• I mean.. 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything.

• 1) Have you reached the 42 group limit?

  Hah – within moments of being able to join more than 25 groups. I actually recall how excited everyone was when the old Emerald viewer suddenly started reporting “You belong to 25 out of 42 groups”. We couldn’t join the other 17 groups yet, but dammit we were excited that at least on paper we weren’t maxxed out any more.

  2) Do you do a lot of group hopping to keep up with all the groups you want to stay a part of?

  Yep usually a couple of times a week. Land groups that I belong to for my land, my friend’s land, and the handful of places where I have vendors eat up nine groups.

  Store groups are another 16, building and related groups are seven and the rest are…. Unwholesome 🙂

  3) What makes you want to join a group?

  Assuming it’s not a necessity for things like land access it’s one of three things:

  Do I get goodies – Yep, I’m a materialistic sort, what can I say. The quality of some of the free things I’ve received is amazing.

  Does it help me out either with my swarm of partially finished projects, or by providing support for things like the Firestorm Viewer groups.

  Does it further some of my aforementioned unwholesome past times.

  Though if it has a particularly entertaining group tag that might do it. I was in “F**k Your TOS Pick” for a while 🙂

  4) A lot of store VIP groups have a group fee which you have to pay to join. How do you feel about paying group fees?

  Mixed. Belleza is the most expensive one I’m in and given that I wore one of their group gift skins for two years the L$250 was well worth it even though there haven’t been many group gift updates recently.

  On the other hand there’s at least one group I joined – I’ll avoid naming names – which implied that I’d be awash in regular shipments of goodies once I plunked down my L$ and I’ve seen nothing. Worst of all is the fact that since I paid to join I’m sort of loathe to quit so I’m stuck with that group taking up a precious, precious slot.

  It would be swell if there were a mechanism whereby you could rejoin without paying the fee again, though I suspect that wouldn’t go over well with the group owners since I’m sure people like me who are reluctant to leave the group because of the join fee are keeping the membership numbers up.

  5) Name a few groups that you are a part of that you feel everyone should look into joining and share your reasons behind that.

  If you make things or want to make things or just like chatting with people who make things the Builder’s Brewery and Builder’s Brewery Speakeasy groups are awesome.

  Womenstuff is more or less an announcement group that lets shop owners send out announcements of new products, sales, hunts, the whole magilla. I’m probably preaching to the choir on this one though 🙂

  Fifty Linden Fridays does double duty of reminding me that it’s Friday, and also including the list of items so I can decide what shops I want to visit in advance… And now that I say that I wonder if I should have kept quiet so they don’t stop doing it 🙂

  One of my unwholesome groups – the name rhymes with RLB Bommunities – which is also semi-technical in nature for those times the answer to my question can’t be found in an upstanding group like Builder’s Brewery 🙂

• I find it great news that SLink are about to release male feet / hands with the whole appliers thing; I’m not sure I’ll jump, because I’ve been a happy Vika Store customer for those, I think hers are still the best male feet / hand available, both in mesh sculpting and in texturing… but their blending to the skin (Birth’s “Thor” in my case) has always been a bit of a minor pain for me… not that bad, but could be better, and my, SLink does know how to make optimal blendings! Definitely worth trying when they come out. Thanks, Berry 😉

• I LOVE reading your posts, and I think this is the first time I have actually participated in one of your site challenges. I enjoyed it alot! It’s great seeing what groups I am already in – being promoted, and its also nice to see groups that I should be in.
