Monday Meme: Avatar Corpse!

Last week we considered Love! So in the harmony of life, I suppose this week we should consider death. The good news is that whatever your spiritual beliefs might be IRL, in SL you can always rise again!

Dead Again. (Landscapes with a Corpse)

Back in 2009, Vanessa Blaylock Company used an amazing sim, Leto Zerbino & Steel Howlett’s Petruchio, for a performance work called Landscapes with a Corpse. In this performance the different avatars imagined their own demise and then performed it by situating their avatar corpses in one of the many themed areas of Petruchio, like Ancient Greece or Atlantis.

The Vanessa Blaylock Company performers were themselves inspired by Izima Kaoru’s decades long photographic project of the same name, Landscapes with a Corpse

Avatar Corpse

RL death is often not pretty. Worse, it’s often banal. When Kaoru’s models “die” they get to wear Prada & Versace! And after admiring it all they can get up and go on with their life!

Your challenge this week is to imagine your own avatar demise. Choose a sim, a pose, and wardrobe. Snap a photo of your avatar corpse and blog it! And of course, add your link in the comments below so we can all grieve over the loss of someone so beautiful.

Who’s them? Do I know a them? Is them their display name, or is them.resident? I don’t know them. What the shit are them doing at my wake? Free drinks and food? Stealing my stuff? Someone throw them out, please. Fuckin’ freeloaders.

5. What would you like it to say on your avatar tombstone?
Click Me (which will rez that midkips thing and start the animation)

6. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
When my coffee gets cold.

7. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
The CIA. Because I bet they’d pay a lot of money to someone who can kill just by knowing people.

8. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
Because it’s a lot shorter if we don’t do those things we don’t. Or when we say “That’s a foam-rubber machete, right?” to some machete-wielding lunatic.

9. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
Newborns don’t understand anything but shitting, pissing, sucking, screaming, giggling, staring, and sleeping. How the fuck am I supposed to offer advice to to that?
Plus, I think the whole arrangement’s awkward…

Mother: “AAAAAUUUUUGGGGHHHH!”
Doctor: “Just a little more…”
Father: “Push!”

Me: “HEY, LIL MOTHERFUCKER! LIFE IS HARD!”
Father: “Who the fuck are you?”
Me: “Hey, don’t blame me. Talk to that Edie chick. She wrote the meme.”
Doctor: “Get out!”
Me: “Can I get a copy of that tape? Or are you going to YouTube it?”
And what’s with the phrase “newborn child” … all newborns are children.

Jowls of Dark Demise

The body of an angel, was devoured by vultures in just 15 minutes after she slipped and fell down the stone steps in Deadpool.

When questioned, visitors who witnessed her fall said they believed her to be a zombie and so didnt to go to her aid. No-one noticed her wings!
