Friday Find: Chinese New Year Festival

I didn’t plan on covering events for Friday Finds, but I figured if I can get into the event and it is a pretty place, I might as well.

Chinese New Year is a traditional Chinese holiday, also known as the Spring Festival. It is connected with the Chinese Zodiac so every year there is a different animal. I am not really familiar with this so excuse me if I explain things wrong, but I believe this year it is the year of the Horse. I was apparently born in the year of the monkey. :-/ Not sure what all this means but it’s very intriguing for sure, as astrology usually is for me. I find it fun to read up and explore.

This year Chinese New Year was on January 31st and the CNY Festival in SL opened its doors then as well. The festival runs from January 31st till February 21st. There are 35 designers participating. When I went there yesterday to take a pic, I saw such beautiful items up for sale. The lag wasn’t too bad either so definitely drop by for a visit when you get the chance, it’s all so festive!

Weekly Roundup

  1. InWorldz 5th Birthday – InWorldz will be celebrating its 5th birthday from 16th March through to 2nd April 2014. There are a lot of festivities planned. You can click over to Daniel Voyager’s blog for all the details. At the same time, RavenmanSkwer requested that I share this with my readers: The NewYork Modeling Agency in InWorldz is looking for InWorldz Content Creators that are interested in taking part and helping out with the plans they have for the birthday celebrations. If you are an InWorldz Content Creator and are interested in participating, please contact either Martin Glom or Martina Seetan.
  2. The Drax Files Radio Hour – show #5 the sky is falling – Lots of interesting discussions with a lot of guests this week regarding Rod Humble’s resignation from Linden Lab. This is a very informative episode, so make sure to click over and listen!
  3. The Drax Files: World Makers [ Episode 16: Feed A Smile] – I am so happy that Draxtor has not stopped doing the video series now that he has the weekly radio podcast. This is one of my favorite series and I have even started to share some of these videos with non-SLers so they can see what it’s really like. This week’s episode is especially inspiration and for a great cause!
  4. Humanitarian – So I did one of those fun buzzfeed tests again and this one was asking: What Career Should You Actually Have? and not that I really believe those things are so incredibly accurate but the result I got was interesting indeed. You guys should try it too!

Have a great week! <3
