What’s your Digits? – Take 5: The Mesh Body Revolution

Before I begin today’s Monday Meme, I wanted to say that I’m really busy with school these days so I haven’t had the chance to read the last couple of weeks’ meme responses, sorry about that! I love reading your responses so I will be on those as soon as I get the chance. Thank you so much for always taking the time to participate. <3

What’s your Digits? – Take 5: The Mesh Body Revolution

Hard to believe I’ve been doing the Digits Challenge for 5 years now. I had no plans to do it this year as I’ve been usually doing it in June the past few years but this year, I won’t be around during the month of June. However, Ms. Kirsten Corleone contacted me recently and requested I do it in April since a lot of people are wearing mesh bodies now and she feels her shape has drastically changed since doing so and would love to talk about it. My shape has also changed a bit since last year ever since I started wearing a mesh body all the time as well. So here is the 5th installment of the Digits Challenge!

Meme Instructions: Share your avatar’s digits and/or answer the following questions about mesh bodies. If you decide to share your digits, feel free to add your image to the Digits Flickr Group.

You can see my digits from last year at this link and compare how much I’ve changed since then. Manberry is still pretty much the same because he is not wearing a mesh body as of yet. You do not have to share your numbers if you don’t feel comfortable. You can just answer the following questions:

  1. Do you currently own a mesh body? If so, do you wear it all the time or just once in a while? If not, skip to the fourth question. – For Manberry, I do not have a mesh body that he wears all the time. I did pick him up the free version of The Shops male mesh body but I have no interest in getting him the full version of it. I just don’t like their HUD system so I am waiting for either SLink or Signature to release a male body so I can get him one to wear all of the time. For Strawberry Singh, I currently own several mesh bodies but really only wear two of them now on a regular basis, SLink and Maitreya. I wear the Maitreya mesh body pretty much all of the time, rarely take it off.
  2. What is your preferred mesh body available on the market right now?Maitreya Lara Mesh Body
  3. Have you changed your shape since you started wearing the body? – Yes, I have. Before mesh bodies, I had created a standard size small shape for myself and wore that most of the time because it was easy to wear mesh clothing with it. However, since getting the mesh body, the alpha huds have made it easier to alpha out parts of my choosing so I have made my body a bit curvier. I’ve added some fat and muscle and pumped up my chest and bottom a bit. I keep my chest on the smaller side still though because I prefer it that way and it’s also easier to fit into mesh tops as well.
  4. How do you feel about mesh bodies in general? – I love them. I think they are wonderful because compared to the classic Second Life avatar they are a lot smoother therefore resulting in less time spent in editing all of the rough edges in Photoshop for pictures.
  5. What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies? – I would love a universal applier system that works on all of the bodies for all of the items. I know the Omega appliers are kind of like that, but they don’t work with everything all the time. So I think once we have a universal applier system, it’ll not only be easier for consumers but also for the designers creating items. They wouldn’t have to make 100 appliers with every release for all the mesh parts out there.

Please remember that you can participate in any of the challenges at any time. You’ll find them all under my Blog Challenges category along with other memes and challenges I’ve done over the years. All of my past Digits Challenges can be viewed in the Digits Challenges category.

take me as I am

I also wanted to add a poll in this post because it had been a while since my last poll and your answers always give me a good idea of what to do in the future. A lot of you have been contacting me requesting that I do older memes again, such as this digits one, the Movie Poster one as well as wanting me to create another Flat Person to tote around the grid and some others. I always encourage people to feel free to respond to the older memes, there is never an expiry date on any of them, but I figured I’d ask in a poll what kind of memes you would like. I still have lots of ideas of my own and some given to me by others, but would love your input. Multiple selections are allowed in this poll and in the box at the end you can leave me comments or meme suggestions which are anonymous and will only be viewed by me.

