Exploring Second Life Meme

Before I begin today’s Monday Meme, I just want to state that all of the images in this post are pure raw shots, straight from SL. I didn’t even crop them. If you click on them and head on over to my flickr, you’ll see that they are 6016×3221 which is the highest possible ratio I’ve been able to shoot recently using the latest official SL viewer. As you can see, I don’t have any gridlines or glitches like I used to have, so I’m really happy about that!

Meme Instructions: Share 1 to 5 of your favorite places on the grid. I feel like exploring and discovering new places. Share places you think everyone should visit and also tell us why they are your favorites. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post in the comments!

Exploring Second Life Meme - Tempura Island
Tempura Island – SLurlBlogFlickr Group

Over the years I have taken many pictures at Tempura Island. It’s one of my most favorite sims. I discovered it back in 2008. My boyfriend at the time used to take me there on dates all the time. It’s actually great for dates because they have a gorgeous ballroom for dancing and lots of little secluded areas for couples. It is owned and created by the designer of Mandala, Kikunosuke Eel, who we all know is incredibly talented!

I think my most favorite part of Tempura Island is their blog. If you visit their blog, you’ll notice that once in a while they will do a post called “Avatars that visit tempura” and in those posts are pictures of people that visit the sim. The pictures are taken by the Tempura Photographers and security. The people they take photos of usually don’t even know that their pictures are taken. I know this because I discovered that they had actually caught me once, I had no idea! LOL If you click over to the post from this past February, you’ll see me second from the bottom. They don’t put the people’s names with the pictures, but they write a cute little caption along with the image. This is what they wrote under my picture, “An experienced adult lady would know how to read men’s mind correctly.” LOL love it!

Exploring Second Life Meme - The Far Away
The Far Away – SLurlFlickr Group

I have blogged about AM Radio and my love for his sims back in 2011 when he had decided to shut them all down. I am not sure what saved “The Far Away” and if the others are also saved somewhere on the grid, but I am so happy it was saved! It’s one of the first places that inspired me and got me into SL Photography. I was a daily visitor back in 2008, bringing many of my friends over and taking pics there (my flickr set). I miss the rest of his sims dearly and not sure if they are still around. If you have any info on them, please let me know!

Exploring Second Life Meme - Kingdom of Sand
Kingdom of Sand – SLurlFlickr GroupBlog

Words cannot express how I feel about Kingdom of Sand. It’s been my ultimate most favorite sim since it first landed on the grid. I remember hearing from close friends back in 2007  telling me how they are creating an incredible roleplay sim that I am going to love, and they were right! It was love at first sight, as soon as I landed. Of course I had a really crappy computer back then so it was incredibly laggy for me and took me forever to walk around and see it all. In early 2008 when I finally got a new computer, it was the first place I headed to and took pictures of. I have a lot of fond memories of this place and I still visit it several times a year.

Exploring Second Life Meme - New York City
New York City – SLurlBlogFlickr Group

This is a relatively newer sim (compared to the rest of the ones on my favorites list). The majority of the sims on my list, I chose for nostalgic reasons. They brought back great memories. They are beautifully done and just so majestic and incredible. However, the New York City is one of my most favorite urban sims to visit. I have actually lost count the amount of times I have taken clients there for photoshoots. Most of my clients like to have an urban background in their pictures the sim works perfectly because they actually allow you to rez there for 5 to 10 minutes, which is just perfect timing for rezzing a pose stand and hopping on top of it. However, I did notice today when I went to take this image, that the option to rez was disabled for some reason. I am hoping this is temporary as I loved being able to do that. I just went there a few weeks ago and it was enabled so perhaps it is just temporary right now. In any case, it’s a wonderful city sim with gorgeous textures and actually lots of shops so you can go shopping! I believe they also rent apartments and such, you can check out their blog for all the details if you are interested in real city living!

Exploring Second Life Meme - Zaara
Zaara – SLurlBlogFlickr Group

Finally, and I admit I am a bit biased in this one, but of course I have to pick the Zaara sim. Zaara is my home, I live in the sky, but the ground level is my favorite part. From the little indian alley, the temple, the dupatta tree, the Nasha Lounge, I love every bit of it! We’ve had many crazy parties at the Nasha Lounge over the years, the Zaara sim party, Gypsy Nights, Celebrating Slumdog Millionaire! Lots of great times and wonderful memories that I will cherish forever. <3 Currently Zaara is also having a 50% off sale. Everything is half off until September 3rd!

So these are my favorite places. I hope you visit and enjoy and make some memories of your own. There are many more places that I also absolutely love such as Magic of Oz, Mischief Managed, Mayfair, LE.LOOK! and many, many more but I’m already pretty late with today’s meme so stopping at five!

I hope you guys share some of your favorites. I’ll be saving SLurls and visiting when I get the chance. Please remember that you can participate in any of the memes/challenges at any time. You’ll find them all under my Blog Challenges category along with other memes and challenges I’ve done over the years. If you end up sharing pictures of your favorite places, feel free to share them in the Blog Memes Flickr Group.

UPDATE: I was requested to create a flickr group just for this meme specifically, so here it is:
Explore Second Life – http://www.flickr.com/groups/exploresecondlife
You don’t have to do the meme to add your images to that group.
There are just a couple rules to the group:
1. SLurl (or link to blog post with the slurl) must be in the description of the image.
2. Avatars are allowed, however the image must show a lot of the sim and not only focus on the avatars.

Thanks and hope you guys join and share your pics! <3 Happy Exploring!
