Falling in Love
Have you ever seen those lovey dovey couples that dress the same? I always kind of giggled at them until recently it happened to me and my boyfriend. It was completely accidental but we ended up wearing similar colors and were basically walking around all day like that, it was kind of hilarious. I thought it would be cute to dress up ManBerry and Berry in similar colors.
Manberry is wearing FATEwear’s recent mega-release. When I say mega, I mean seriously mega. I don’t know how Damien Fate does it but he releases a whole bunch of things that go so well together all at once. That man is a machine!
Berry is wearing mostly clothing items from Mutresse. Can I just say how much I love this store? I’m obsessed with the quality of clothing and all of the options that they offer. It’s mind-blowing. The cardigan I’m wearing is available at this month’s FaMESHed which is open now. The pants and shoes are also from Mutresse. If you haven’t been to Mutresse yet, I suggest you guys definitely check it out. This cardigan is phenomenal and comes with so many options. Speaking of my boyfriend, last night we went to an early screening of the movie Gravity. We saw it in 3D for free because I received a perk from Klout.com. Are you guys on Klout? I never really paid attention to it. It was just another social media thing that I signed up with and it’s been sitting there and once in a while I login and give “+K’s” to people that give me “+K’s” and I think that built up and they have started offering me amazing Klout Perks. This was the first time I took advantage of one of them because I really wanted to see Gravity and I’m so happy I did.
We both had fun, and I really enjoyed the movie. I tweeted about it last night on the drive home from the theatre. (I wasn’t the one driving. Don’t tweet/text and drive)! I thought it was visually stunning and I was on the edge of my seat in suspense the whole time. My boyfriend on the other hand, said it definitely was visually beautiful but he found it to be boring and predictable. Typical since we rarely agree or have the same opinions on shows and movies, lol. He’s usually a lot pickier than I am but what I love is when we do have differing opinions, we’ll sit and have these long intellectual discussions about them for hours and it’s so refreshing. Our long talks actually make me feel pretty smart, which doesn’t happen very often. 😛
Anyhow, the funniest part of the night though was going there and telling them that the free passes were under the name “Strawberry Singh” lol that was definitely interesting and I finally had to sit down and tell my boyfriend about Second Life and how I got us into a movie, days before it was released to the public and for free! LOL twas an interesting night for sure. If you’re on Klout, I’d love it if you gave me a +K in Second Life, I always try and return the favor when I can. I definitely think you guys should sign up, I think I’ll be claiming more of the Perks they offer me!

LOL I knew someone would ask for details. 😛
Well, I really wanted to prolong telling him about SL for as long as I could, cuz as you can tell, I’m not very proud of the reputation that SL seems to have amongst non-slers. I’m also a very private person about a lot of things and try to keep my SL & RL somewhat separate.
Him and I were kind of setup on valentine’s day this year so it was rather awkward but we started casually dating in March and were taking it slow. But then about two months ago we got pretty close and serious so I knew it was getting close to the time that I should be sharing my dirty little secret, sl. I kept it pretty casual though because I wasn’t sure what he already thought or knew about SL. Luckily, he didn’t know much about it.
So I just said something like, “Second Life is a virtual world, kind of like a video game and I login and dress up my doll/avatar. So once I started doing that regularly, I created a fashion blog where I show all the different ways I dress her up.”
I don’t think he fully grasped the idea of what SL is, and I wasn’t overly detailed in the description either so he just kind of laughed it off and said he’s not surprised that I have some sort of fashion blog, lol. He’s kind of discovered my shopping addiction.
Anyhow, it went pretty well. He’s pretty mature and grounded, and I definitely needed that in my life right now. He’s really patient with me and understands all of my social anxieties, awkwardness, weird quirkiness and insecurities (which I have a lot of). So he doesn’t push me to do things or share more of myself unless I’m absolutely ready to.
I’m pretty happy and thankful with the way things are going and as more time goes by and I feel more comfy, I’ll definitely share more about my SL with him. Who knows though, he may be sitting there googling “Strawberry Singh Second Life” right now, lol.

And of course, I had to laugh. I recently was given reason to google myself, both me and my firsty, and I found out I have a much bigger digital footprint than he does… I challenge anyone who does Second Life under a different name from their First Life avatar to google both selves just as an experiment. I don’t know, there may be Meme in that idea somewhere…

I’m more of a lurker than a poster, but I was completely charmed by your post. My boyfriend and I had been friends before we started dating, so he has seen me at my worst (and trust me…it can be scary), so I sheepishly told him about my SL on our first date. It turned out that he had his own virtual secret too. He’s a PS3 junkie and has his own avatar in Playstation’s version of SL called Home. We joked around that we were so eHarmony, but truth be told, I loved that he understood it. Now, he has an avatar in SL that he never uses, and I have one in Home, which I never use lol…so who knows! Maybe your boyfriend will have his own in SL one day.One tip…at least have him make an avi so you can fill in the partner box. It definitely cuts down on the random pick-ups 😉
