Signature Gianni Male Mesh Body

Signature Gianni Male Mesh Body (click here for a raw shot)

Signature has been a Second Life brand for many years now. They used to release some excellent skins and they have previously released a female mesh body named Alice and two complete male avatars named Anthony and Franklin. Now, on Friday February 26th they have released a new male mesh body named Gianni.

I have been playing around with Gianni on my male avatar, Manberry, for a couple of days now and I really like it. Here is some important information about it:

  • The body is available for purchase at the Signature Mesh Avatar mainstore.
  • The price is L$3000 and the DEMO is L$1.
  • It comes with hands and feet as well as neck gradients that are modifiable, a shape and a choice of two alphas.
  • This body is Omega compatible with skin, tattoo and clothing appliers.
  • The HUD is very detailed and shaped like a smartphone. It has four sections: Body, Layers, Skin and Limbs.
  • The Skin section of the HUD has a choice of 12 skin tones to choose from along with a tinting section so you can match your favorite skins if they don’t have appliers yet.
  • The Body section of the HUD shows the Alpha channels, and alpha save slots. I think this is the first body I’ve seen with so many alpha slots so hopefully it should be easier to wear clothing with it.
  • Appliers and Clothing for this body can be found in the Omega Gents Flickr Group since this body is Omega compatible. In case you get the female body, there is also an Omega Ladies Flickr Group.
  • For technical support and CSR questions, please contact Mona Delpiaz or Raph Dirval.

Here is a little video I’ve done where I go into a bit more detail about this body: (and yes I actually did talk about guys being able to touch their penises in the last minute of the video, sorry about that lol!)

All in all, I really like this body. Aside from the little tattoo glitches that I showed you in the video (which I hope will be fixed in an update soon), the only issue I have with it right now is that there are no good appliers for it to match the mesh heads. Hopefully that will change in the future. It is a bit bulkier than the SLink Physique male mesh body, so if you thought that one was too slender for you, you may want to give this one a try.

UPDATE – 03/05/2016: There are a few updates I wanted to add.
1. Signature has sent out an update to the limbs section in the HUD, now there are many more hand positions. It should be automatically sent to you if you hit the update button on the HUD.
2. I also wanted to mention the tattoo glitch I spoke of in the video. There actually is no glitch. The layers are in this order: body, tattoo, underwear and then clothes. The body layer=solid skin texture, the tattoo=blend tattoo texture, underwear layer=mask texture and clothes layer=mask texture. If you have an alpha blend texture on your body tattoo layer, each of the other superimpose layers should be in alpha mask mode, meaning they should be dark blue on the HUD. So basically, if I want my tattoo to show up, I need to make sure the tattoo layer is white (in alpha blend mode) and the others are blue.

I hope all of that makes sense as I do not know how to word it any better. If you are still confused or having any other difficulties with the body or HUD, please make sure to contact the Signature owners for assistance as I probably won’t be of much help. Thank you.

Gianni appears to be on par with Adam. The only real advantage I see so far is built-in Omega compatibility, but the body looks about as good and the alpha cuts are about the same.

  • I haven’t tried the Adam body as of yet but that’s great about the alpha cuts, those are really important to fit clothing.

  • Magic Marker

Do you know of any body hair appliers for this body? I think this body is very well done and personally like it more than TMP. My male friend has this body and is frustrated because he cant find body hair. Any suggestions?

  • I do not doubt for a minute that glitches will be addressed in an update, but be prepared to have to buy the update. I have never seen these people do any updates without having to purchase again. They compare their stuff to the I-phone apparently, and I-phones are never free when they update. And that was Raph Dirval own words.

  • This is a nice looking body, no doubt.

As a general comment, though, I have to say that the endless release of new mesh bodies for men is making it kinda suck to be a guy in SL right now. With a million bodies but no single one popular enough to get more than a few clothing creators on board making properly fitted stuff, finding things to wear that fit well (not just OK, but well) is a nightmare. I’m so incredibly jealous of how easy women have it with Maitreya being the de facto standard.

  • Magic I believe Akeruka has a hair version for their omega applier but I haven’t seen an applier separately for hair, sorry.

V Clancy, you are mistaken. I just spoke with Raph Dirval and he has informed me that there will be free updates that will be automatically sent to the people that have purchased this body any time there is any update to it. This goes for the female mesh body as well named Alice (which he just updated a few days ago and it was sent automatically as well: https://www.flickr.com/photos/109756825@N06/25323736226) and the same applies to his other mesh avatars Anthony and Franklin. I hope that clears up any misconceptions.

Taylor, the more people that start wearing and using one body, the more items will be released for it. Maitreya was released in 2014 so it takes time. Male mesh bodies are fairly new to the market.

Thanks for the video. A couple of silly things; I think you sound a little like Priyanka Chopra from Quantico. Since I think this, I imagine you look like her in RL (whether you do or don’t!) haha.
Also, I LOVED getting a little glimpse of your inventory during the video. Would you ever consider doing a post & video on your inventory and how you organise it.
    Thanks.

  • Arialle thank you! I don’t think I look anything like Priyanka unfortunately haha!

