Second Life Movie Poster Challenge 2016!

Second Life Movie Poster Challenge (click here for a raw shot)

It’s Monday and for this week’s Monday Meme I have decided to bring back my Second Life Movie Poster Challenge that I first did back in 2013. I’ve brought this challenge back today because since 2013, numerous people have asked me to do it again because they enjoyed it so much. Also, talented Second Life filmmaker Glasz DeCuir asked if she could use some of the posters from my previous movie poster challenge in an exhibit that she will be having in Second Life at the end of May. More details about that later in the post if you are interested in getting a chance to have your poster (either from the previous challenge or this one) in her exhibit.

Meme instructions: Create a movie poster for your Second Life Avatar or SLife. You can base it off an original movie poster or think of a completely new idea of your own! Please be careful of copyright issues and try not to use copyrighted elements in your work. Remember to share a link to your poster in the comments and my Blog Memes Flickr Group. You don’t have to have a blog to do this challenge, you can share your image on any social platform you prefer.

This year I decided to base my poster on Jane Austen’s Emma. I didn’t try to make it look exactly like all of the Emma posters that have been made for different Emma movies though. I loosely based it on an image and blog post I’ve done back in 2012 about Emma, you can see the similarities in the images here: Jane Austen’s Emma by Strawberry Singh. So I just dressed up in a way that would fit the Jane Austen theme and then went to the beautiful Jane Austen’s English Countryside which is currently on an LEA sim for the picture. You guys should definitely check it out if you are a Jane Austen fan like me.

If you are interested in having your movie poster featured at Glasz DeCuir’s exhibit inworld, you can add your images to her flickr group as well, which is called: Machinima Poster Online Archive and from that group she said she will pick a minimum of 8 posters to go in the exhibit. Please note though that if you are adding your poster to her flickr group, you are giving her permission to upload it to Second Life for the exhibit. This is not a commercial exhibit, no money will be made from it by anyone. The exhibit will run from May 29th till the end of June at this location: MACHINIMA Experimental Lab – G’ on the Dreamworld North sim.
(UPDATE: Due to the generosity of LaPiscean Liberty who is the founder of AviewTV & SLartists, there is now a linden prize for the top three posters. You can get all of the info and rules on the SL Machinima Poster Archive Facebook Page.)

I plan to add both of my movie posters in her group, this years and last years (which I am sharing below).

Please remember that you can participate in any of the memes/challenges at any time. You’ll find them all under my Blog Challenges category along with other memes and challenges I’ve done over the years. You don’t have to have a blog to do this challenge, you can share your image on any social platform you prefer. Don’t forget to share a link to your poster in the comments and add it to my Blog Memes Flickr Group.

  18. And so I decided to do a second poster as I’d always felt the thumbnail for ‘Meet Me at Molly’s wasn’t as good as it should have been.
