anything else though! :P

What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done inworld? Hmmmmm, there are so many things…where do I begin. I remember one time I was with someone that I had a major crush on, but we were just friends and he was showing me a new sim and I accidentally removed my top and then I was lagging so it took me forever to put my top back ON and this whole time he was laughing and snapping pictures. Yeah, this embarrassing stuff just comes naturally to me.

Before I start talking about today’s Monday Meme I just wanted to address something. Every week I have someone messaging me saying that what I’m doing every Monday on my blog is not a meme, it’s a blog challenge. I absolutely understand that these are not “typical” internet memes, especially the ones I’ve been doing lately. I admit, I did start with typical BLOG memes that consist of a series of questions that people can answer, but now it has evolved into poetry and other challenges. I don’t mind that because it’s something different and refreshing to see and read. So from now on, to make those that are annoyed with the fact that I keep calling them memes, lol, I will change it up and sometimes write meme, or challenge or nothing at all. I do however like the idea of calling these “My Monday Memes” because it has a nice ring to it and keeps me disciplined about doing them every Monday.
Anyhow, now that we have gotten the explanation out of the way, let me go on to the challenge for this week. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, but I was afraid it might be frowned upon for copyright reasons or something. However, I’ve spoken to a few people about it and since I’m just inspired by the movie poster and not actually copying anything directly from it (I’ve used my own images, logos, wording and even changed the fonts) and also since I am not “selling” anything, it should be ok. My SL movie poster is of course inspired by “There’s Something about Mary” one of my favorite movies!

It is really hard to get the avatar to bend like this without a lot of distortion and I also had to adjust my shape quite a bit. I can hear all the groans and moans already, LOL! I TOLD you it was going to be a tricky one this week. I got this idea because I do this often with my students. They are very simple and easy and don’t need to rhyme or make any sense at all (just like Haikus). I figured since so many people had fun with the Haikus, you guys might also like this one. I did struggle a bit because I felt it was difficult to describe myself in the poem, so I asked another one of my bratty friends for help, and they did, which I’ll share later in this post.
Before we go any further, let me explain the Acrostic. An Acrostic Poem is a poem in which the first letter of each line spells out a word. It’s something I’m sure you did as a child and probably had a lot of fun with it. I’m hoping you’ll enjoy doing one for your SL name or anything to do with your SLife. I even did one for “Second Life” and I’d love to see people do that as well and express how they feel about it.
I used the ReadWriteThink’s Acrostic Poems website which helped me a lot to get it all organized and then I ended up saving the file from there and exporting it into an image file. If you are having trouble coming up with a poem on your own, you can be a total cheater and use the Acrostic Poem Generator which actually writes one for you. I used that for my name as well and will share that later too.

For the past few weeks I’ve chosen somewhat difficult memes and for next week I have something really challenging planned. Therefore, I thought that this week I would keep it short and simple. Do you speak to your SL friends outside of SL? I do, on social networks, via email and other chat/im programs such as gtalk and skype.
Are you part of a community or family inworld? No, I’m not. I used to be a regular/hostess at certain clubs back in 2007/2008 and had a group of people I used to hang out with on a regular basis but that sim is no longer and we’ve all seemed to have gone our separate ways. I’ve never been part of a family or roleplay community though.
Are you usually around a lot of people or do you spend most of your time alone inworld? I would say I am mostly alone (when I can be). However, I do spend a lot of time with clients as I have a few photoshoots each day. But I don’t consider that as socializing, just work. I do try to get as much alone time as possible though, as I like peace and quiet so I can concentrate on my pictures and blogging. I was a lot more open to being social earlier in my SL but lately I prefer to be on my own. I guess I like the solitude because I’m usually surrounded by my family in real life so SL to me is kind of an escape from people and things.
I know it’s rather strange of me to not be as social inworld, especially since SL is a virtual world where people go to be more social. But I guess I’m kind of over that aspect of it and I just want to focus on other things. I do try to participate with community projects and challenges though within the blogger community. One challenge that I am kind of looking forward to trying is the Avatar Blogger Month in June. You can check the iRez blog for all of the details about that and I hope you participate in it as well!
For this post I wanted to create a soft and peaceful image with a relaxed theme, because that’s what I crave in my virtual world. The pose and arbor in this picture are from this month’s Zodiac Gemini. The dress was at FaMESHed this month but now you can find it in the Zaara mainstore.

Today I thought it would be a fun idea to do a meme where everyone can share a bit of their talents.
Meme instructions: Blog a tutorial and teach me something that you think I might not know about (even if I do, doesn’t matter, do it anyways). The tutorial can be something within Second Life (how to build, create tattoos or clothes, pick up guys at info hubs, tie your virtual shoelaces, whatever…) or something in Photoshop or on any social network (just focus on something sl-related somehow). Make it informative, make it hilarious, make it whatever you like! I’d just love to learn something from you that you may be good at and are willing to share. I decided to teach you guys how to create animated gifs using photoshop that you can use in your blog posts or on plurk.

Steps to Creating Animated GIFs using Photoshop CS5
Create a new document and put each frame of the animation on a different layer.
Open the Animation window, by going to the Window menu and then choose Animation.
Modify each frame as desired, if needed.
Select the delay time for each frame.
Save your GIF. From the File menu, choose “Save for Web and Devices” and choose GIF from the drop-down menu. Select Preset GIF 128 Dithered and hit save.
Please note that animated gifs do not work on Flickr, so I had to upload this week’s picture to my blog itself, I usually host my blog pics on flickr. So that’s my meme and tutorial for today. You can find more of my tutorials on my Tutorials page.
