Paradise Lost

Paradise Lost is the story of Adam and Eve’s original sin, brought to you by The Basilique. In 2014 it was a theater production, in which residents purchased tickets to go see the live action play inworld with their friends and family. Now, they have produced Paradise Lost – the movie, a 60 minute machinima production made entirely in Second Life!

I wasn’t fortunate enough to see the play, it was always on the weekends and during my weekends I’m usually busy gallivanting around in real life causing trouble (except tonight of course, I did that during the day :P). However, now I have gotten the opportunity to watch the movie and I have to admit, every moment of it was mesmerizing. I didn’t want to take my eyes off the screen. It is incredible to see something so vivid, lively and meaningful come from our virtual world. I wish this creative and artistic side of Second Life is what the mainstream media focused on more often.

Canary Beck has done an incredible job of directing it and bringing it to life. To watch Paradise Lost – the movie, you can purchase the tickets on the Second Life marketplace for L$1000. Canary has also put herself up for auction at the MadPea Celebrity Auction and the winner of her auction will win a 10-pack set of tickets for the movie. The MadPea Auction aims to raise money to build a school with Feed A Smile / Live & Learn in Kenya. I have done this auction before in 2014, but this year I’ve been busy with school so I didn’t get the chance to sign up for it. However, there are some very big names that are up for auction: Draxtor Despres, Inara Pey, Saffia Widdershins, Callie Cline, Canary Beck and even Xiola Linden and so many more!

I remember when I was up for auction a very generous gentleman that I had not known previously had donated a big amount for me. Then for our ‘date’ he took me out to a little cafe in Second life and we chatted for a few hours. I also did a portrait for him. So it was a wonderful experience and I still speak to him from time to time. I think it’s an excellent way of getting to know someone a bit better and at the same time donating the money for an important cause.
