Ballerina

Siddean Munro of SLink has recently released two new sets of feet: the kitten style and the point style, along with a separate Deluxe Pack for the female feet which comes with all five of the sets of feet she currently sells that can be controlled by a single HUD. I have done a little video below explaining how it all works. I’m embedding that below along with a little explanation of some of the costs and other details.

Some details about the new SLink Female Feet Deluxe Pack:

  • The deluxe pack is not an update, but it is a new product, available now for the first time.
  • The price of the deluxe pack right now is L$1350 until April 16th. After that, the price will go up quite a bit to reflect the cost of all 5 feet styles that it comes with.
  • Each style is also sold separately for L$675 so the cost of the deluxe pack right now is worth the same amount as two styles of feet if bought individually.
  • All previous versions of SLink Physique, Hourglass and both hands and feet have been updated so if you have previously purchased any of these, head down to the SLink mainstore and hit the redelivery terminal for all the free updates.
  • The Margot ballet slippers I am wearing in this post have also been updated and can be redelivered if you have previously purchased them as well.
  • If you have any questions or customer service inquiries about any of these products, please check out Siddean’s detailed blog post or contact SLink Resident for CSR help.

Since I was dressed up as a pretty ballerina, I couldn’t help but do another dancing in Second Life video to add to the Monday Meme collection.

A few notes about these videos:

  • Mirror Water – If you are wondering how I created the mirror effect on the floor, please see my Mirror Water tutorial that I did back in 2012.
  • Video Capturing SoftwareI use Camtasia to capture all of my videos and edit them. I am not very good at editing as I don’t know too much about it but I am looking up tutorials for Camtasia now to see if I can improve my editing skills a bit. Camtasia is not free so you can find some other possibly free screen capturing softwares mentioned in this plurk.
  • Dancing in Second Life PlayList – Quite a few people have taken up my Monday Meme challenge so far and my dancing in Second Life playlist is expanding daily. Feel free to check it out on my YouTube channel to see all of the fun dancing videos the residents have been sharing.

  • Your images are always amazing, and the props/clothes you have become part of a shopping wish list! Have you ever considered doing makeovers on people’s avatars?!

  • I actually love Crystal’s idea! You have amazing taste, please consider it!

  • I’m very flattered that you both feel I can do that but honestly I’m just a girl that likes to ramble in her blog and take pictures. I’m not a stylist or fashionista so I wouldn’t really feel comfortable helping people with their style or avatars. I imagine it would also be very time consuming, something I’m already short on when it comes to Second Life and also I wouldn’t even know what to charge for that.

I guess in a sense, this is what my blog already does though, helps people style themselves but giving them the option to pick and choose from the items they like once they see them on me.

Thank you for the compliments though, very much appreciated! <3

  • Just wanted to mention, for your readers who are not good at photo shopping. that PicMonkey has a new mirror effect, that creates the mirror effect like yours, and it is easy, the effects are not.

Beautiful video, Berry! That one is just inspiring.

Oooooo– Thank you for sharing your thoughts/discoveries/interests in ballet in SL. There was once a ballet pixel (or some name like that) run by a few RL dancers and choreographers. It’s an interesting story of how someone really pushed what could be done with the arts in SL; they made their own animations; they even had corporate sponsorship from the RL IBM for a little while (seemingly). I don’t know what happened to them.

I’m a dancer and I love ballet, but it’s simply not possible for me to dance serious ballet. Ballet is so geeky and competitive and so amazing: it’s a strange world (RL). What was very interesting to me is trying some of the motion captures of dancers who are quite good. The ballet mocaps I like most are from MyAnimations; there’s also a really fun (and really well-danced) continuous pirouette en dehors from A&M MOCAP called “01_Ballet”. Try the packs: play one after the other. They sequence nicely. The MyAnimations aren’t from professional dancers, but it’s actually nice that they show the movements of someone who is learning and trying and loving dancing and they are really beautiful to watch. You can learn a lot about dancing by watching people who are learning and making “mistakes”!

Very, very, very, very, very, very few people are able to dance classically seriously: but everyone can get to understand their body and movement and love the experience of any level of dance. My favorite teacher taught me that 99.99% of dancing is in your head; I really agree with that. So I completely agree that people who say they love dancing in SL are experiencing something genuine. I think dancing in your head and also in RL is best, but I’ve met some para/quadripegics in SL. They love dancing in SL and it makes complete sense to me.

I noticed something weird: the mocaps look more realistic when your avi is close to the size/shape of the RL person who was mocapped.

  • As I was trying on different skins on my Catwa head(s) and then adding the skins to the Catwa texture panel, it dawned on me that my SLife would be even better if Siddean would create a HUD to also store various skins to apply to her feet and hands. While this new Deluxe HUD is getting closer to that wish, I was still disappointed that it didn’t include that feature. I’ll still get the new HUD because you can’t beat changing feet with a touch of a button (finally) but maybe more people should request the texture feature too. 🙂

  • Starved I took a look at Picmonkey.com and the new feature they have is to create a mirror image (a copy) of whatever image you currently have, not actually a reflection. The reflection I have in my photo and video is not actually photoshopped at all, it’s a trick you can do inworld. Take a look at the Mirror tutorial I linked to and you’ll see!

    Thank you Cristalle and Gealya!

Linda that is a great idea for Siddean, you should suggest it to her!
