Dancing Particles

Dancing Particles

Cole’s Corner is owned by the talented ColeMarie Soleil. I have been wanting to make a video of the beautiful particle art she makes for a long time, finally got around to it! She has a wide variety of particles you can attach to yourself while dancing, walking, running, etc… for your own desired effect. I showed at least 15 different ones in my video.

Please note, particles do add a bit of lag if you wear them, especially in crowded areas. You’ll also notice that my video got choppy every time I was switching between them. Once you wear it and it’s fully rezzed though, it doesn’t cause that choppy problem, at least not for me anyways. Also, please note in order to see particles, you must turn them up in your graphics settings under preferences. I showed how to do that at the starting of my video.

You can find Cole’s Corner on the Second Life marketplace as well as inworld on The Twilight sim. ColeMarie also has a flickr and a YouTube channel where she shares images and videos of her art.

UPDATE: Please note that some of the particles I used in the video are older and now retired. I just used what I had from before to give you an example of her work. She has loads more newer and updated items in her store!

I was wearing some of her particles earlier when I was exploring the grid and ran into Caitlin Tobias. She snuck a picture of us that was so cute, I had to share! It was great seeing you Caitlin! <3

OHAI Berry!

Happy dancing!

I am not sure it was this same maker but I had a woman come to my sim wearing this and the lag was heavy on us. It was palpable, I still want to try this as this is very cool. Thank you for showing it.

  • These would look great in a club – especially the ‘spotlight’ one near the beginning – but I rarely have particles enabled when I’m out and about. This is mainly because my ping to SL (around 140ms on an 8MB transatlantic connection, compared to around 50ms for someone in the States) can be so abysmal that – in the time it took you to change from one particle set to another – they wouldn’t have even rezzed yet, and you would have been surrounded by little grey squares XD

  • Carla, yeah as I mentioned in my post these do add a bit of lag, however I also know that these ones in particular are scripted to be very low script-times so shouldn’t have a major affect on sims. Even if someone is really feeling it though, they just need to turn the particles off in their graphics settings and it’ll be fine.

Skell I hear ya, I usually keep my particles off too. I actually turned them on for this video lol. But it is pretty cool to play with if you go dancing.

They all looked fantastic and will work perfectly for photo effects as well I bet. Will have to check them out. Thank you for showing them!

I recognise where you and Caitlin Tobias are and I was there yesterday too. Guess I missed running into you both.

Oh how much fun is this? 🙂 And thank you for reminding me of ColeMarie. I have been to some of her events but it was years ago and I had no idea she had her own place. I’ll definitely be checking this out.

Just wanted to add a hint that might help – If you have attached particles disabled for a bling-free SL, you will need to turn them back on. Well worth it for this great use of particles!

  • Aw! It was great to see you too, Berry! Even though I landed on you. On a landing-spot. 😛
(Loving the particles, I may need them too!)

  • Thanks for all the comments you guys! I’m happy you are liking ColeMarie’s work! 😀

Gryphon, that is a great hint, thank you for sharing!

I run a venue and have often a visual artist there and also ppl are using particles … if the particles are amde gppd and not cheap they cause less lag than heavy scriptes hair shoes or jewellerys in my opion 🙂
