I’m pretty sure out of the 100K inventory that I have, at least a quarter of that must be Truth hair. I’m going to admit something that you guys might shake your head at, I’ve never ever deleted any Truth hair. No wonder my inventory is insane, right? Well what can I say, I am a true Truth addict and I just cannot get myself to delete any of it.
However, now that Truth has released new hair today with updated color packs, I may just do some spring cleaning to make room for the new goodies. He has six new releases for us, they are at a temporary location so check his flickr for the details (they are also on marketplace). He has added a variety pack as well for those who like to change their skintones and hair colors all the time, like me! Another thing I love is that he has added the fades in the color packs so now you don’t have to purchase two different packs. Finally, not only has he had a big release today, but he just announced a very exciting contest which I know a lot of you will be interested in. Click over and join the Truth Model Search flickr group. The contest starts today and ends June 1st. You can win gift certificates along with becoming a “Truth Model” and having your picture displayed in the store! Make sure to pay attention to the rules, the picture has to be a minimum 2048×2048 in size. That’s usually a lot bigger than what I upload to flickr so I had to keep that in mind when doing this picture.
He didn’t say anything about nudity so I’m not sure if my picture here will qualify, but I am adding it anyways. The reason I wanted to go nude today was because I wanted to show off my sexy new skin. I’m sort of in love with it. I think it makes me look quite exotic. The skin is Aria from League and it’s a preview of what’s to come. I’m excited to see the rest of the Aria line. I’m wearing the golden tone and I also picked up the appliers for the SLink hands, feet and also for my Lolas tango! I’ll probably be doing more pictures with all the appliers soon. If you have a Facebook profile for your Second Life avatar, you probably already know that the SL community on Facebook is very friendly and active. Everyday that I login to my SL facebook, I am greeted by at least 5 to 10 friend requests from other SLers. I always accept, as long as I can clearly see that they are in Second Life, because to me that’s what social networks are about: friending and socializing and sharing. However, as your friend list grows bigger and you like more and more facebook pages you will start to lose control of your newsfeed and might even miss important things in there that you definitely do not want to miss. So I thought I would do a quick tutorial on how to fix a few of your FB settings so you don’t miss anything important from close friends or your favorite facebook pages.
Close Friends:
I have a few close friends on Facebook and I want to make sure I don’t miss what they are posting because I’m always curious about what’s going on in their lives (and also cuz I’m a total stalker). So all you have to do is go to their profile and hover over the “friends” button on their cover page and you will get the above menu popping up. From there you can activate “close friends” and make sure “show in news feed” and “get notifications” are also checked. But don’t worry, Facebook doesn’t tell your friends that you’ve done this and are stalking them in any way whatsoever. This way you won’t miss anything they post on Facebook and can stalk them like a pro!
Favorite Facebook Pages:
Did you know that Facebook doesn’t always show you every update a Facebook Page makes? So if you’re a fan of a Facebook Page and you want to support them or just want to stay in the loop, getting notifications is the best way to do it. All you have to do is go to the Facebook Page you want to follow (here’s a link to mine). Hover over the “Liked” button and make sure to activate “Get Notifications” and “Show in Newsfeed” this way you’ll never miss any posts from them. I’ve done this to a few pages I want to keep track of: the Second Life facebook page and also some pages of designers and bloggers that I don’t want to miss posts from.
I think we all do things in our lives that we’re not incredibly proud of, but we still do them out of habit or just because it’s something we feel strongly about and don’t necessarily always want everyone to know about them. One of my real life guilty confessions is my obsessive love for Golden Girls reruns. I cannot resist them. If I know they will be on, I will drop everything and grab some munchies and just sit and enjoy them. Yes, I know, I need help.
Anyhow, I thought it would be fun to reveal some of our second life guilty confessions. I’m going to share five of mine, but I’m not putting a number on this meme as I know not everyone will want to admit many so just share whatever you like. However, you don’t need to go overboard on the sharing (like confession bear here), cuz you know, I don’t want anyone going to Second Life jail or anything after doing this meme! My inventory number is over 100K (again) – If you are on my plurk timeline you may already know about this one, but for the past several weeks I have been struggling to get rid of some stuff from my inventory. My highest was at 128K and I slowly started to bring it down and I even got it under 100K about two weeks ago but now it’s over 100K again. :-/ I’m going to keep trying but it is just so difficult to keep up with everything and try to keep it low at the same time. I feel soooo guilty about it because I know how much smoother and faster SL runs with a lower inventory number so I’m going to keep trying but I know this will always be a continuous struggle for me.
I am naked or half-dressed most of the time – Because my inventory is such an incredible mess and I don’t have a lot of time to sort stuff out. I am usually naked or mostly naked or just really badly dressed anytime I am not blogging, in a photoshoot or have any other kind of appointment with someone. I also really wanted to do Magenta’s Basics Blog challenge but I couldn’t because I don’t really have any basics! I just remove/detach all and stand around with no AO. In fact (it never fails) I will be bald, shoe-less and probably won’t even have pants on and I’ll teleport over to a store real quick to pick up something I need for a look I’m planning to blog and I will run into someone, “OMG HI BERRY, SO NICE TO SEE YOU HERE.” And I’m all like, “OH HI SO WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU TOO” meanwhile in my head I’m thinking, “CAN I JUST DIE NOW?” Over 100K in my inventory and this is how I travel the grid. THIS IS MY SECOND LIFE!