As for my inventory, it is a complete mess lol. I am probably the most disorganized resident inworld. Anya Ohmai covered inventory management on her blog in a very detailed way if you are interested:

  • Replying on this older post, because it’s related to male mesh bodies and suchlike. Something I’ve noticed since I acquired the Slink male body and a Catwa male head is that it’s getting VERY expensive to kit out an avatar with a new skin these days. I don’t know if it’s the same for female avatars, since I’ve no idea how makers of female skins pack their appliers/standard skin packs, etc, but this is what I found when looking at one specific male skin recently:

Pack 1: L$900 for the system skin with Slink hand and feet appliers
Pack 2: L$500 for the Slink mesh body applier
Pack 3: L$500 for the Catwa male mesh head applier

    This means that:

    – if you use the system skin with Slink hands/feet you have to spend L$900 (pack 1)
    – if you use the Slink body with Slink hands/feet but the system head you have to spend L$1400 (packs 1 and 2)
    – if you use the Slink body with Catwa head and Slink hands/feet you have to spend L$1900 (packs 1, 2, and 3)

In the third case, you’re having to spend L$900 on the full system skin, just to get the Slink hand and feet appliers. I find it a little disingenuous to pack those specific appliers ONLY with the system skin and not to sell them separately for a much lesser amount, which most skin-makers do these days. One skin-maker is even selling eyebrows (tattoo layer and TMP applier) separately, at L$150 per style. They’re not even included on the skin, so you HAVE to buy those as well.

I’ll admit that I’ve rarely been out of the mesh body lately (although I’ve only worn the mesh head once; I still have an adversion to losing Skell’s facial features completely) but – for male avatars specifically, who have always had fewer things to choose from – this doesn’t bode well for creativity. If it costs a ridiculous sum of money just to get your avatar kitted out with one skin, guys will be less likely to buy new skins; they’ll just stick with one that they like. And, in the long run, that’s going to bite the skin-makers in the butt with fewer sales.

  • Skell, I have to agree, it is getting very expensive. One of the biggest things that I wish people would do is just to put the slink body and the hands/feet appliers together. That was one of the reasons I actually stopped wearing slink body on my female avatar. It’s just so much of a hassle, not to mention confusing when purchasing appliers.

  • I already have Anthony and must check the new one. Thx for this post.

  • Cristalle Karami

This is why you go with an Omega compatible body that comes with hands and feet.

Alternatively, get an Omega skin applier set for the Slink body since it is Omega compatible, and then the head applier. Most Omega skins should come with the hands and feet.

  • I have Omega installed in my male Slink body, Cristalle. I also have Slink hands and feet (also Omega-compatible).

In the example I gave, all of the system/appliers for this specific skin are sold in separate sets. You can’t even buy eyebrows as part of a set; those are sold separately, too. If I wanted to buy one skin to use with my default head and Slink body/hands/feet, I would have no choice but to buy packs 1 and 2: pack 1 for the system skin and the hands/feet appliers (which are not sold separately, nor included with or as part of the body applier, as in: if you apply the body applier the hands and feet change also; with this one they don’t) and then pack 2 for the body applier.

If I also wanted to use the Catwa head, I would need to buy pack 3 as well, since the head applier is sold separately. Adding on L$150 for eyebrows (not included with the skin or the head applier, although I guess I could use the head’s default brows, which are a bit too bushy for my liking) and that would be a total cost of L$2,025, which is L$1,000 more than if I just bought the system skin with hands and feet appliers.

Omega or not, when each pack is kept discrete and not bundled together, it IS expensive, and men don’t yet (and – given past history – never will) have the humungous amount of options that women do.

As a consequence, I’m still wearing the one good (and inexpensive) applier/skin combo that I purchased months ago. And for me not to change skins on a regular basis is very rare. I used to buy a lot of them, but not anymore, if I want to continue wearing this mesh body. If Aeros bring out Slink body appliers that might change, but right now nothing is tempting me to spend double what I normally would on a new skin.

  • geraldo knibber

I have a hard time matching the colors offered with the skin I use … and the demo could not work well with the RGB color … I insert the data but I see no change in the shape;;; does not work in the demo?

  • Geraldo, I’m not sure as I never tried the DEMO. I suggest contacting the Signature designer for assistance.

  • 1. I second V Clancy, the Iphone thing was not heard by them alone, I heard pretty much the same.

    2. here are some prices for you guys. (men only).

    Option A, TMP:
Body TMP, premium (you want alpha layers right?) 5000
Head TMP, premium (you want to blink and not look like a fish zombie right?) 5000
The Shops Skin: (it is average price of appliers full-body on other shops that vary from 700 lindens and more), 1000.

    Total: 11.000 lindens.

    Option B, Others

    Signature body: 3000
    Catwa head: 3650
    —————————-
    6650

Add your favorite appliers (two average shop prices, the cheapest with best qualities.):

    Shop A: eyebrows, 150. Slink appliers, 700. Head, 700. = 1550.
    Shop B: head appliers; 650. Slink appliers, 400. 1150.

If you guys find it CHEAP, feel free to drop this very cheap pack of gifts on me in second life, will ya?

hello Strawberry when I’m taking picture of the signature body I alway see a grey tint on the body how can I get rid of that

  • punanykillah

I’m having a problem with the Signature Body V.6.0… where the V.5.0 Hud used to be able to remove the foot the new version removes the whole foot plus the ankle which means that whatever footwear you have in your inventory, you now to raise up higher on your leg to hide the fact that your ankle is gone. Is there some way to fix that? I’ve had to stop wearing a lot of sneakers and shoes because now they just won’t display or adhere right.

  • The creator of Gianni changed the rig of the body when they did the 6.0. It is important to try demos when buying clothing. Clothes that were made prior will clip in area’s that did not clip before. Especially if they are tight fitting.
