Second Life Avatar Physics Tutorial
Last year I released a few physics layers on the marketplace for L$1. Since then I’ve received a wonderful response to them along with many questions on how to modify them. Today I was finally able to make a tutorial showing you guys how you can edit those layers, or create your own physics layer, if you like. I also showed you how to completely turn off physics in Second Life so you never have to see anyone bounce if you prefer!
Video Tutorial on Youtube: https://youtu.be/JQTvnYyoIf0
Some notes about the tutorial:
- Firestorm Physics – All of the information I shared in the video tutorial above can be found on the Firestorm Physics Page written out in full detail and with even more information so I highly recommend you visit that page.
- You can purchase my Physics layers on marketplace for L$1 at this link. These are made for female avatars only. I am not sure if they will work with other avatars.
- In order for the physics to work properly with mesh clothing, you need to wear clothing that is rigged for the particular body you are wearing or your body parts will just fall out of the mesh clothing. I am wearing the Maitreya mesh body in the video with clothing that is specifically rigged for that body from Blueberry.
If you have any further questions about physics, feel free to leave a comment or email me and I’ll do my best to answer them if I can.
Don’t forget to check out more of my tutorials on my Tutorials page as well as my Second Life Tutorials PlayList on my YouTube Channel!
Happy bouncing! <3

Hi, Berry.
Thank you for the tutorial, I had no idea that creating a physics layer would be so simple.
I’m not sure how you feel about random people suggesting video ideas to you, so I’m sorry if this seems rude, but have you ever considered doing a tutorial on how to keep a neat, organised inventory?
Mine is horrific and I could really use the help!
Thanks for another fantastic blog entry! ♥
Thank you Amy, I’m happy you found it informative.
So many people ask me to do inventory organizing videos but I am the worst at keeping my inventory organized lol. It is a complete mess, I just can’t keep up with the amount of content that comes in. I do however highly recommend Anya Ohmai’s inventory tutorials, they are very detailed. Hopefully you’ll find them informative: http://blog.ohmai.net/?cat=331
I totally understand, I can only imagine how many items you have, haha.
Thanks so much for the link, much appreciated!
Woah! Your settings are on ultra, I’ve noticed. What kind of computer do you use? Sorry, it’s irrelevant but.. Wow..
And it runs super smooth!
Hi Freaty, my computer system specs are listed on this page: https://strawberrysingh.com/about/berrys-system-specifications

Thank you for the excellent tutorial! What is the walk animation you use in the video?

Hi Anita. The walking animation I purchased back in 2007 from Maitreya but I don’t believe they sell animations anymore.
Hi Anita, I asked Berry the same question. But I just pulled a walk anim from a HUD and used that to assist with following Berry’s excellent video.

please, what viewer you use? I am using the official and is not what appears on your when I try to do the same.
Hello Raquel, I use the Firestorm viewer.

Great Tutorial! But I do have one question: How can I wear piercings when I wear physics? The “bouncing” is great and totally realistic but my belly and breast piercings stay in the same spot, while my body moves … where do I have to attach them?
