Locked Up

locked up

Today I’m locked up in one of my favorite dungeons in SL. The Abiss Interior Dungeon is really well done. It’s dark, mysterious and the textures are phenomenal.

The feline feet I’m wearing are a limited edition set from roobix. Only 50 of these Kai felines will be sold and when I went and picked it up for L$500, there were only 44 left. It comes with the blood stained feline legs, ears and tail.

My skin is Ispachi’s latest that was released a few weeks ago. It’s their special Vampire edition of the new Portia skin. There are several versions of this skin, I’m wearing thirst which has blood stained lips.

So very Social

KeeT

Not sure if the title of the post really describes me because I am kind of shy and awkward in RL, but when it comes to social media, I’m totally obsessed. I recently read this article: 3 Mistakes you’re making online by one of my favorite RL bloggers (in fact y’all should add her to your readers because she is like a Social Media guru and I’ve learned so much from her) and it got me thinking about what my online presence is like. One thing that helps me monitor my presence online (other than googling myself) are google alerts. I’ve had google alerts setup for my SL name for a few years now. In the past year it’s amazing where my name has been popping up and how much the alerts catch which I miss just by searching. It’s a fantastic tool and I think every serious content creator in SL should look into it. It will assist you in keeping abreast of your brand and what people are saying about it.

So now I’m going to get into why I’m rambling about all this. On a daily basis I have about 5 to 10 different designers dropping either items, notecards or IMs on me asking me to blog their items. So much content that at times I don’t even get the opportunity to open it all. So I have started a screening process. I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of flack for actually blogging about this, but this is what I do. When you contact me and I haven’t heard of you before, I google you. I google your brand name, your full SL name and whatever other information you have provided and I look for a few things.

  1. Do you have an online presence? A blog? A flickr? A place where you share your new releases so I can peruse and see what the quality of your items are before I bother to even open up the box. If you don’t have any online presence at all, it makes me slightly hesitant to blog your brand.
  2. Is the online presence you have positive or negative? Has someone written negatively about you on another blog? Who was at fault and did you try to resolve the issue?
  3. Are you over blogged? I know this sounds crazy but if I see 50 other bloggers already blogging the same item that you just dropped on me, I tend to shy away from blogging the item unless I am absolutely and incredibly in love with it. Only because it takes me a lot of time and energy to do one blog post. Also, I figure it’s already getting the attention it deserves, I don’t need to add to the pile.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that I hope what I wrote above does not make it seem like I don’t want to blog smaller or newer content creators. In fact, if you read my review policy you will see I am very open to receiving any content you wish to share with me and I always do my best to blog whatever I can as much as time permits me.

I think it’s really important for content creators to jump on the social media train. At least have a blog for your updates and get on flickr. I believe those are the two places people use most for shopping purposes. An online presence can do a lot for your brand, especially if you are just starting out and want to get noticed. So open up a flickr, start a blog and get those teasers out before you even open up your doors. I guarantee you it will generate buzz about your brand.

Chocolata

With a name like that, how could I resist? It was love at first sight when I saw this skin on the bodyco flickr. Please note that the first image is very photoshopped because I felt like playing and trying some new things. I think I went a bit overboard lol but it was all fun. Here’s a link to a raw shot of the skin on my shape.

Layla o Layla

layla

When I first read the name of this skin, Layla, immediately one of my most favorite old bollywood songs from the 70s popped into my head. I remember my mom used to blast it in the 80s as I was growing up and then we’d dance together in the family room. Those were the good old days. Now she’s too busy trying to find me a husband. :P

Anyhow, I digress. Layla is a new skin from Glam Affair which will be released at the Skin & Shape Expo on May 10th. I am just loving all of the new Glam Affair skins but I really think Layla suits me best. This is the darkest tone I am wearing and I even got a compliment from Mr. Revolution which is very rare. :P

The hair is a new release from Discord Designs. I believe Discord is the best place to get braids in SL. They are just so well done and the matching hairbases on tattoo layers are perfection. Check out Discord Designs on the marketplace.

The sexy little swimsuit is from Hucci, one of the best places to get all your sexy-wear. It’s hot, excellent quality, and hello giraffe print! How much more can you want? There is also a sensational zebra print and many more gorgeous colors so do check them out now that summer is just around the corner. Hucci can also be found on the marketplace.

I’ve been trying to work on my photo taking skills, not just with ps but inworld as well. I’m playing with more windlight settings and water settings and such and having a lot of fun. I posted the raw shot to the first image on my flickr in case you wanted to take a look, you can view it here.

Madame Joan

Madame Joan

Joan is a stylish new dress from Icing. It comes in 6 sensational colors: black, blue, green, red, white and I’m wearing purple. Miko Omegamu does system skirts so well, I am wearing my system skirt shape for this dress. It’s exactly like my regular shape except with slightly smaller hips and booty. I feel so sophisticated and curvy in this dress. It also comes with a leaf & feather hat with an option for a veil. I adore the veil, it adds so much class to the whole look.

Joan will be released later today so join the Icing update group inworld or keep an eye on the Icing blog so you can be one of the firsts to get your hands on it.

Madame Joan

The skin and necklace I am wearing are both currently available at Culture Shock from Glam Affair and Lassitude & Ennui.

This Sakura skin from Glam Affair is slowly rising to the top of my favorites list. I love how it looks on my shape and now it is available in 5 delicious skin tones (Light, Natural, MedTan, Tan and Dark). I am currently wearing the Tan but I adore all of the tones, especially the Dark. A big thank you to ALL of the designers that take the time to do awesome dark tones for their skins. <3

It was love at first site when I saw the necklace from Lassitude & Ennui. I first noticed it on plurk and I made it a point to go back to Culture Shock to pick it up. It's gorgeous and definitely one you want to pick up when you go.

Speaking of Culture Shock, I just wanted to take a moment to thank the organizers for displaying my art there, it really is an honor to have it up there amongst so many other amazing artists. Thank you Culture Shock team! <3 Take the slurl to Culture Shock and check it out guys!
