It’s My 7th Rezday!
May 9th is my 7th Rezday. 7 years ago today I stumbled upon the virtual world of Second Life, created an account and logged in. I was lost and didn’t quite understand what I was doing so I logged out and didn’t think about it again until a week later. I’m glad I returned and gave it another shot. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have created friendships and memories that I will always cherish.
Last year for my rezday, I created a video, “Draw My Second Life” it was an idea I took from real life youtubers. I figured I would share it again, so I’m embedding it below:
This year for my rezday I did something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and was on my Second Life Bucket List. It’s called the Poppins Challenge. The challenge states: “Climb, fly or teleport up to a great height and jump naked… open your Poppins Umbrella and float gently to the ground, snapping pictures or taking video footage as you go.”
So I used my umbrella from Lisp. It had this pose attached to the umbrella. My platform is 1400m up high so I grabbed the umbrella, took a deep breath and jumped. NSFW picture after the cut….
Of course, I ended up landing on Zaara’s platform which is about 700m below mine. But it was still quite fun.
I’m not sure how much longer my Second Life journey will last. Sometimes I feel that I’m getting older and should do other things with my time. Perhaps take up a hobby that may be more beneficial in some way or just find something better to do with my time.
Am I too old to be dressing up dolls, taking pictures of them and blogging about it? Maybe, I don’t know. But what I do know is that the friendships and acquaintances I’ve created in Second Life, and the love, encouragement and support I’ve received from them, has helped me in so many aspects of my real life.
So I’m here and I’m happy to be here. It’s been a wonderful 7 years and I’m thankful for every moment of it. Thank you for being a part of my Second Life journey. <3

You know, as long as SL is a hobby that you get enjoyment from, there’s no reason to leave. It sounds like the friendships you’ve gained are certainly more than just playing doll dress-up. It also seems like it’s a great creative outlet for you.

aww Happy Rez day. I rewatched the draw my life video, love it. I know what you mean about wondering if it’s time to move on from SL > my suggestion is try to find something that makes it feel like you are moving on within SL, because I seriously cannot imagine SL without you. When I think about ‘what’ SL is, Strawberry Singh’s photos & blog are part of the picture I draw in my head. 7 is when the so-called age of reason hits, so it’s natural for the sense of enchantment to abate a bit. Maybe go to Fantasy Faire for the day. Whatever.. you deserve a great rez day.

I’m so glad you stumbled into this loony place 7 years ago and came back in a week later to stay. I loved watching your drawing youtube (but, um, yeah…tablet drawing skills need, um, work? lol … it is adorable). I did not see it last year and about half way through it today just felt like giving you a big ole hug. Now, about that “too old to…” remark. I’ll go out on a limb and hypothesize that I’m a *lot* older than you. Demographics show that the average SL user is not 17 but is much older. So we’ll scooch over and make room for you on the Not-17 bench. Relisten to the last 5 minutes of your youtube and you know why you are here and you are the perfect exact age for being where you are right now! 🙂 The meaning of life is…what you give it. Doing what you love, where you’re loved, what makes you happy, etc. is a great start to that meaning. Here’s to your next 7 here! <3

You’re one of my top favorites, I’ve never met in SL. i do have a long list of favorite people I’ve never met in SL. Besides, your upcoming trip will be a good growing experience, and you will want to return to SL to tell all your friends here what you did, who you met, what you ate and all your other experiences that you had. Travel is great and the people you meet when you travel is a wonderful experience. Enjoy!

As long as you enjoy your artistic abilities regarding blogging, picture taking, dressing your barbie doll (that’s what I call what I do), keep on doing it. You have a great blog and I really have enjoyed reading it since I discovered it. Makes me want to go back to blogging, as I really enjoyed picture taking and dressing up as well.
