Catwa Kimberly Bento Mesh Head

Catwa Kimberly Bento Mesh Head

Catwa released her second female bento head a few days ago, her name is Kimberly. Her first female bento head was called Catya and I blogged it at this link and her male bento head is called Daniel and I blogged it at this link.

Here is some information about Kimberly:

  • Price: The price of this head is L$5000 and it is available at the Catwa mainstore as well as the marketplace. The DEMO is free and available in both places as well.
  • Omega Compatibility: This head is omega compatible, as are all the other Catwa mesh heads. You can pick up the omega relay hud for Catwa heads on marketplace.
  • Layers: This head has 3 layers: The first layer is for skin and then it has two layers for makeup on top of that, which are divided into different sections, providing you many options for a more customized look.
  • HUDs: The head comes with two HUDs: the master HUD and the Animations HUD. The master HUD has all of the skin, makeup and hairbase options. The Animations HUD controls blinking, talking, static eyes and lips and 24 expressions.
  • Rigged Eyes: The head comes with rigged eyes that should be worn with it and can be changed and modified using the Catwa Mesh Eyes HUD as well as any appliers made for Catwa mesh eyes.
  • More Information: For more information about Catwa Bento heads, click over to Catwa’s website for a detailed post as well as her youtube channel for an even more detailed video.
  • Customer Service Questions: If you have any questions about this head, it would be best if you looked at the designer’s profile, her name is Catwa Clip, to see how she prefers to be contacted for customer service issues as I will probably not be able to assist you with that.

Now watch my video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/My-jiftV_q0

Here is the list of skins I applied on myself in the video:

  7. Egozy Shenty
  8. Session Mia
  9. YSYS Susanna
  10. Amara Beauty Jewel

I have to admit, I really like this head quite a bit. I find her to be very pretty and I loved all of the features. Please make sure to pick up a DEMO and try the sliders our for yourself.

In the video, while I was messing with the sliders, I was talking about how wonderful it is that we can now customize our mesh heads to our liking and I was wondering what you guys do when you pick up bento heads. Do you make your own shape for the head, do you purchase a shape that you like for it or do you just go with whatever shape it comes with? I wonder how many people take the time to customize the bento heads to their liking. Let me know in the comments!

If you are not familiar with Bento, here is some information and links that will explain it in detail:

  1. What is Bento? On December 15th, 2015, Linden Lab announced a new project called Bento. Basically what they are doing is adding additional bones to the Second Life avatar skeleton to support both rigging and animation.

  1. I admit i’ve never been fond of mesh head (yeah, i whas this attached to my system face, lol), as i never found a mesh head that was “me”, with the Logo Alex being the only exception. But then i heard of Bento and decided to wait a it more, and i’m glad i did it!
I have Catwa Catya, and unless another bento head with a similar shape to my system shape will come out (looking at you, Logo), i don’t plan to buy another one (even because they’re too much expensive for my wallet, lol). I spent quite some times trying to make a shape that was similar to my system face, and luckily Catya’s features weren’t so far from my own. And with my own skin on it (i don’t like to change skin often, i stick to one for years) i got a very nice result, for me at least! :)
As usual, your videos are always informative and well done!

  2. I LOVE Bento heads and have been playing with my Catya head daily since I got it. The nice thing is that the combination of slider control coupled with different skins produces very different looks. I have found that subtle changes in sliders make a big difference in the looks. The first week or so with my Catya head was so frustrating because I was making very big changes with some sliders that only needed small subtle changes to get the look I wanted. So yes, I create my own shapes but also my own brow base so I can control the look of the eyebrows as well. Makes for more fun in SL too.

  3. Hello Berry looking fabulous as Always For me I am still sliding my Sunday afternoon away on bought shapes Still trying to find the real inkie inside of the heads :S

  4. Thank you for a great video, Berry!
To answer your question, I’m so glad Bento came to SL, I just love it and think it’s the future of SL. So many variations to customize, you can make look you want.
I was wondering if one day it will be so easy to edit shapes/heads in SL like in Sims 4 several years ago, when I was trying to customize system avatar shape to make it look close to Frida Kahlo lol. And voila, now it’s possible.
I make my own shapes especially for skin I want to use. Because the same head shape can look different with different skins. What about buying shapes, I don’t buy, but if I see a shape and like it much I surely will purchase it.
Honestly I love to customize and I’m glad designers create also male bento heads or update existing heads to bento. Hope to see more and more ideas and creativity with bento generation meshes ;)

  5. I’ve held off for the moment on getting any of Catwa’s Bento heads. I’m still very found of her Cindy head and am hoping that she’ll make another Bento head that is more ethnic looking in the future. I’ve just found that I can’t even get close to the look that I want, even with all of the different shapes that are available on Marketplace. So for the moment I have Lelutka, because of the rebate they had going on and it as too great of a deal to pass up.

