Taxi!

misty morning

It took me incredibly long to get ready today because I was determined to wear the mesh body and not give up. After a lot of shape adjusting, playing with the alpha hud and swearing at myself continuously, I finally got ready without any glitches or parts sticking out. I don’t know about you, but I feel pretty accomplished.

I love mesh but I have to admit, it has made the task of changing and getting ready in Second Life so much more time consuming. However, the end result does look pretty good, doesn’t it? I didn’t liquify myself at all or mess with my body too much in Photoshop, only the atmosphere and lighting. Here is a raw shot of one of these images.

Taxi!

Anyhow, since I got all dolled up for work, I figured I’d go somewhere to show it off. So I went to the New York City sim and took a taxi…alas no one was there.

I’m just not gonna change my clothes ever again.

  • I know JUST what you mean about how time consuming it is to get dressed when using a mesh body – sometimes I spend hours with mine. As much as I like them, sometimes I’d just assume NOT use them so I can get my butt out the door! ;-D Nicely done as always, Berry!!!

  • You look fabulous. I admit I am pretty over dressing mesh these days.

  • The whole mesh has thrown quick changing out the window even when you save an outfit you have to go find parts. It looks really nice and smooth.

  • I love mesh clothing but understand through a photography point it will looks nicer but for me to spend hours messing with a shape and whatever just will not be happening since I rather spend more time doing what for me SL is about and that is socializing with friends or exploring and taking pics but awesome job as usual on the look and the post

  • Hi, Berry! Love the “NYC Taxi” bit…very cosmopolitan and fun! (Too bad there wasn’t a crowd thronging in the streets, but still, the photos are excellent and very realistic.
I like the mesh body too – and the other attachment body parts. The only issue is just what you mention in the post: the struggle to get everything to work together to make for a nice fit for clothes, etc. It’s hard to get dressed in a hurry, anymore, and I usually end up (when I am short on time) switching out the clothes and hoping for the best! Most often, it works out, but I love makeup and all that, so I have to try hard to give myself enough time to change skin, hair, makeup, and the rest. It’s almost always worth the effort.
    🙂

  • I agree it does take a lot of time to get ready. I own 3 bodies at the moment. Slink, TheMeshProject and the old wowmeh. And every body is different. What I can’t wear with Slink I might be able to wear with TheMeshProject.
I can’t wait till this weekend so I can try the new body from Belleza. I had some bad experience with theshops/TheMeshProject so I am struggling a bit if I want to add more money into it. The new Belleza will be Slink Hands and Feet compatible that is a plus over TheMeshProject and I hope that the alpha layers will be smaller then the ones from Slink.

Slink body 1.4 is out. Don’t forget to update it.

  • I have an outfit saved that has the mesh body, hands and feet, all nakie waiting to be dressed. Then when there’s an update, I’ll throw away the old body, put the new body back in the folder. Then I’ll just re-save the outfit in the Appearance menu. I’ve made several shapes to play around with some mesh clothes that work pretty good.
If I’m just running around in world I usually don’t wear the mesh body. I also don’t see a need to wear it if most of the clothes I’m wearing are mesh. But it IS very nice for photos. Until creators start either building clothes around the specific mesh bodies, or use fitted mesh, it’s going to be a little frustrating to find things that fit bodies perfectly.

For me, I think its more than ridiculous to spend that much time getting ready. For you, having a popular blog and being a guide in all things SL its ok, let you spend the time instead of me hehe. 😀 Another reason I don’t have slink feet, yet more things to bother with. Altho I might have to bite the bullet soon, as its getting increasingly more difficult to find nice shoes ugh.

  • Thanks everyone for the compliments on the outfit. Took me so long to get it together, glad it was appreciated, lol.

Tracy that’s actually a great idea. I’ve saved a few outfits now with the different mesh bodies to make it a bit easier to dress. Thanks for the idea!
