Surrealism Challenge

This week’s Monday Meme was inspired by the Designers United Event.

Meme instructions: Create an image in Second Life that has a surreal feel to you. Don’t forget to share your link in the comments and add your picture to the Blog Memes flickr group.

Surrealism Challenge

Surrealism is a literary and cultural movement that originated in the 1920s. When I think of surrealism, the first thing that pops into my head is the work of Salvador Dali. Surrealism to me is a hyper realistic blending of dream and reality. Second Life is the perfect playground to push that balance from dream to virtual reality. For a detailed explanation of Surrealism, you can check out the wikipedia page.

I had fun letting my mind wander and the first image in this post is what came out of it. The majority of the items I’ve used are from the Designers United event, but that’s not a must for this meme. You can use anything within Second Life to create your surreal image. I’m looking forward to seeing your creativity!

Please remember that you can participate in any of the memes/challenges at any time. You’ll find them all under my Blog Challenges category along with other memes and challenges I’ve done over the years.

I also quickly wanted to talk about the second image in this post. The skin and accessories I’m wearing in this post are from Glam Affair. Glam Affair has recently renovated their whole sim and now it is all mesh! It’s definitely a sim to visit. I have plans to take some awesome pictures of it very soon. Along with the sim renovation they have a plethora of new releases including multiple new skins, hairs and accessories. Check out their latest blog post for all the details and then take the SLurl and head on over.

  2. […] I took this set about two weeks ago, and by happy accident, Berry’s meme this week is about Surrealism. The instruction said to create ‘an’ image, but I’m a rebel and just had to go one step too far…or 9 steps too far, even. Sorry, Berry! Join in the meme here! […]

  4. I’m a HUGE fan of surrealism since my teen years so this shopping event was especially thrilling for me. I decided to do a homage to my favorite painter, Rene Magritte. And although I’m not technically a blogger, I thought you’d like seeing the result.