I’ve tried the demos of the bento heads and I’m debating about purchasing Catya. Kimberly is really nice but I can’t see myself purchasing it. I would personally create a style that I liked just like I do with my mesh bodies. Personally, I’m actually appalled at some of the prices of bento head shapes on the MarketPlace!!

I’m really excited to see what other bento mesh heads that come out in the future :)

I have also tried AK bento mesh heads and they are all lovely as well! I’m torn between a few of them as well. :/

  8. I’ve been very excited about the bento heads because they are modifiable. My goal is to modify one to match my original avatar. So far I have not succeeded. but I’m not giving up. I don’t know why it’s so hard but to me it’s just not worth wearing a mesh head if it doesn’t look like “me”.

  9. I have both the Catya and Simone bento heads. I used the shapes that came with the heads, I changed the body shape to my shape using my digits and then had to tweak the heads to get the look I wanted. I tried making my own shape without using the bodies that came with it, but just too frustrating for me! I have to have a base shape to start with. I was never really attached to my system head to begin with, I just want a pleasing look for my head and having the sliders is great as some skins require a little tweaking.

I take time to shape the head. It is important to me to feel like me while in world

  12. Cherryblonde Scribe says:

Most people I know were eagerly awaiting Bento heads with some hope of recreating their old system head. In our part of the game we are identified by our faces and our regular look is important. I wanted that too, though I had been wearing Lelutka’s Karin, but while demo-ing Catwa’s Catya I discovered I like Karin better than old system chry head, which I made myself. Well … tweaked a freebie as a noob, if I am honest lol.
When Lelutka released Simone, I bought it and spent three days tweaking my usual shape to a fusion of chryhead and Karin. I really want a Karin bento, because I am not fond of the lip shape on Simone, but I am mostly happy with the outcome, and many people say it looks fairly close to how they remember my system head.

  13. With regular system shapes I always made my own. I’ve noticed that with the bento mesh heads, a good starting shape makes it much easier to create the look you want. Just starting from scratch (with a fresh shape, not the one the creators include in the pack) is really frustrating. Maybe I just need to practice more.

I bought Kimberly and purchased a shape I thought was pretty. I ended up not liking it very much (no demo) but then I saw that ChicChica has a pack of free bento shapes at their store. They looked nicely made so I picked those up, chose the one I liked the best, and edited it until I was happy with it. I only purchase shapes for the face – I have body #s that I always use and I just input those manually. Now I’m really liking the way my av looks. I also tweak my shape over time and if I change skins (rarely) I will make minor adjustments.

  14. When I first read about Bento, I was very excited with the idea of change the mesh head appearance. My intention is having a mesh head similar to my system head. When the first Bento mesh head was released, I realized that we can’t do all we want. The heads have some particular aspects we can’t change with sliders, just like mesh bodies.
I have been tried all Bento heads that were released so far and I made a shape for each of them. But I only bought Catya and Genesis Eva. I tried Catya demo for about two months before buying. I spent long days trying to create a shape I really liked and I tested each of them with more than 40 skin appliers. I only bought it when I got a perfect match between the shape and a Glam Affair skin. With Eva the empathy was almost immediate, I only spent a few hours on shape and got the result I wanted. For both I started to create the shape from 0.
So, in my opinion, before buy a Bento mesh head and spend money or time on shapes, I learned to only try heads that already have at least some traces I like and then adjust the shape to what I effectively have in mind. We are not abble to do miracles in shapes even with Bento heads.

  15. If not for you I never would have been able to navigate a return to SL! I jumped right into an Akeruka Bento Head purchase (Elen) and then struggled to find appliers on my own. Until you posted a great list of options.

I finally invested in the Lelutka Simone head mainly for more applier choices. In both cases, I started with my system shape and spent hours adjusting sliders until I was comfortable. It’s definitely NOT the same as sliders for a system head, but I LOVE being able to customize my mesh shape.

I tried the Catwa Catya bento head and actually purchased your shape from the Marketplace because I got seriously frustrated customizing my own. Even then, I couldn’t the nose to work for me.

Your blog has truly been indispensable to me over the past month. Thank you for still putting so much of your time and effort into such a valuable resource for the Second Life community. You’re the bee’s knees! <3

  17. Just beautiful! I love this creation, but the price scares me.

I recently purchased the [AK] Lara bento head, and I love it. I started with the included shape and wrote down some of the basic head settings, then modified my usual shape to make the head look good. I do wish there was a way to copy just the head settings to an existing shape.
