A couple of weeks ago I was inspired by this pose and dress and wanted to create an image of a girl falling apart in pieces. I was experimenting with different tutorials I found online and they just weren’t helping me as much. So I showed my plurk friends a work in progress image (in this plurk) and they gave me lots of good advice, which I took and came up with the image you see here. However, it still needs a lot more work and polishing up but I’ve finally given up on it, for now. Real life got me busy so I haven’t had time to look up more tutorials or see how else I can improve it.
In the meantime, a few of you have messaged me and asked me how I did this effect. It’s really hard for me to explain it over IM or email so I promised to do this video and here it is. Not sure if it’s easy to follow or if it makes any sense but this is what I did to get this effect.
You can download the shattered glass photoshop brush that I used in the video from Theme Cavern at this link.
If I know myself well, I am sure I am going to continue to figure this shattered image out more in a few weeks when I have more time. If I can think of a better way to do this so it looks more polished, I will definitely share it here!
Let me know what you think of this tutorial and if you want me to share more like this!

I don’t know if any of you have a group of friends who you play games with, but I do. My group of friends consists mainly of my girlfriend Bethany, her RL friends Ray and Destiny and SL buddies Phemie and Garrett. We play games like Tera, to Minecraft, but today we decided to contribute to the internet phenomenon known as HARLEM SHAKE.
Second Life is a brilliant place for creativity and expression. We all know this, and sadly sometimes the outside world doesn’t. But here I am, humping the thin air wearing a stormtrooper mask, surrounded by individuals with some sense of individualism that can be overlooked in this game, because all that second life is, is individualism. I’m humping the air but at the same time I’m bloody loving it, and the angry person with the troll face behind me, and even the horse, is loving it too. Something inside me wants to facebook this shit to my friends, but I know half of them will be like “WTF IS THIS SECOND LIFE SHIT?” … so therefore I don’t, but thats ok, because not everyone I know understands the virtual world and it’s attractions.
My main point is NOT that Second Life is what you want it to be, it’s NOT that people on the ‘outside’ don’t understand us and will never appreciate… rather it’s that we know how to have fun, in our study rooms, in our bedrooms and in our computer rooms… where our friends join us to do stupid things, pointless meaningless things, together. Friends we might only see once a year, once a millennium…who knows…
… Let us not forget the limits of Second Life, let us embrace the limits it challenges us with, and dare to overcome them.
I have had too much wine, so I’m going now to pass out. Have a merry bloody evening everyone xxx

OUTFITS: If you think I am posting EVERYONE’S outfit in here you must be crazy. Though I have on a N-Creation Hoodie ;)
SPECIAL THANKS: To EVERYONE in the video, especially Bethany Heart who made it – (Prizes for those who spot Strawberry)
People are always asking me how I add the highlights and shadows on my pictures. Of course, a lot of that are my windlight settings. But I also play around a little bit in photoshop. I do some dodge and burn, which I used on my hair in this picture. Using curves on adjustment layers is another thing I do sometimes, but it’s really not that obvious. It’s a very minor adjustment that I think adds a little more depth to an image. I’m not sure how useful you’ll find this technique, but here it is anyways.
I just did this image for fun because I’ve been dying to use the Shakti Face Jewelry by Eshi Otawara so I’ve decided to submit this into the Glam Affair Amberly contest. If you haven’t heard about the contest, click on over and check out the awesome linden prizes. It’s always fun to enter a contest, it really motivates me to work a bit harder. I hope you guys enter it too!

The Drax Files: World Makers, by Draxtor Depres, will be a monthly show on YouTube examining the creative people behind the avatars who continue to move the virtual world of Second Life forward with their passion and persistence.
Mixed reality interviews form the basis of very personal stories that profile designers, game-makers, role-players and fashion aficionados, musicians, artists and social-issue activists: for these dedicated residents the avatar is not just a separate pixelated entity, but a true extension of their identity with which they navigate the digital space.
The show will utilize real-life footage and Skype interviews as well as machinima from within Second Life and feature a range of creators from self-taught hobbyists to dedicated pros from all walks of life, from all over the world, cutting across gender, ethnic and generational divides.
This is a world solely made and nourished by its residents – therefore truly only their imagination can be the limit!
I had the honor of having a five second guest appearance on the first edition of The Drax Files World Makers. It is about the talented man behind the Straylight sim and Botanical store, Kriss Lehmann. You’ll also get a glimpse of his beautiful and talented wife, Shai Delacroix, whom he met in Second Life.
I couldn’t help sharing one of the pictures that Drax sent me. It is an outtake from when I was shooting my part with both him and Kriss. All three of us were cracking up on skype and saying goofy things to each other inworld so it popped up on the chat bubbles. Drax happened to catch Kriss at exactly the right moment in the shot below, LOL!
Look out for more episodes of The Drax Files coming soon. I think it’ll be a really eye opening and interesting series showing a positive side of Second Life and its talented residents. If you become a fan of the series, like I am, you can pick up some official show merchandise on the marketplace at this link.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that Berry has finally lost all her marbles and what in the world IS GraceFacing? Well even if you’re NOT thinking that, I’m still gonna tell you what it is. :P
I thought it would be a cute idea to do a picture like that in SL. So I asked my plurky friends if they knew where I could find a pose like that and the generous Krisyka Bellic of *Picture Me Pretty* Poses offered to make it for me. So here it is! You can totally blame this dorky picture on her. :D
Speaking of youtube, I’m also a big fan of the Flufee on a Meshion episodes. You may remember I had a short guest appearance in episode 11 as myself earlier this year. Well this time Superflufee asked me to be the voice of a new character in the series, her name is Pigee (no piggy jokes allowed :P). Anyhow, I am not sure if she’s going to be a recurring character, but I totally sound like a dork and this episode is a great one cuz Draxtor actually sings, so you guys should definitely watch! I’m embedding it below but you can also watch it on youtube here: http://youtu.be/xEhqF6ifzsI
Finally, did you know that December 4th is National Cookie Day? I had a little too many cookies to celebrate it today, that pretty much explains this whole post. :P
