Words cannot express how strongly I feel about my new leather jacket. I absolutely need this in real life as well. This is the latest release from Erratic and the best part about it is the option to wear it two different ways. I’m wearing the closed version. You can see the open version on the Erratic blog at this link. The leather textures are top-notch, it comes in 17 amazing colors and it’s so stylish! This is by far my most favorite jacket of the season.

Exile released a bunch of gorgeous styles today with hats! That is a definite plus for me. I would love to wear hats more often but I always feel discouraged because it is so difficult to fit them, especially now with mesh hair. Check out the Exile blog for a look at all three styles.

Also, I just wanted to make a note of something. I’m not a smoker in real life and even dislike the smell of smoke a lot. However, I do like to pretend to smoke in SL from time to time. I feel like it can add a lot to a look. In the past I’ve had a few people tell me that I shouldn’t promote smoking in my images, so I just wanted to say that I don’t mean to be promoting it, it’s just for the look. Like I wouldn’t really wear a dead fox around my shoulders in RL, but I may in SL just for fun. Anyhow, I apologize if it offends you.

Oooh no! I love what you do Berry, but I wish you hadn’t said that about a cigarette adding to a look. Is it edgy? cool? What does it add? I’ve seen people in RL go for a fake fur to create a look of luxuriousness, but never seen anyone sporting a fake cigarette, and I do worry that this concept of a cigarette “adding” something image-wise is one of the factors that gets so many girls and young women interested. After all fur could only be addictive in your mind – not physiologically. A lot easier to give up on fur after a few tries. Less so nicotine I fear.
I still love what you do! Just not this rationalisation, sorry.

    Oh I love this look!
I don’t like cigarettes or smoking in RL either, but I like to smoke in SL. We know it’s an avatar, not a real person. And with regards to the comment above, I believe SL is an adult world, and hopefully as adults we can distinguish between reality and fantasy. Why should Strawberry apologize? It’s her SL. The virtual cigarette is not going to hurt anyone, and no animal had to die for the virtual fox fur.

  • Hi chamomile, I can understand where you are coming from on this. I guess I do think that having a cigarette in your mouth makes you look edgy or whatever, that’s why I used it. I can understand your viewpoint but since I never really fell for smoking myself after growing up looking at numerous magazine ads that also depicted smoking as something stylish, I guess it never really occurred to me that it may be irresponsible of me to do that since it can influence others. You’ve definitely given me more to think about and I appreciate your input.

  • I smoke and wear fur RL, and don’t care its not PC. Art is Art and should not be bound by most moral or political rules. If Berry wants to do a pic naked, in a fur, with a ciggie, holding a gun with Bambie as her shoulder bag its her choice, her art. You don’t have to like the underlying message that may or may not be there. She also should be free to express herself w/o having to worry about it.

  • Love it. Berry, you are a rockstar. I just grabbed the demos of the hair and the jacket. Also, I think your disclaimer about the smoking in the post was very thoughtful. This is your art however, and you *are* entitled to do what you wish. 🙂

“If Berry wants to do a pic naked, in a fur, with a ciggie, holding a gun with Bambie as her shoulder bag its her choice, her art”

That would be kinda hot! lol

Thanks for the acknowledgement Berry. And to Lourdes I would say I don’t have any issue with art and its right to be confronting – and I’m certainly no prude!

My point was purely about the rationale for the cigarette as “adding something to a look”. I believe that is much more an assertion about fashion and self-image than it is about art. And I’m not asking Berry to apologize, just to maybe consider her rationale a little more closely – which she graciously says she may do.
