Weekly Roundup & Friday Find: Dalsgaard
Late with this week’s Friday Find, but better late than never, right? 😛
Friday Find: Dalsgaard
To find today’s Friday Find, I once again looked at my Explore Second Life flickr group and this image caught my eye. I had never heard of Dalsgaard before and as soon as I landed there, I would say mesmerized is the correct word to describe my state. I felt like I could spend hours there, zooming in on each piece and admiring it for its beauty. In fact, I am pretty sure I stood in the middle of the sim for at least 2 hours while my camera explored every nook and cranny. I was amazed.
Since I had never heard of this sim or artist, Mistero Hifeng, my curiosity got the better of me and I started googling. That’s when I found this detailed post by Honour McMillan discussing the sim, the artist and a thought provoking piece on gender in Second Life. Very interesting indeed.
More info and pictures at the following links:

UPDATE: When I wrote this post I didn’t know that Mr. Hifeng was granted an LEA sim to share more of his work. Inara Pey has done an excellent job of covering it. Click over and read and visit the sim to see more of his work.
Weekly Roundup
- Shopping events that started this week: Collabor88 (theme is OMG! Unicorns!), Seasons Story (winter theme), Leaf on the Wind (this is a personal fundraiser for an incredibly brave and beautiful girl, please click over and shop/support if you can, thank you).
- This week’s featured Photographer: Trinetty Skytower – I’ve admired Trinetty’s work for many years now. Her stream is a delight to peruse and her styling and use of colors are just magical. One of my most favorite shots of hers is Binary, the styling, editing, post processing, everything on this image is just perfection. Make sure to check out her whole stream!
- Rustica owner Maxwell Graf recently wrote a heartfelt letter to the man that inspired him to join Second Life and that resulted in a very positive article about Second Life. Thank you Max for sharing it with us. Click over and read Max’s exchange with journalist Wade Roush: Fan Mail from the Metaverse
- The Random New Year’s Resolution Generator – People are still talking about New Years resolutions and I saw someone pass this website around and I thought, why not, let’s see what this one has to say for me. Of course I chose hobbies because this resolution is supposed to be for my Second Life and this is what I got:
So if you’ll excuse me, I have some writing to do! 😛 - Buzzfeed Quiz of the week: What Book Do You Belong In? I love that I got my favorite book, but I’m not too sure I like the words that go along with it. Which book did you get?
Before I go, a big thank you to all of you that have participated in my Yearbook Challenge this week. Over 300 people have submitted their images in the Second Life Yearbook Flickr Group. It makes me so happy watching everyone having fun with this and it’s wonderful to see all of the creative avatars people create to express themselves in this virtual world. Thank you again and have a great weekend you guys! <3
Thank you for pointing us to that Wade Roush piece about Maxwell Graf and Second Life. I am excited to see such a positive post. I can’t wait to see what is next for virtual worlds in general and Second Life specifically!
Love the work made a post about it myself one week ago http://pixelstyles.blogspot.nl/2015/01/990-digital-art.html
Mistero Hifeng has been granted an LEA sim, LEA 29, for his artwork and it will be opening officially in a few days, although it’s basically installed now. Smiles. I knew what was coming here when I saw your image on flickr, saying blog post to follow.

Wow cool! I went to page 7 of his flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/incognitadelmistero/page7/ and there are endless photoshopped SL images… I love the mood of them. I started analyzing what photoshop techniques were used and was able to identify most of what’s being done. Inspires me as I do similar work with photoshop on SL photos (but not as good:) ) – gives me motivation and new ideas!
i visited this sim and found it fantastic, artistic, so interesting. I had to pose and take a picture…here is the result. There is nudity.

Thanks JMB, I didn’t realize he was granted an LEA sim when I wrote this post or I would have mentioned it. Luckily Inara did a great job covering it if people would like to see more of his work: https://modemworld.wordpress.com/2015/01/12/mistero-hifeng-at-lea29
