Project Bento Mesh Head Preview from Akeruka

In today’s post I am sharing something with you that is definitely going to be a game changer! Akeruka has released a Bento mesh head preview of their Lola mesh head for only L$99. Here is some information about Bento and the mesh head:

  1. What is Bento? On December 15th, 2015, Linden Lab announced a new project called Bento. Basically what they are doing is adding additional bones to the Second Life avatar skeleton to support both rigging and animation.
  2. Weekly Meetings – Linden Lab has been having weekly meetings about Bento, which everyone is invited to. It is on the Aditi grid and they announce them on the Bento User Group wikipage every week. There is one today at 1pm SLT, you should go!
  3. Second Life Project Bento Viewer – You need to download the Second Life Project viewer for Bento in order to use this mesh head and other Bento items until it is released to the main viewer.
  4. Akeruka Bento Mesh Head is L$99 – This mesh head is only L$99 but you must join the Akeruka Mesh Head group in order to purchase it. The group should be free to join. Check out Akeruka’s video about this head on their YouTube channel!
  5. Modifiable shape – You need to wear a shape that you have the permissions to modify in order to play with the features on this mesh head. Just edit your shape and start playing with the sliders.

Now you can head down to the Akeruka mainstore to pick one up for yourself and play around with. Don’t forget to download the project viewer first and check out the Bento User Group meeting today if you get the chance!

This is so wonderful. I have a few mesh heads, but I’ve never been happy with the fact that they don’t look like me*.

I’ll especially be happy to get rid of the pouty lips so many head designers seem to prefer.

    Thanks for posting this.

  2. […] all the details you can get them from Strawberry Singh’s blog Here What an awesome blog! Thanks […]

  3. […] you’re too impatient to wait for Bento and would like to get creative on your own, you can purchase and download the Yabusaka Mesh Head […]

  4. Cristalle Karami says:

This is awesome and I am super glad that Akeruka will retrofit all their mesh heads for Bento compatibility. They are very well made products, customization will just increase their value.

  5. MISTAKE….
Weekly Proj Bento meetings are on Hippotropolis, AGNI @ 1PM SLT.

    Otherwise really good explanation.

  6. […] Singh has a video showing the head and writes a bit about the project. See: Project Bento Mesh Head Preview from Akeruka. Nice head and looks well […]

  7. This is the one thing I have been waiting for the most impatiently! I have never found a mesh head that pleased me half as much as my own shape I’ve evolved over years. Game changer, indeed! Thank you for the helpful video.

  8. Cougar Sangria says:

I have not purchased a mesh head yet and have tried numerous ones. For me they have not provided enough personalization so I have waited patiently for Bento to hit the grid. Loved the video. Lots more sliders to play with to make a mesh head my own. We shall see.

  9. Thank you very much for this information!! I was waiting for this to buy a mesh head. Now I know any mesh head I choose I can make it my own!! Yay!! <3

  10. Hi there :) i love the idea of modifiable mesh heads but you mentioned trying omega skins on this head as well. did they work?

  11. Thanks for the all comments everyone! I have just blogged another Bento head coming soon as well: https://strawberrysingh.com/2016/09/20/project-bento-updates-second-life

Mae, I was unable to try the omega applier because this Bento version of the head doesn’t come with Omega, it was just a preview for bento so it’s very bare bones. The other heads have omega though.

  12. Shoot! We’ll have to wait then, but thank you for the video! :))

  13. I wanted to ask if about if there was any very nice mono-lidded asian skins for this head? I do like the one of the heads but am big on skin being asian for my avatar.

  14. […] their Bento Preview head, Akeruka has released 4 other mesh heads. I can’t keep up with all the mesh head releases on the grid […]

  15. Strawberry,
You should find one of the old system facial expression huds and see if they affect the bento HUD. Those are the same expressions that are utilized with animations to make you shout, or look excited, or startled. They’re in a lot of furniture and in Xcite products. It would be interesting to see you do a video showing those expressions. Just the regular ones, not the Xcite ones!

    Thanks!
    Katerina Kirax

PS – I am going to run, not walk, to get this bento head as soon as I login tonight, I hope it is still available!

  16. oops, affect the bento head, not hud!

Has any one put n a bento head and there reg does not look like it should. Is it natural with the added bones to have to tweek your face so it looks the same…

  18. This is the right site for anybody who hopes to find out about this topic. You realize a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not that I actually would want to…HaHa). You certainly put a new spin on a subject that has been discussed for a long time. Great stuff, just great!
