Dreams

Dreams(click here for a raw shot)

Do you ever dream about Second Life? I don’t actually mean just Second Life itself, but the people you meet in it. I don’t dream often about it, but once in a while I may have a dream about a friend inworld or people on plurk or twitter.

Recently I dreamt about someone that I don’t talk to anymore and luckily don’t even think about that much, so not sure why I even dreamt about him, but there he was. Strangely the dream was rather pleasant, we were together and happy and everything seemed fine between us in the dream. However, when I woke up, I felt more unnecessary anger towards him. Strange, isn’t it?

Do you believe that dreams have any sort of powers? Or they can have any kind of influence over us? I don’t really dream that often. Usually my dreams consist of me running randomly in a meadow and then falling out of a window whilst being chased by Kirk Cameron…yeah, I dunno. So when I do have clear dreams, they seem to just resonate with me.

Anyhow, I’m rambling again. I did want to tell you guys that Pose Fair is starting soon, so keep an eye out for it. The pose I’m using in this picture is a carefree pose by KeliahAngelis of Picture This Poses. The poses are called submerged and they were actually designed for underwater, but I couldn’t help using one to make it look like I was floating through the sky.

Pose fair starts on Saturday, April 19th and will run till May 3rd. For more information about Pose Fair, check out the following links:

  • I do believe dreams have a message to tell us. I’ve been interpreting dreams for 20 years and every single dream remembered has a message. Nothing of the psychic stuff. Just our own souls (subconscious) trying to communicate with us. As Carl Jung said: “Dreams are postcards from the unconscious.” You wouldn’t receive a postcard and not flip it over to read the message, would you? 🙂 So, pick up a good dream interpretation book and go to town on this dream. It sounds totally significant to me! 🙂

Dream, yes RL and SL sometimes mixed. I don’t really remember the content only I awake feeling good (refreshed) or bad (pissed. I then turn the page and start writing a new day.

I can understand you woke up angry with this person, as described in the dream he was what you wanted to see, in reality he was a dink. Couple of them still floating about 😉

  • The awesome Gestalt psychotherapist Fritz Perls was an advocate of a specific kind of dream work for human growth potential… specifically that you recall the dream (and even if the dream is changed upon remembering it’s okay). As you recall it, be each person and each object in the dream, and give voice to what the people or objects have to say to you-you. You cannot do this wrong. Whatever you come away with is fertile ground for growing ideas, stories, life-enhancement, etc. I kept a dream journal for many years, but have not used the Perls’ way in a long time,, but when I recall a dream I do think about it. We also joke about how Perls would lecture on the subject: “BE the table, BE the apple, BE the window you’re falling out of… BE the jerk! 。◕‿◕。

  • Even though you don’t think of this person anymore, I’m pretty sure this dream means that you have some unresolved emotions about him. This kind of thing tends to affect other relationships as this can be a sign of relationship patterns.

  • Hi, Berry.
Yes, I dream – often – and sometimes, I dream about SL. I dreamed the other night about something that happened in SL ages ago, something silly and fun, and I woke up smiling!
It was great to come into the comments area and see posts noting work by two of my favourites: Jung and Perls. I have a book created by one of my former professors that is filled with quotes from these two – and which addresses the idea of dreamwork and how important it can be. That professor encouraged his students to keep a notepad near the sleeping area so that snippets of dreams could be recorded on waking. Now, I have all the electronic gear to get that done with little effort, but every night beside my bed is a sweet little notepad and pen. Oh, the inspirations that have come from that!
I agree that looking into your recent dream might bear some fruit – perhaps about that relationship, or perhaps about something else altogether. Dreams can be very meaningful – and the dreamer gets to discover what lies therein. I so love that!

  • Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts about all this. I do believe you’re right and there is some unfinished business in that relationship and that’s probably why I dreamt about him, but at this point I think it’s best to leave it.

I did have more dreams about Second Life last night as well, lol, not sure what’s going on with me these days. Maybe I need another vacation!

Thanks again for taking the time to comment. <3
