Catwa Jackson Mesh Head
Catwa has released a male mesh head today named Jackson. Here is some information about him:
- The price of this head is L$3599.
- The DEMO is free and available on marketplace and the Catwa mainstore.
- The Developers Kit for skinners is free and available on marketplace and the Catwa mainstore.
- This head does not come with its own skin layer for body or an applier. It comes with a skin that matches the skin tones of the male L’Etre skins. You can go to the L’Etre Mainstore and pick up the appliers for the SLink male mesh body to match the skin on the head. However, I did not see regular male skins or appliers for any other mesh body there. Not sure if they haven’t been released yet or if they didn’t rez for me or I just didn’t see them. You can head down to the L’Etre Mainstore to check for yourself before purchasing.
- So far, as far as I know, there are no 3rd party appliers for this mesh head as of yet. But, it was just released today and the Developers kit is available for free so I’m hoping many skinners will have skins for this head soon. You can keep an eye on the Catwa Mesh Heads flickr group to see any new releases of appliers.
- This mesh head is animated in many ways with gestures, expressions, AO for Eyes, blinking speed, and talking animations that are triggered by typing in local chat.
- This head comes with a separate HUD for the head, beard, teeth and neck which has a neck size section that lets you choose from a list of different bodies to make your neck seamless. Also has a neck fix ON/OFF button that helps even further.

I really like this head, I find him to be very handsome. The animations are also very smooth and quite charming. The only drawback that I see at the moment is because of a lack of body appliers it is only possible to wear this head with the SLink male mesh body at the moment. But I am confident that will be resolved very soon as the other appliers are released because the Developers Kit is so easily accessible and free.

Bloody hell. FINALLY, a male mesh head that has some character and isn’t either a) a smooth model of perfection, or b) Mr Hunky Machismo. I might actually demo this one (and, knowing my general dislike of mesh heads, you’ll be aware that that’s saying something!), although it would be for photoshoots only. I’m still far too fond of Skell’s phiz to cover it with a mesh head every day.
The main reason this one has piqued my interest is because it has makeup options on the HUD. I know that most guys considering this mesh head wouldn’t even look at those, but they’re a huge plus point for me.
What’s worrying me is that TMP has already established itself as the leading mesh head out there. While some designers will, no doubt, create for more than one head, I’m pretty certain I read somewhere that the mapping for TMP heads/bodies is so vastly different from anything else, designers would have to make an entirely new set of maps for any other head, and couldn’t re-use TMP ones. (I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong on that point.) This means that – like skin-making was before Omega came along – it will create a LOT more work for designers to create multiple appliers, so they might just stick with TMP.
I’m already frustrated when I see *gorgeous* male skins and then I read the small print and see “TMP head appliers ONLY” there. *sigh*
Anyway, thanks for the video on this. Lucky for Manberry, I’m already taken, ’cause he’s kinda cute here :p
Addendum – before anyone comments to inform me – I’m sure the TMP head also has makeup options, but I refuse to buy anything from there for several reasons, which include item A in my comment above, as well as my dislike for certain of their business practices.
He has Elvis’ smile, thank you very much. But, my question is, the smile is only a 1/2 smile, no full smile available? He is a handsome guy.
