In science, a Meme (rhymes with “theme”) is a self-propagating unit of thought that is spread from one host to another. Richard Dawkins invented the term as a kind of idea-gene. Like genes, as Memes spread they mutate or die. For bloggers, Memes have become synonymous with internet quizzes, challenges, surveys, and novelties that people link to and pass around on their blogs.
Meme instructions: Take a picture in Second Life inspired by any television series. You can dress up your avatar or have decor that is similar. Don’t forget to leave a link to your image in the comments of this post and also share it in the Blog Memes Flickr Group.
I admit that I am totally cheating for this meme because I didn’t do the decor myself and I actually haven’t even seen one episode of this TV show. I got the lovely Inara Pey to help me out with this post since she is an avid fan of the show. If you haven’t guessed yet, my post is inspired by the BBC Series Sherlock Holmes.
I don’t watch that much television so this is one of the shows I haven’t seen, however I was contacted by Omenapu Resident who told me about Second Life resident Darius Godric. As you can see from Darius’ flickr, he is a huge fan of the Sherlock Holmes series and has not only made his avatar look exactly like Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes, but he has remarkably replicated his apartment in the series.
I asked Inara to pose with me for the images since she explained all of the little details in the apartment that match the series exactly. Especially the severed head in the refrigerator. Who keeps a head in the fridge? Obviously Holmes does.
Please remember that you can participate in any of the challenges at any time. You’ll find them all under my Blog Challenges category along with other memes and challenges I’ve done over the years. You don’t have to have a blog to do this challenge, you can share your image on any social platform.

Don’t forget to link […] Continue reading →
(this is a raw shot) I recently saw a TED Talk of Monica Lewinsky‘s where she addressed the topic of cyber bullying. I know what some of you may be thinking. It’s Monica Lewinsky, she’s someone who fooled around with a married man. Why should we be listening to her? She was in her early twenties […] Continue reading →

This week’s Monday Meme is brought to you again by Mr. Draxtor Despres. He was having a conversation on twitter with a friend who stated that Second Life pushed him into learning 3D modelling. I’ve done two memes about blogging already: Why Do I Blog Meme, in 2013 and My Blogging Journey Challenge in 2014 therefore I felt it was time to do one for 2015. Have you guys seen those motivational posters before where people take an image and put a black border with some motivational text around it? These posters are supposed to have positive behavioral effects. I thought it would be an interesting experiment if we got together and created some positive motivational posters for Second Life. Then […] Continue reading →
I was recently watching a movie and then Mr. Jefferson and I started chatting about how much we both loved it so of course I had to get us to dress up as the main characters and turn this into a meme! This week’s meme idea was given to me by none other than the infamous Mr. Draxtor Despres. The idea is based off of the real life hashtag #FirstWorldProblems where people share and complain about problems that aren’t actually real problems. It’s all kind of hilarious. You can check out the #FirstLifeProblems and #FirstWorldProblems hashtags on […] Continue reading →
Before I get into talking about the challenge this week, I wanted to give a bit of a background on The Satorialist. This is one of my most favorite real life blogs. The blog is run by Scott Schuman who began carrying a digital camera around on the streets of New York City in 2005, […] Continue reading →
(click here for a raw shot) The new year has started and I have made the decision to bring back my Monday memes and blog challenges regularly, mainly because I really missed doing them. They actually help me stay organized and focused, not only with blogging, but with my RL school work as well. I […] Continue reading →
Although it’s my birthday today, these pictures have nothing to do with the theme of this meme, and it’s pretty morbid of me to talk about death on my birthday…I couldn’t resist. I don’t think about death that often, but when I do, I know it’s going to be some weird insane way that I’m […] Continue reading →
