Exploring Second Life on Valentine’s Day

Exploring Second Life on Valentine's Day

Happy Early Valentine’s day to all of you. I hope you get a chance to spend it with your loved ones.

The past couple of years on Valentine’s Day I’ve always tried to live stream at a few different locations in Second Life, so this year I’m planning to do the same. However, this year I am going to try and hit a few more locations, one or two I might even try and do today. Just keep an eye on my YouTube channel for the live streams, and if you haven’t done so yet, don’t forget to subscribe!

Here are the locations I am planning to visit. If I don’t get a chance to visit all of them, make sure to visit yourself when you get a chance.

I’ve visited the G.B.T.H Project before, but now they have a new installation for the new year that I want to check out. The installation is called CONTAMINATED and it is their first collective 3D installation with 37 participants. I am so excited to see this collaborative effort. I will try and visit it today if I can, if not then tomorrow on Valentine’s Day for sure.

Here is the SLurl to the G.B.T.H Project:

The World of Magic Event

The World of Magic is a one-time fantasy event inspired by the Harry Potter books and the Fantastic Beasts movie series. The event opens to the public on February 15th at 12PM (NOON) SLT and closes on March 3rd at 5PM SLT.

February 14th is their blogger day so I hope most, if not all, the designers will be set up by then. Even if they’re not though, I am still excited to show it to you guys as the build takes inspiration from Knockturn Alley.

Here are some links for the events:

I’ll be live streaming here at 5am SLT, watch live on my YouTube channel:

One Billion Rising in Second Life

One Billion Rising is an event that happens every Valentine’s Day (February 14th), since 2012 for 24 hours, to raise awareness and end violence against women. This event was brought into Second Life in 2013 and has been continuing that tradition since then. I try to visit One Billion Rising in SL each year and I will try to do that this year as well.

Dunk-A-Linden & Hug-A-Linden Event

Linden Lab is running their annual Dunk-A-Linden & Hug-A-Linden Event on February 14th at 10am till 12pm (noon) SLT.  That’s not the best time for me work wise but I will try and attend if I can. Even if I don’t make it, I hope you guys are able to go and hug or dunk a linden. I did it in 2018 and in 2017, and it was so much fun.

I’ll be live streaming here at 10am SLT, watch live on my YouTube channel:

Weekly Roundup

I’m doing a mid-week roundup to cover a few topics I wanted to talk about.

Love Made in SL

Love Made in SL is a new limited-run mini-series showcasing the many real stories of romance in the virtual lives of the Second Life community.

Over the next few months, Linden Lab will unveil a series of short video profiles that tell the many stories of couples discovering love in Second Life. In the first episode, we meet Teal and Wolf, a charming couple that met 10 years ago in Second Life. Watch their episode on YouTube:

Catch future episodes of “Love Made in SL” on Second Life’s official Facebook page or YouTube channel. “Love Made in SL” is produced for Second Life by virtual journalist Draxtor Despres. If you’d like to be considered for a future edition, please contact Draxtor inworld.

Donation Instead of Gifts

Ever since I announced my pregnancy a number of you have asked me if you can send me a gift; a few of you have already sent me gift cards to online stores where I can purchase baby items from; and one of you asked me if you can throw a baby shower for me in Second Life.

I am incredibly flattered and appreciative of all the love and gifts you guys want to send my way. However, one of my fears about announcing the pregnancy was that people would want to send me things and I do not ever want to make anyone feel like they need to do that. I am incredibly blessed in the real world and I honestly don’t need anything, but thank you, so much.

For those that still really want to send me something, can I offer an alternative? Please consider sending a newborn baby kit to a mom in Zimbabwe. These kits only cost $21 and are filled with clothing, baby soap, diapers, and other necessities which they will really need. You can also dedicate this baby gift to anyone, so if you decide to go this route for me, please send me an eCard at my email address ([email protected]) so I know that you’ve done this for me. I will much prefer this over any other gift.

The only thing I really need from you guys though is a lot of prayers and good thoughts for mine, my baby’s and my family’s health.

Thank you again for everything and I hope you guys can join me while I explore Second Life tomorrow! Happy Valentine’s Day! <3
