Genesis Lab Molly & Jade Bento Heads

Genesis Lab Molly Bento Head

I haven’t blogged a Genesis Lab head since September and there have been several releases since then. I have had a very hard time with their shapes and of course my lack of time. Here are the releases I have not blogged as of yet: Marlene & Edward, Jade & Jaden, and now Molly. In this post I will be blogging Molly & Jade.

I will not be blogging Marlene & Edward as they were gacha heads and I kind of want to get away from blogging gacha heads now. I wanted to blog the Jaden head that goes with the Jade head at the same time, but I couldn’t get his neck to fit properly with my Signature body at all. No matter what I tried, there is a huge gap between the head and neck. If you have a solution for this, please let me know.

Here is some information about Molly:

  • Price: The price of Molly is L$4000 and the DEMO is free. For that price you get a white skin-less version of the head that you can see on the left side of this image. It was released at the Uber event and will be there for another month and after that it will be available at the Genesis Lab mainstore. If it is not there after the event, please contact the designer to encourage her to release it to the store.
  • Skin Appliers: Since the head comes skin-less you need to purchase some skin appliers for it. The Genesis Lab Jade skin appliers are available separately for L$500 per skin tone and those are the ones I am wearing in today’s post.
  • Body Appliers: They have body appliers with 10 skin tones and 3 cleavage options which are available for Maitreya, SLink, Belleza, Vista Hands, Omega and default body. All costs L$200 each, in the Genesis Lab mainstore.
  • Omega Compatibility: This head comes with an Omega version in the folder so this head is Omega compatible. You can pick up the Omega kit on the marketplace at this link. Please note, it is only Omega Compatible for makeup, not skins. Check Omega blog for details.
  • Body Parts: It comes with rigged ears and eyes which you need to wear or wear your own in their place. It also comes with rigged teeth and lacrimal caruncle attachments.
  • Main HUD: The mesh head comes with three HUDs. The first is the main settings HUD that has three tabs on it:
    1. Genetic Tab: In this tab you can change the color of your eyes, eyelash length and color, ear color, teeth and tongue, beauty marks and freckles and hairbase.
    2. Makeup Tab: in this tab you have a wide variety of makeup to choose from: eyeshadows, eyeliners, blush and contour and lipstick.
    3. Settings Tab: In this tab you have neck fit, teeth and tongue accessories, and skin shine.
  • Basic Animation HUD: The second HUD comes with 12 basic animations, 8 static eye & lip poses, eyes rotation and blinking and talking options.
  • Typer HUD: The third HUD is a typer HUD that you just attach so when you type, your lips will move.
  • Customer Service Questions: If you have any questions about this head, it would be best if you looked at the designer’s profile, their name is GenesisLab, to see how they prefer to be contacted for customer service issues as I will probably not be able to assist you with that.

  • After considerable searching, I have yet to find a mesh head creator that uses the standard Linden avatar head as a starter. Am I incorrect in thinking that if such a head were available I could use the shape editing sliders as I do now to duplicate the head/face I’ve had for nearly a decade? I’ve tried numerous Bento mesh heads and can come close to my unique look only under certain lighting conditions.

I really like Genesis heads. They have a very different look than others on the market, most more mature which I appreciated.

I have more than a few but, like you, find the necks are not as seamless with bodies as other heads. I tend to wear them only if the outfit I have on has a high neckline. I’m not great at editing to fix the discoloration nor the feathering I see in the area.

I did have good luck with Anis or maybe it was just luck that day.

Perhaps it’s just the shapes I’m using (although I’ve modified all without much luck). Will try yours out and see if they help.

  • Uccello, I am not sure that any mesh head designer uses the standard linden avatar. I believe they try to create their own unique looks.

Elora, yeah I do see the seam in yours very faintly though. I do have that issue with Genesis Lab heads if I don’t watch my windlight settings. I am not sure why their heads have more seams than others but with windlight and sometimes with the neckfix, it can be fixed.

I agree with Uccello, someone should make a standard Linden shaped head (and body!) so that the sliders we’ve so carefully tweaked for years would just transfer straight over. I’ve tried lots and lots of demos of both heads and bodies and have yet to find either that will duplicate the shape that I want. I’ve got the sliders over to zero and still need to be able to adjust farther.

I appreciate that designers want to create their own looks, but they should also apprecaite that some of us want to keep our own look, not their’s.

  • I love the blogs very easy to follow. One thing I did noticed on the video is that you said you would not be showing the hairbase, but isn’t the point of the vid to show all?
