The Spring Season Challenge
Tomorrow is April 1st and this month always reminds me of spring; probably because of the old saying, “April showers bring May flowers.” I thought this week would be perfect to do a spring challenge.
Meme Instructions: Share a spring-themed picture and/or answer the following questions about the season. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post in the comments and share your picture in the Blog Memes Flickr Group.
- What is the spring season like where you live? – I live in Florida and it’s pretty much the same weather year round. We don’t get leaves falling in autumn or snow in winter. We pretty much stay green throughout the year, but it does warm up a bit from the cooler weather we get in winter. It’s also a great time to go to the beach because it’s not scorching hot like it is in summer. It’s warm and sunny but you are able to stay out for a longer period of time without overheating. Spring time is my favorite time to go to the beach.
- What’s the first thing that pops into your head when you think of spring? – Believe it or not, spring break. People usually come down to Florida for spring break, March/April and it gets really crowded here at times, especially around certain beaches like Daytona. When I was in college, my friends and I used to go to the beach just to meet up with people from different places. Lots of fun spring break memories.
- Which spring-themed sim in Second Life is your favorite at the moment? – There are so many beautiful sims, it’s hard to choose one. I will go with one that I blogged recently, even though the theme isn’t exactly spring but it does have a spring feel to me, Frisland.
Please remember that you can participate in any of the memes/challenges at any time. You’ll find them all under my Blog Challenges category along with other memes and challenges I’ve done over the years.
I wanted to talk a bit about Fitted Mesh as well. I haven’t spoken much about it since my last blog post where I mentioned it. Fitted Mesh hit the official viewer in February and then followed its way to Firestorm shortly after.
More and more designers have been releasing content using this method and I have been demoing and trying it out. One thing I noticed is, it doesn’t seem to fit me properly. It fits very big on me and I am not sure what might be causing this. The lovely top I am wearing in this post is fitted mesh and I’m not sure if you can tell from my pictures, but I felt it was a bit too roomy. Unfortunately it only came in one size so I was kind of stuck with it and was not able to try a different size to see if it would fit better.
I would love it if designers still provided standard sizing for their fitted mesh items so we can see which size fits the best. I’m not sure if this is something that is possible, but if it is, it may help with sizing a bit. I love the top, I felt it was very spring, but I do wish it was a bit more snug.
Have you had a chance to try fitted mesh as of yet? What are your thoughts on it? Can you share some stores that have started releasing fitted mesh content? Thank you. <3

Lovely shots!
I do have the same problem with fitted mesh – it always seems much too big for me. I prefer wearing the standard sized things! Funny enough I don’t have that problem with “liquid” mesh!

I tried Cracked Mirror’s fitted mesh for April’s FaMeshed and it’s not larger. If anything it’s a sleeker fit than the standard size. Here’s my meme post! http://aylaanddolly.blogspot.com/2014/04/spring-season-challenge-and-fitted-mesh.html
All about getting me ready for spring! <3 Ya Berry!

Not sure if I will do the Spring challenge. Kind of dialing it back for a week or so on all levels and in all worlds :D.
BUT I did want to say I agree with you on the fitted mesh comments. I wrote a LONG article (Op Ed Sunday) a week ago. Don’t suspect you read my blog daily so here are my views.

I have the fitted mesh Parachute Sarouel Pants from *chronokit* (although they call it Liquid Mesh) and I’m finding the sizing a bit on the large size.
I also have a fat pack of their jackets and they seem to fit fine. I have another pant and it too is a good fit. So I’m bewildered as to why the new pants are “roomy” and the other fitted mesh is fine.

I missed this challenge but this is photo I did for another about spring (not the one I ended up sending). I got the Easter Wreath especially for the occasion but love it so much as it is all about Spring/rebirth etc.
Thanks so much for participating everyone. All your pictures got me in such a spring mood. This week I’m asking you guys to share some advice for newcomers to second life.

I just tripped over this one Berry, the fitted mesh part I mean. I have recently been moving some of my mesh to fitted mesh and so far I have found this out.
Fitted mesh will provide a tight fit at the bust line and the hem for the legs peeking through which prevents the horrible alphas from showing in lets say a pic above and downward over your av’s shoulder so to speak.
It is at a cost.
One size does not all fit. When making the mesh garment it must be weighted to prevent break though of the under lying Av. Weighting is done in relation to bones in the av skeleton. Weight in one area can cause breaks in other places. As an example weighing the bust to shape from 40 to 90 on sliders will cause break through on the “saddlebags”. So it’s a balancing act.
Alphas are still needed to cover areas where break through of the under lying av is taking place, but they need not be visible to the eye if camming around (except for upskirt shots).
Mesh, even fitted mesh needs to be sold in different sizes to cover all standard possibilities. If you can’t demo don’t buy. As in RL I do see the need for a sizing system in SL and how it is determined and what it is based on remains to be seen.
Bottom line is I love mesh as do many but even with fitted mesh we have a long way to go as far as I can see. Isn’t that part of the challenge though.
I have a market place store but do not actively sell and currently no mesh, fitted or otherwise, is there. It is mostly old system style clothes but I keep it anyway. The mesh I do is for friends and myself
Not sure if this helps toward highlighting what I found as problems with fitted mesh but it sure made me feel better typing it out ♥