I usually only wear things once – Because my inventory is the never ending abyss, once it’s lost in there, it’s gone forever. So unless I have saved the outfit right away or for some odd reason I actually opened the box in my objects folder and actually filed away the folder in the right clothing folder instead of leaving it in the root inventory folder like the thousands of other items, most probably I will never find it again. What does that mean? That means that most of the time, I usually only wear things once and then I forget about them. How do I remember them and wear them again? By looking them up in my blog posts. And that is why I make the extra effort of trying to write everything clearly and properly in my credits so I don’t have a problem of searching and looking it up in my inventory when I need to. THIS IS MY SECOND LIFE!
I have to buy all things Berry – It’s like an addiction. If it has a berry on it, I feel like I have to have it. Thankfully, a lot of people gift me strawberry items all the time so I have quite a huge collection of strawberry-themed things (which I rarely blog btw because of course, MY INVENTORY) but yeah if you put a strawberry on it, chances are I will hunt it down and buy it so it can be lost in my inventory with the thousands of other items.
I’m a silent boycotter – Ok this one’s pretty serious and might get me some hate mail but I’m a HUGE silent boycotter. If you are a designer or even a blogger and you are a total douchebag on plurk, any other social network, or to a close friend of mine, I will boycott you without hesitation, I am not even joking! But I do it silently, without telling anyone. I just remove you from every social network, delete any items I have (whatever helps my inventory, right?), never ever blog your store or read your blog (remove it from my reader) and then pretend that you don’t exist. So if you’re the kind of person that is a sore loser and throws tantrums if they don’t win a contest, or if you like to get drunk and spew racist slurs on voice in waterhead or if you like to be a snarky bitch about every little thing that doesn’t even concern you in every single plurk, than I probably no longer notice your existence. But I’m not totally heartless (sometimes). I’ve forgiven people if I’ve seen them do something nice and I’ll blog them again if they show me they are not really the douchebag I thought they were. But honestly, that has really only happened once or twice. So yeah, I may not be very vocal in expressing my dislike for people, but I do not promote them in any way. I just ignore them and go on with my day. I’ve added this as a guilty confession because it may be a bit of a petty thing on my part. I can be mature and not let people’s behaviors dictate how and what I blog or read. But I figure, it’s my Second Life and blog….and why should I? There are thousands of other designers and bloggers to promote and read. Also, it’s not like me not blogging them or reading their blog is really going to affect them any, it’s just for my own satisfaction.
So these are my guilty confessions. Pretty goofy and petty, aren’t I? Ah well, tis my second life. I’m not proud of all these things but at least now that they are out there, I’ll be more inclined to straighten myself up and work on improving them.
I wanted a cute guilty stamp tattoo to wear on my tummy for this post but I couldn’t find one on marketplace so I quickly made this one myself. It didn’t turn out as nicely as I would have liked, but I think it looks ok. I’m going to send it to my Berrylicious group inworld for free later today. Today is May 9th and it’s also my 6th rezday. Six years ago today I found Second Life and fell in love with a virtual world and its residents. Every year on my rezday I usually do a picture and/or blog post and talk about my second life and thank everyone for being a part of it. This year I wanted to add something to it, something a bit more meaningful. I had picked up this idea about a month ago but it didn’t really turn out as well as I wanted. I was a bit nervous while recording it so I left out a lot of what I also wanted to say and some people that I wanted to mention. However, I’m going to go ahead and post it anyways, just so I can look back on it and it will remind me of all the wonderful memories that I have.
I saw this “Draw my life” challenge on youtube. A lot of my favorite youtubers have been doing it (Like Grace). Basically what you’re supposed to do is draw out your life so far. I wanted to find a way to bring this into Second Life somehow and I figured the best time to do it was on my Rezday.
I tried to look for something inworld that I could use to draw with and I found a few writing pens and utensils (like the Sky Writer) but for some reason, I just had a hard to using them. I figured it might be easier to just do this in Photoshop since it’s the tool I use the most for my Second Life images.

I was thinking about typing out everything I said in the video but I left out so much stuff that I wanted to say and also forgot to mention several close friend’s names that I figured I’d just leave it. In fact, you guys really shouldn’t watch the video at all, it’s pretty embarrassing and you’re just going to be wasting 10 minutes of your life because really, I can’t draw if my life depended on it and then on top of that I can’t even write properly on my tablet so it’s just a mess!
I am going to go ahead and put this in my blog challenges category as I would love to see other SLers draw their life, not sure if any of you will, but it’s set as a challenge anyhow in case y’all want to take it on. I think it can be a fun experience.
So it’s been 6 years of all of this crazyness and I don’t regret a minute of it. I already mentioned several friends in the video that did a lot for me and my Second Life journey, but I forgot to mention many more, such as all those people that support and encourage me that I’ve met on different social networks (especially plurk) and all of you guys that read my blog. You don’t know how much you’ve done for me and how much I’ve learned from you all. Your love and support has not only affected my SL but my RL as well. Thank you so much for teaching me more about myself. <3
I feel like I really failed at this week’s SL DisneyBound challenge because I had all these ideas and I was going to use ManBerry and was going to dress him up as Aladdin, etc… but I’m currently going through a number of projects at the moment that I just haven’t had time. In fact, I am squeezing this quick picture in because well, I really really really wanna do this challenge.
This picture kind of represents my life right now. I feel like I’ve gone through (and still going through) a lot of changes and I’m seeing the world a bit differently. To make this post sound even cheesier, it’s like “a whole new world” to me and lately my life has been nothing short of magical.
Tomorrow is my 6th rezday and I’ve been planning a special post for it for about a month now, but it’s not exactly turning out how I planned it in my head. I’m going to try and squeeze time in today and see what I end up with for tomorrow. It’s been quite a journey and I feel like I’ve learned and grown a lot.