Thanks for reading, participating and also taking the time to answer the poll. I always appreciate your input! Have a great week. <3

  1. 1. Do you currently own a mesh body? If so, do you wear it all the time or just once in a while? If not, skip to the fourth question.
Yes, I started wearing a mesh body actually this past January 2015. Yes, I wear my mesh body all the time except when I am attending modeling school. I currently wear the Belleza Venus mesh body. I used to wear the Maitreya Lara, but I find the Belleza a bit user friendly. I also have the Slink mesh but the HUD menu print is way too tiny for my eyes to read and a bit confusing. The easier the HUD the better for me.

    2. What is your preferred mesh body available on the market right now?

I use Belleza Venus. I love this mesh body!

    3. Have you changed your shape since you started wearing the body?

Yes, Morgan is a much taller avatar now. Her face has also been tweaked for the better.

    4. How do you feel about mesh bodies in general?

I cannot imagine a SL avatar without a mesh body. I have not been in SL as long as others, but even during this short period of time, I see the evolution of mesh especially with avatar shapes and skins.

5.What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies?

Gosh, there are so many things I would like to say regarding this question. I hope that mesh body/skin creators do read your blog and take into consideration the suggestions and comments by their customers.

*Omega Appliers: Yes, I agree with Berry. I wish there would be one Omega to apply to all mesh bodies. It really is confusing and irritating for me to have all of these different Omegas for each system.

*alpha on the breast region: This is where I just get irked about. I would love it if, for example, Belleza would not make the breast region as one big chunk. I cannot wear a lot of clothing because of this. I say just break up the regions even more..especially around the breast/neck area and also knees.

  2. […] This has been a Strawberry Singh Monday Meme – Blogger Challenge. Play along with Strawberry *here* […]

  3. You can just answer the following questions:

Do you currently own a mesh body? – Yes – Slink Physique, Maitreya Lara and Belleza
What is your preferred mesh body available on the market right now? – Maitreya Lara Mesh Body
Have you changed your shape since you started wearing the body? – yes for various fittings of items as I change clothes so many times a day sometimes I have to alter my shape to fit a certain cut of bust etc
How do you feel about mesh bodies in general? – When the WowMeh came out I thought it would be a fad but now I would hate to be without it when I remember those hard corners on the shoulders, elbows knees etc and I don’t use photoshop
What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies? – More consideration to the neck bust area, its not one big chuck as would use more layering down so we can not just have to take chunks out, I appreciate the have just updated and have taken this into consideration to a point but not enough yet

  4. 1. Do you currently own a mesh body? If so, do you wear it all the time or just once in a while? I do have a few mesh bodies, Slink, Belleza, TMP, and Maitreya. I have started wearing the Maitreya body all the time, it fits my needs and the shape is wonderful, the others I had a lot of trouble when wearing more than one layer, such as tattoo and undies, the tattoo would poof, with the Maitreya body I am able to avoid this.
    2. What is your preferred mesh body available on the market right now? Maitreya Lara
    3. Have you changed your shape since you started wearing the body? Yes lol, I took off my mesh body and alpha to see what the shape under looked like and wow it is bad, but works great with the mesh body, I tweeked my hips, butt, and legs since the mesh body gives great curves.
    4. How do you feel about mesh bodies in general? I think they are great, I am not sure I could go back to using just the system body anymore.
    5. What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies? Mesh clothes made for the mesh bodies specifically, there are a few designers I always go to because they do this with all of their mesh clothes and it makes life so much easier when trying to fit them.

  5. http://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2015/04/digits-meme-2015.html

I am FIRST? I don’t think I have ever been first. Happy dance. Oh, someone hit the button before I did. Darn.

  6. Do you currently own a mesh body? If so, do you wear it all the time or just once in a while? If not, skip to the fourth question. – I do, and I wear it all the time. I was a little slow in the uptake at first but I love it.

What is your preferred mesh body available on the market right now? – Maitreya Lara Mesh Body

Have you changed your shape since you started wearing the body? – Yes, I have. I have always had a thicker, athletic shape but now it’s curvier. I had to slim down the fat a little but compensated in other ways since the blocky breasts are no longer blocky.

