12 Years of Second Life & Second Life Yearbook Challenge!
Today is May 9th, 2019, which is also my 12th rezday. If you donāt know what a rezday is, itās the date you created your Second Life avatar. So itās kind of like your avatarās birthday. 12 years ago today I stumbled upon Second Life and fell in love with this virtual world!
To celebrate my 12th rezday, I’m bringing back my Second Life Yearbook Challenge. This is the fifth year in a row that Iāll be doing the yearbook challenge. To participate in this challenge, all you have to do is take a portrait style photo of your avatar and share it on any social platform with the hashtags #SecondLifeChallenge and #SecondLifeYearbook. If you share it on Flickr, please also add it to the new and official #SecondLifeChallenge Flickr Group, but please do read the rules of the group before doing so.Ā Feel free to add your images to the Second Life Yearbook Flickr Group as well if you like. Hopefully, some Linden Lab employees will also be participating in this challenge. Check out Xiola’s yearbook challenge picture below. You can also see my yearbook images from 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015. Looking forward to your yearbook photos!

SL16B: Speaking of birthdays, Second Life will be celebrating its sweet sixteen this year. Sixteen years ago, on June 23rd, 2003, Second Life launched to the public. SL16B festivities have already been announced, and the celebrations will run from June 20th, 2019 through July 8th, 2019.
Fran Seranade’s Celebration of Life: 92-year old Fran Seranade was a beloved Second Life Resident, who had Parkinson’s, and was the original inspiration for the Creations Park region in Second Life. She passed away on March 3rd, 2019. On May 11th, 2019 from 11am to 9pm SLT, a celebration of her life will be held at Savoy Ballroom in Creations Park. By June 1, 2019, a memorial honoring Fran and this celebration will be located in-world at the Savoy Swing Era Museum, and will be available online at SavoyBallroom.org/fran. For more information about this event, check their website. This event will benefit Team Fox for Parkinsonās Research. You can also watch The Drax Files: World Makers [Episode 13: Creations for Parkinson’s] which featured Fran in 2013.
Second Life New User Tutorials:Ā I’m currently working on a series of tutorials for new users, which will eventually be posted on the Second Life YouTube channel. The first tutorial of the series will be out soon, perhaps next week. In the meantime, Linden Lab has released the bloopers that were made from the first tutorial. It was great fun working on this with Xiola Linden: https://youtu.be/kUfPQOzzCPQ
My Second Life avatar over the years: I wanted to share my Headshots Flickr Album again because I love the way you can see how much my avatar has changed over the years.
Unfortunately, everyone spells it wrong. Her name was Fran Seranade (https://my.secondlife.com/fran.seranade).
Happy Rezday! Again, you’re one of the few people whose rezday’s I remember because it’s the same as my RL birthday.
Thanks Berry, nice timing, I just fitted my first mesh head (I know, Ive been thinking about it a long long time). Happy to take a profile shot today.

Happy Rezday!
Hello Strawberry! Just a note to let you know that although I’ve joined, and subsequently uploaded a yearbook photograph twice now to the SecondLifeChallenge – Official Flikr group, it has been removed twice. It does not violate any of the group rules, so I’m not sure what’s happening there. I thought it might be good to let your other readers know that they might not be ABLE to get their portraits onto that site.
I love the idea of your challenge – and wish I could participate. It would be good, when photos are removed from the SecondLifeChallenge – Official Flikr group, if folks were told WHY this was happening.
Hi Strawberry, missing you!!! like your amazing fashion reviews and your unboxing videos…but oki I hope you are like getting fun in your new job š
Wishing you a very happy (and very belated) rez day!
