Recently a lot of you have switched over to using Exodus Viewer and have been contacting me about a few things that you guys are all having problems with. I figured I’d cover them all here cuz it seems everyone is having the same issues.
Lines and/or glitches on your pictures: I did get that as well in the latest releases so I have actually gone back to Beta 5 which is available at this link: 11.10.31.1 That’s the release that is working best for me right now without any glitches or other issues. I will keep updating with every new release though and see if it works better for me.
New snapshot window: The new snapshot feature is actually part of SL Viewer 3 that Exodus has adapted. You will find the snapshot feature like this not only in Exodus but also in the official SL 3 viewers and any other viewer that has adapted the v3 UI. It’s a bit tricky to get used to but here are some screenshots of the steps you take to take a pic now:
a. Click Save to Computer
b. Click Resolution
c. Choose your desired resolution and hit save
My resolution and graphics card: I shoot all of my pictures at 5760×3084 resolution and I have a gtx 560ti graphics card. All of the images you see on my blog are photoshopped (unless otherwise stated).

Ryker Beck of Exodi released a pretty new skin today by the name of Sylvan. A teaser of Sylvan was out last week for 50L friday but to my understanding there have been some changes made for this final release. Sylvan is available in 5 skin tones and I am wearing the darkest tone. There are 3 options for brows – light, dark and red. Cleavage and freckles are also available as options. For more details about this skin release, check out the Exodi blog and then take the slurl for a demo.
Fashion for Life starts tomorrow and I am working on some more informative posts for it very soon. I’m wearing a recolor of the gorgeous Trishna print skirt by Zaara. This skirt and other Zaara creations will be available at Fashion for Life tomorrow.
I know I’ve told you before how much I LOVE the Pixel Bean sim but just look at my gorgeous raw shot here. I used my diamond windlight setting with a slight modification (I just reduced the distance multiplier slightly).
Also today I was invited to a new flickr group that caught my interest and I’m looking forward to seeing all the pictures that will be submitted to it. It is a new group dedicated to Bohemian, Ethnic and Hippie Styles in Second Life. So let’s all join and participate! :D

There are a couple of things I wanted to cover today. First is that Mr. Revolution (btw, did you read his wonderful Garden City Relief post yesterday? I love the way he writes <3) got a new computer, so I had to get off my lazy arse and get my windlight settings all organized for him to use. When I did that, I decided I should finally share them with you guys as well, since I've been sitting on them for months. So what I've done now is gone ahead and made a WindLight Settings page which I will update periodically whenever I create more settings that I wish to share.
I hope you guys like them and find them useful. It’s always great to get feedback so feel free to email any comments or suggestions you may have for me.
The second thing I wanted to go over today is something I think I should have done a long time ago. LOL I keep getting IMs because my tutorial about enabling shadows for viewer 2.1 is not completely accurate anymore. In the latest viewers enabling shadows has been changed slightly. So here is an updated video and post for enabling shadows in Second Life Viewer 2.5.
I apologize but I just noticed that the top menu bar has been cutoff in some parts of the video, I guess that happened when I was processing it. I hope you are still able to figure out how to enable the shadows. If not, I am also typing out the process below:
Make sure your graphics settings are as close to ultra as possible. To get to the graphics settings: me > preferences > graphics
Activate the Develop menu by simultaneously clicking: ctrl-alt-q
In the Develop menu under rendering, make sure the following items have a checkmark beside them: Framebuffer objects
Lighting and Shadows
Shadows from Sun/Moon/Projectors
SSAO and Shadow Smoothing
Choose a windlight setting that will let you see shadows, such as midday.
That about covers it. Just so y’all know, I use Kirstens Viewer for all my shadows and photo taking. It seems to work the best for me, but only if I use my alt which has a very low inventory count. My inventory on my main account prevents me from taking any decent high-res snapshots inworld in any viewer. So for those of you that are struggling with shadows and such, this might be something more to look into.

PXL is about to release the 3rd generation of the Linda skin. Linda has always been my favorite and I am loving that it will be offered with so many options and tones. Here’s all the info:
- On Sunday, February 13th Linda will be released in 4 tones (Natural, Sunkissed, LightTan and Tan)
- On Sunday, February 20th Linda will be released in 2 more tones (Pale and Dark) at Skin Fair
- Each tone comes with 15 lip colors
- 15 options for eye makeup tattoos
