Left in the Dark

halo (click here for a raw shot) (raw shot with necklace)

I do want to apologize for the darkness of the images today. I know as a blogger I shouldn’t be doing such dark images but instead they should be more bright and clear so they show the items well, but I don’t do it often! I just thought it would be fun to try something a bit different this time.

My main focus was the hair, I’m kind of in love with it. However, I am a bit late in blogging it. It’s a release from Boon which was at Hairology for the month of January but now the event is over. I am hoping it is now in the Boon mainstore. It is all mesh and unrigged so you should be able to wear it with any mesh head and even the default SL head. I am wearing the Catwa Annie head today.

The other item that I loved is the necklace which is a statement piece from Maxi Gossamer. It will be released at FaMESHed starting February 1st. I forgot to wear it in the first image so you don’t see the back of it in my images here. However, here is a link to another bright and clear image I did which shows the back of the necklace in the color black. The necklace also has silver and gold metal options. Keep an eye on Maxi Gossamer’s blog for more details about it soon.

The gown I’m wearing is a sexy little number from Miss Chelsea. It was released back in November at an event, but now it can be found at the Miss Chelsea mainstore as well as the marketplace.

left in the dark (this is a raw shot)

The second image in this post is a raw shot straight from Second Life, the only thing I did was crop and resize it. Also, if you look at the linked raw shot of the first image, you will see that I barely did anything to it, just cleaned it up a bit. I love the fact that now with windlight, mesh bodies, mesh heads, mesh hair, mesh clothing, mesh jewelry and more, our Second Life avatars and images can be so close to perfection without much effort. I have to admit, I am really enjoying everything the grid has to offer these days. A big thank you to all of the creative talent that provides me with hours of entertainment and enjoyment! <3

  • Berry, don’t apologize for doing “artistic shots”, because you also do the plain shots that help us shop. Both are good. I should buy that hair and try it with “oscar” looks for Harper G’s contest. I should also buy the jewelry.

Don’t EVER feel that you need to say sorry for your artistic interpretation of something! This is your blog, your creative platform, so you don’t have to explain the reasoning behind your presentation decisions to anyone. If anyone tries to bitch you out for the way YOU decide to present items in YOUR space, then they can suck up their faux indignation and show the same items nicely and prettily in full-bright Windlight on their own blogs.

If you feel bad about not showing the product clearly (which I guess most creators would probably prefer bloggers to do when they kindly drop review copies on us) then place a simple white-backgrounded studio shot at the end of the darker images, to show the items clearly. (And anyway, if someone rushes out to buy something without demoing it, then decides you misrepresented the item in your darkened images, it’s their own damn fault for not demoing!)

But, if the mood strikes you to do ‘that dark thing’, go right ahead and do it. You need nobody’s permission to run with whatever your imagination comes up with 🙂

  • Berry thank you for not only showing us “dark” images (which I love) but also some of your raw shots. It gives me so much valuable insight on where you may start from and the way you get to the finished image, Always instructive 🙂

    Cheers,

  • Ok well then I apologize for apologizing! 😛 LOL

Seriously though, thank you. I appreciate it. This is my blog and I love to play around and enjoy myself while blogging, but I always wonder in the back of my mind of what my readers would prefer. I guess I should just let that go and do me!

Thank you all for the encouragement and input! <3
