LeLutka Mesh Heads – Karin – Lotte – Stella

LeLutka Mesh Head - Stella (click here for a raw shot)

On Thursday, April 30th LeLutka will release three new mesh heads: Karin, Lotte and Stella. On April 1st they had released Aria, Ever and Leda. This second batch of heads look drastically different from the first batch, but come with similar options.

The HUD is the same with similar makeup and skin tone options. These heads will come with ten Glam Affair skin tones like the others. They are made to fit the Maitreya Lara Mesh body and also fit the SLink Physique, however they do not fit the Second Life default avatar. You can slightly change the shape of the heads by using the Second Life appearance shape sliders for Head Stretch & Head Length.

Other skin designers have started to make appliers for the LeLutka heads as well. You can see a list of all the designers that will be making appliers on the LeLutka blog. These designers were handpicked by the LeLutka team and more designers will be added to the list very soon. Here are links to the ones I noticed have already released or are about to:

> Adam n Eve – (My picture with Adam n Eve applier)
> Deetalez
> Izzie’s
> Lara Hurley
> New Faces
> YS&YS (My picture with YS&YS)

One of the most versatile things about the heads is that skin appliers made for the LeLutka mesh heads can be used with any of them, it is all interchangeable. This way you can create many different looks. Fellow blogger Grazia Horwitz has shown a great example of that by using the same head with five different skin appliers, each looking different and unique in its own way.

While you are waiting for Thursday to come around, have a look at the LeLutka Mesh Head Showcase Flickr Group to see more images of these heads. The other LeLutka bloggers are doing an amazing job photographing them and showing how versatile they can be. If you have any questions about the heads, the best person to contact is the LeLutka CSR, Mavi Beck.

Out of the 6 heads LeLutka has so far, my favorites are Ever, Karin and Stella. I am wearing Stella in the first image. She has a fierce look to her face and I feel her chin is just perfection. Although I still don’t feel like myself when I’m wearing the heads, I have seen myself reaching to wear them more often than I thought I initially would. They just have a great quality to them and are surprisingly not that difficult to use once you get the hang of the HUD. One thing I always worry about when I wear them though is getting my eyes right. For some reason, eyes are prone to look cross eyed more often with mesh heads, not sure why that is. And when they don’t look cross-eyed, they tend to have a blank look to them. So yes, getting the eyes right is something I still struggle with, but I do enjoy playing around with it.

Have you tried any mesh heads yet?

ooh, these ones look much more promising than the first three…I tried them on but something about the faces/chin sizes just looked sort of…off to me. Such a great and informative post, thank you, Berry 🙂

  • Amazing blog Berry! I can totally understand not feeling like ‘yourself’ in a mesh head. There is something undeniably ‘harsh looking’ about them (which in my opinion has nothing to do with the head design, but rather the fact that we’re not used to seeing SL faces in high definition. Actually being able to see the nose, cheeks and chin have a real ‘shape’ to them (and being able to see high quality textures on the face) is something quite new to everyone, given the fact that we’re all used to seeing the system face!

For the eyes, I use Ikon mesh eyes, and I have found I needed to adjust these a little outwards on my Leda head to avoid that cross-eyed look (though it’s very minor).

It’s great to see some less drastic chin options with the new heads, and I can’t wait to review them on my blog!

    Great post Berry!

  • Seems I need to sit calm and wait when all designers will make their appliers for those heads and when Lelutka make another ones 😀
Thanks for the post, Berry 🙂

  • I’ve played with mesh heads and bodies. In my opinion they aren’t quit ready for everyday use. I prefer my classic body with Slink hands.

There is no doubt these are lovely. But I can’t see the SL population with only 3 types of female DNA. Has to start somewhere but surely not for me.

You are right Berry, it is not Strawberry Singh. I can’t help but think clone.

    It is a start though.

  • These are a great improvement over the first set of heads, IMO. Not quite enough to make me buy one, but it definitely piques curiosity. Looking forward to the next set of heads!

  • I believe that the characteristics change bastate when changing the skin … depending on the set, makeup, skin and hair, they can look quite different even though the same head. (pardon the google translator errors if any, hihihi)

  • Very pretty and a very well done post.
I love my avatars face and a mesh head is like a mask. Hiding the avatar I created and love as an extension of myself in real life is a no go for me.

  • I dunno, I think you still somehow manage to look like YOU in the heads.

    Fix that, will you?

I ended up going back to my SL head the other day. There is something to be said for being able to tweak it and when I buy a new glam affair skin I get a new face, but with the mesh heads you don’t and I love grabbing the new faces.
I thought once the heads were released that when a new skin came out we would get an applier so we could have the new face, but it hasn’t happened yet and I don’t like being stuck with the same stern, emotionless look all the time. I prefer soft and cute with a hint of smile, not those down turned angry mouths that seem to be the rage everywhere you look.
Maybe once face appliers come out with new skin releases or you can change bits of the face with SL sliders I will waste a ton of L$ again. But not until then.

Oh! Oh! I am so excited! Is it Thursday yet?! I wrote in a previous post that I wasn’t really into the LeLutka heads because something was off about each of them for me. But, the shopping addict that I am, I still bought them. And then I bought all the third party makeup that was released for them. And then I bought all three DeeTaleZ skins as soon as they were released (I effing love DeeTaleZ). And I was determined to make myself like them, wearing them around, taking pictures, trying to get used to them. But honestly, I still wasn’t into them like I am my other heads. Now these have been announced and I’m over the moon! I can’t wait to buy them and I hope they look as great on as they do in pictures! LeLutka, take (more of) my money right now!

  • Counting minutes!! I cant leave the store lmao! Its already apr 30th \o/

  • Love, love, love these new heads so much! They were everything I was hoping for in the first set. I think Stella will be my main, but they are all beautiful.

  • As someone who has taken a lot of photos of my avatar and particularly her face, I have to say that either my tweaks added angles that require extra special care in lighting or I haven’t done a good job with it. I am curious if the mesh heads incur the same complications or solve them.

Of all the heads coming onto the market, LeLutka certainly has incredible support right out of the gate.

Why on earth are the differences between the 3 heads so INCREDIBLY SLIGHT??? I mean, why BOTHER??? All three, when you actually WEAR them, end up looking like pushed in faces; they are incredibly FLAT from the sides, something the “head length” toggle cannot correct…
