Ghoomar – Second Life Dance Cover

Ghoomar is a traditional folk dance of Rajasthan, India. It is also one of the most popular songs recently released in bollywood for the movie Padmavati. Since its release, there has been numerous covers of it made by different youtubers dancing their hearts out to the enchanting music and lyrics. I am absolutely addicted to searching youtube for the latest Ghoomar covers just to watch in delight.

I decided to add a Second Life version to the Ghoomar covers collection, but I didn’t do the whole song, just a 1.5 minute snippet. I kept it short because traditionally the Ghoomar dance is performed by veiled women who wear flowing dresses and this is a feat that is impossible in Second Life. Oh how I wish for the day to be able to dance with a flowing veil in SL (and not a flexi version). For now, I’ve settled with a still, posed image of the dance with veil and then of course the dance video itself without the veil.

Being able to dress up my avatar like this and do these kinds of posts is just one reason I absolutely love Second Life and how much it inspires me. Doing this video and blog post has been incredibly fun. I hope you end up loving this song as much as I do! <3
