Several months ago, Trixie Bumbo contacted me with a suggestion for a meme. She said, “I was wondering if a possible challenge idea would be to get bloggers to go out and find new shops or creators? So many seem to blog the same skin, the same hair, the same creation from the same fashion event…..well, there’s a LOT of undiscovered talent out on the grid and it would point a lot of people in some new directions.”

I did agree with her, and at times I do try and do that on my own. I look for new skin designers and mesh creators, however I realized that even after I purchased the item and blogged it, I ended up wearing the one that I usually wore afterwards. I guess it’s that we get into our comfort zones and just stick with the styles that suit us, which makes sense in a way. It is also very hard to keep up with all of the new designers and releases on a regular basis. However, I do believe it is a great idea so I thought I’d put a little twist to it.

Meme instructions: Blog something you’ve never blogged before and/or something you normally wouldn’t blog. This is more of a photography themed meme, with a focus on visuals of the item(s) you’ve never blogged before, however, if you prefer to make it a written meme and just write about something you normally wouldn’t write about, that’ll work as well. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post in the comments and share your images in the blog memes flickr group.

So this is my contribution, I’m blogging a mesh head. I’ve never blogged a mesh head before and I never thought I would as I am very attached to my avatar’s face. I still couldn’t get myself to put a mesh head on Berry, so I actually put one on Manberry. This mesh head I picked up for Manberry in last month’s Mens Dept, but because I went away on vacation, I didn’t get a chance to blog it. I also wasn’t sure how Manberry looked with it on. What do you guys think of the mesh head on him?

I liked how easy it was to process the image in photoshop and get it to look pretty realistic. I’m not sure how comfortable I feel in it though and if I’ll be keeping it on, but it’s definitely fun to play around with.

The Mens Dept is closed now for February, but opens up for March in a few days. If you are interested in trying this mesh head, or other mesh heads from this designer, you can probably find it at the LABYRINTH mainstore now. The designer’s name is LabyrinthStarchild and he can be found on flickr, as well as the marketplace. I have never blogged his work before, in fact I just discovered him last month at the event. That’s one thing I love about events like Mens Dept and FaMESHed, they introduce me to many new quality content creators on a monthly basis.

Please remember that you can participate in any of the memes/challenges at any time. You’ll find them all under my Blog Challenges category along with other memes and challenges I’ve done over the years.
