Just one of them days
Today has been completely exhausting. There were too many people in my house and everyone was all up in my face, it really was just one of those days. I finally get to sit and relax a bit and take a breather.
I’ve been thinking over a lot of things this past month. I know I said I was going to start up my Monday Memes again after the month of Ramadan was over, but I think I’m going to leave the weekly posts for now. School is about to start in a couple of weeks and I’m also completing my masters this year and with all of that I also want to make time to travel a bit more. So I think I’m going to just blog when I get the chance, kind of like I’ve been doing the past month. Having a weekly commitment of the memes and the Friday Finds is sometimes hard to meet and even though I love doing them, I really want to keep my focus on the real world this year.
I say all this now but I bet I’ll miss doing them too much and then try and make time for it, lol. I can totally see this happening. But I really did prefer the casual blogging this past month instead of trying to meet the deadline every week. It gave me more time to experiment a bit more in Photoshop as well, which I love.
Whatever happens and whatever I decide in the end, I do want to say that it has been a pleasure to get to know some of you through the memes and I really appreciate all the time you guys took to indulge me a little bit and answer all my goofy questions. Thanks for being such awesome blog readers and participants! <3

I know you have a section on WL settings and such but have you changed your settings since posting that? Also, have you ever had a problem with the shadows showing the default avatar hands and feet? When I cam close to my avatar and the hand shadows are visible, it shows both the slink hand AND the default hand in the show. It’s funny, but VERY frustrating. Any fix for that? As always stunning work and I bow to your greatness.

Oh, I was *just* thinking about your memes, Berry, and how much I wanted to get move involved in them…but trust me…and trust your gut instinct…you need to take care of YOU first and all those many important things in your real life. If you find time to do a meme once in awhile for the fun of it, go for it…but it should be fun, not burdensome. Any time an sl “thing” becomes burdensome, get rid of it! It seems I posted about this blog post at your Eid posting! (Mireille gets mixed up easily, sometimes…)…
Whilst I will miss the memes, what you are doing is very important, and focusing on what you need and wish to focus on is good. All we do in SL (and other virtual worlds) and blogging is wonderful, but it is the balance with RL that means the most to me. That is what is so nourishing: the gifts it engenders in my life including creativity, expression for me personally and what I can share to (I hope!) encourage others. Sometimes, I just need to be away from the virtual (even when the RL is calm and not pressing) – and sometimes I just need to login to explore, etc. It varies, and I feel a time of less (or different) involvement ahead. What that means, I don’t know yet, but I do know this: it’s OK.
Best to you as you make your way – always!

Scarlett, that's actually just my headshots windlight that I have available for download here: https://strawberrysingh.com/tutorials/windlight-settings but I edited it a little bit and added some density and distance. Whenever I want to add a bit of softness to an image, increasing those two settings usually helps. Also, I also get the double shadow and if you look closely at my image, both hands are showing in the shadow, but since they are overlapped it’s not as noticeable. I usually just try to do the shadow in a way so it doesn’t look to bad, or I photoshop it out. It’s a pain, I know.
Skye and Mireille, thank you both and you’re both right, I do need to take care of me. So I will definitely just be doing them if and when I feel up to it. I actually really enjoyed blogging this month without the added pressure of deadlines, it was so much more fun.
Much though I’ll miss the Monday Memes, you’re doing the right thing.
The way I look at blogging (jaded old git that I am after just one year of it *g*) is that it should be a fun sideline, not a job. If I were getting paid for it, or my blog was full of ads that I was relying on for supplementary income, then it would be a different matter, but I’m not.
I blog when I please and what I please. That means sometimes I’m garrulous and make three or four posts in a week, and sometimes I’ll go almost a month with nothing to say. That means it’s remained a fun thing for me and I don’t worry or feel stressed about it.
Yours is a very well-known blog (and kind of ‘semi-official’ in that you’ve been part of LL’s visual promotions at times) so I can understand there’s more pressure on you to try and keep up with things, even when you don’t feel like it. But a masters is no small amount of work, and studying can all-but consume your life if you let it, so you need something fun to wind down with. And, if SL and the blog aren’t fun anymore then that’s only going to add to the pressure.
You *need* that wind-down time – we all do – and this decision should help you find it 🙂

The pace of “posting” you choose the comfort level. Your followers will do just that,follow.
Be comfortable and to me it seems the priorities you have chosen are the right ones.

Berry i’m still in awe of you!! You have been one busy blogger, it’s good to rest and slow down, and summers are the perfect time to do just that. I love your Monday Meme’s but felt I was always playing catch up with them as I was only able to contribute to them on Friday’s or Saturday’s. I can take a little breather too.
