Banjaran is the hindi word for gypsy. Gypsy’s are known to travel in tribes all over South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Russia and Northern Africa. When Mr. Don Hosho shared the slurl to this gorgeous Egyptian Temple, I knew I wanted to blog it.

Then last night Leah McCullough of Naive released this exotic top and skirt that had a gypsy feel to it. I thought what a perfect way to shoot the temple, I could be a banjaran traveling through Egypt. (Can you tell I like roleplaying? :P)

When I went to accessorize, I realized that the red gypsy set by Hibiscus Flossberg of Puarangi Designs and the top and skirt from Leah were a match made in heaven. Hibi also makes adorable little tamborines that I love and of course forgot to take a pic of. :P Leah and Hibi are some of my favorite content creators because they are both so kind and caring. Recently Hibi made a special Hello Kitty ring on my request that has been getting rave reviews so she made a whole set now to accompany it. :D And Leah just released the cutest tees last night which she named after me! Thank you Leah and Hibi! <3

Huz Tats has a few new releases in store tonight which I have fallen in love with. A new addition to the henna series is always a warm welcome. Hunain Bellic’s henna tattoos are amongst my favorites on the grid.

I was also wearing the India silk from one of my favorite silk stores, Solange, while I was taking a lovely little nap on the shabby chic daybed which is from the m.fox collection at The Loft. The pose is from the new release from Diesel Works called Momo.

Modern Kanji

Out of Hunain’s whole Kanji series, this one appeals to me most cuz of it’s simplicity. It’s very feminine, I adore it. Unfortunately he hasn’t released it yet, but it will be out very very soon, I promise. :) The cute and inexpensive bikini is by the sophisticated and sexy Sysy Chapman of Sysy’s. The pose is from my one of my favorite pose sets at Long Awkward Pose, called Dog Eat Dog World (doncha just love Dove’s quirky names for her poses? :P) And finally, just LOOK at my nails in that pic. Dutch Touch skins have the best hands on the grid, hands down! And that of course is my fav Forest skin by Iki Ikarus. <3

Hazard

I know the old ball and chain is prolly gonna divorce me after this pic but here it is anyways! :P This is the new tribal tattoo called Hazard, which is definitely fun to wear; I paired it up with the sexy new honk shirt from BOOM. Although I must admit, Rylan’s boobs look much better in that shirt than mine do. The shorts are from Naive and the pose is another one from the momo set at Diesel Works.

After a long and anticipated wait, Whippet & Buck opened their mainstore on May 5, 2009. Dakota Buck is the creative director and Twiggy Whippet is the designer of this stylish new store.

I recently had an opportunity to throw some questions at designer Twiggy Whippet.

Strawberry: Where does your inspiration come from?
Twiggy: It’s hard to pin-point any specific source of inspiration. We both devour as much vaguely fashion related content as possible. ‘Kota has an impressive collection of fashion magazines and I am an avid people watcher. A lot of inspiration comes from our city, Brisbane, as well and I hope that will come across in future pieces. The store itself was inspired by the classic “Queenslander” style houses in the area and I like to think that the conservative yet casual and artistic feel that I get from those houses translates into the clothing.

Strawberry: Are your products all hand drawn?
Twiggy: Each fabric textures is hand-created with a combination of stock photos, brushes and photoshop treatments and the rest is hand-drawn with mouse and tablet. The tartan pattern was hand-drawn as well because we wanted to have our own signature (and infinitely customisable) base. Some more signature patterns are in the works as well. The jewelry textures are also hand-drawn – it’s just easier to have exactly what you want if you create it yourself.

Strawberry: Do you have a creative professional background?
Twiggy: I’ve bounced around a bit in different creative and design-based jobs, mostly freelance. When ‘Kota and I first started working on W&B in 2007 it was just going to be jewelry and accessories sub-brand to Savvy? because I was fairly burnt out on photoshop at the time. After the project was shelved for a year and I’d switched jobs I decided that I wanted the design outlet again and here it is.

Whippet and Buck clothing has clean, crisp lines. These casual basics can easily be mixed and matched to fit a variety of looks and come in colors that are sure to suit everyone’s tastes.