What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies? – Aside from other things people mentioned… Proper labeling. Don’t label standard sized mesh as made for Belleza or Maitreya or any other body. Just because that might happen to fit at average or low numbers doesn’t mean that it’s fitted mesh that is designed for the body and fits at higher numbers.

Just want to add that Signature released tow male mesh bodies, Franklin and Anthony.. You can see them blogged here: http://carthalis.com/2015/02/25/anthony-franklin/

The alpha HUD is as good as TMP… well, almost as many cuts. Enough since the mesh body is close to the sl avatar. But it is all in one piece, you can’t wear your own head with it. Well technically you can alpha out the head and try… I also hate the red lips on Franklin. It was set out an creator pack for tattoos, but nothing for skins and clothes and that is too bad. You can’t get better skins with it.

  12. Hey Marianne, yeah those are mesh avatars, I don’t want that as I prefer to keep my face. So I am hoping and waiting that Signature releases just a body. I heard that they are, just not sure when.

  23. 1. Do you currently own a mesh body? Nope

    4. Do not like them. In the past I purchased Shapes but I kept playing with the sliders until I learned them. My body is now MY body, not a cookie cutter body. As with much mesh content, I feel it discourages creativity and individuality. Plain ole residents are discouraged from learning the sliders and individualizing their looks. People are criticised and told they need to update their looks if they don’t use mesh. I realize I’m on the losing side here. LL is not going to improve Avatar creation ~ why should they when mesh creations are taking over and SL2 is looming on the horizon. It’s just so boring that so many avatars are wearing so few faces. Kinda like one of those scifi movies where everyone is a clone of the original 5 colonists. I have tried both full bodies and just appendages. Yes, fingers and toes is nice. Yes, I can see a little muscle definition in my booty. But it’s just not worth it to me either financially (I’ve ranted before on the cost of mesh content) or in terms of being forced to purchase new skins and appliers because my favorites don’t work with the mesh. Le sigh.

5 – What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies? Diversity.

  38. LunaAzulejo says:

I agree with Rose Mackie. Mesh bodies are boring, and I truly resent mesh ‘standard sizing’ for its expectation that we have Barbie shapes instead of more natural bodies. Sure, SL is a fantasy zone, but must we all have the same fantasy? Designers have gotten lazy, imo, because they can use alphas rather than make decent-fitting clothes that don’t show weird vacancies around wists or bustlines. nd don’t get me started on bad shoe alphas! Sorry and sad to say, I love my prim clothes because they let me have my non-standard, voluptuous shape.

And Ms. Singh, why did you set your arms at 100? The avi looks like a lemur.

If I had a clue on how to take a photo and post numbers on it, I would do so! lol I just wondered why you left off Body Thickness from your numbers? Most everyone else posted theirs. Great blog! I look here first when I want info! lol

  42. Do you currently own a mesh body? not yet, but will soon take the plunge to give my lovers a more pleasant Naked Patty experience.

    cutting to fourth question:

How do you feel about mesh bodies in general? – I’m knocked out by what I’ve seen on other women with mesh bodies. However, when I go mesh, I have no intention of abandoning my present inventory of clothing; I’ll wear mesh when I’m intimate with someone, ie, ‘nude or in lingerie’. I have no real principled stand against replacing all my clothes with mesh body-compatible wear, just can’t afford to do so.

What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies? –

I agree with Strawberry that a universal applier system that works on all of the bodies for all of the items would be great to have. While I’ll probably buy one of the mesh bodies on the market now for intimate encounters, I’d prefer to have a body with a universal applier system.

I know Project Bento’s not directly germane to this discussion, but having a shape with good ‘bones’ to which mesh clothing could be rigged would be good, too. It might alleviate some of the grief we have with mesh clothing, and (please, Strawberry or someone else knowledgeable correct me if I’m wrong) free us from having to wear one of the “five shapes” when dressed in a truly form-fitting mesh ensemble.
