Second Life Avatars Challenge
In May, it’ll be 12 years for me in Second Life, and I’m still as addicted as I was the first year. Sometimes I think perhaps if it wasn’t for this blog, I wouldn’t be logging in as often. Maybe? But honestly, it’s not just that.
In the past couple of years, I’ve dabbled in many different virtual worlds such as Sansar, HiFi, Sinespace, VRChat, etc… and honestly, there are none that let me create such beautiful and diverse avatars. Second Life content creators are some of the most talented around.
You may have noticed for the past couple of weeks I’ve been on a mesh head blog post binge. What amazed me was how different I can make my avatar look every single day. I love it. It’s incredibly enjoyable and really inspires me to get creative. I have also created a page with a list of all mesh body parts that I have blogged.
So here’s my challenge for you: share images of your Second Life avatars. I would prefer closeup headshots, but they don’t have to be. You can share images of as many avatars as you like, I just want to see the diversity and creativity. You can share them in the comments of this post and/or the #SecondLifeChallenge Flickr Group. (UPDATE: I’ve limited the group to 3 images per account and please if you share more than one image, try to make it of different looking avatars, thank you.)
I wear so many different heads these days that I don’t really have a set avatar that’s ‘me’ so I decided to go with a few looks that have been my favorite recently. I may do it with my male avatar too, perhaps in a few days. I hope you get the chance to participate.

Shirley, you can’t upload in this comment section but you can share a link to the image wherever you upload it (on any social network or photo sharing website) like Ponino shared her flickr link above. ^
I would love to participate but, It’s way too costly to buy heads and skins and all you need to recreate your avi in second life.
Your avatar doesn’t have to consist of mesh heads and body parts to participate in this challenge.

It’s interesting that you change your avatar regularly. I guess it makes total sense because you review things for the blog 🙂 But it made me think…
I change my clothes all the time but I never change my body (shape or skin) or head, as my look has come to feel like *me*, and I don’t like the idea of looking like someone else. I only significantly changed my avatar once when I went from a standard to a mesh head, and then it took me a few days to tweak it and feel happy it looked enough like the old me to go out in public. I wonder if I’m in the minority feeling this way about my av. Genuinely curious! 🙂 Will take and share a snap when I can. x

I have been in SL since november 2008 but been away for lengthy periods as Im more active in mmorpg gaming than SL. But im addicted, have my own place on mainland and love to decorate and build. I also use it as a social chat app with my BF daily but we mostly use the android app Lumiya (which is awesum) . I seldom change look, only clothes and I never remove my glasses 😉

My Second Life Birthdate is February 12, 2007 so I just turned 12 a couple of weeks back. Yay!
I prefer to make Fantasy avatars because I love the unusual skins, ears, eyes and hair you can find, but I have a human side too! 🙂
