The Sandbox is the official Second Life® newsletter, which is sent monthly to all residents of SL™ via email. For the month of June there is a “Second Life 8th Birthday Party” theme.

Last month, I was contacted by the very sweet Gabrielle Linden to do the “Look of the Month” for this special birthday issue. I was requested to style a party look using balloons and hats and all. I was totally excited to be asked to do this!

Well I had done my look and then kind of forgot about it until just a bit ago when a friend messaged me and said “congrats I just saw you on Look of the Month!”

For some reason I haven’t received the email yet myself but luckily it is available to view on the web so I got to see it! The pictures you see here are just screenshots of the newsletter because I wanted to keep a copy of it for myself. On June 23rd Second Life turns 8 years old and although I only discovered SL about 4 years ago, it has enriched my life so much. I feel very fortunate and thankful for everything that has happened in my SL and all the wonderful people that I have met and learned from. SL has done so much for me and I’m very happy to be a part of this wonderful community.

Moxie means the ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage and what better way to do that while wearing shoes that will leave an incredible impact. These new maitreya shoes have left me speechless. I love all of the colors and patterns they come in. Check out my favorite blogger Sasy Scarborough stylin them in more colors.

The gorgeous sweater and hat are from the one eleven event, created by the talented Anya Ohmai and Azure Electricteeth.

The skin I’m wearing is Natasha, the newest release from LeLutka. I find the skin to be very soft and pretty. Even though it’s not available in the normal darker tones I am accustomed to, I love how it fits my shape perfectly and will probably be going light brown/blond for a while because of it. Holiday greetings! Yes, it’s the time of year where we add some weight to our stomachs and lose some in our wallets. I’ve been feeling unusually festive this year, and decided to theme out my SL© home for the holidays. While taking breaks, I did a bit of clothes shopping and picked up some seasonally appropriate items. Just a very simple, casual look that may give you more of that “winter” feel. Enjoy

By the way, that snowman was a total ham. Seemed like no matter where I tried to set up a shot, he would nudge his way into the frame. Now I’m no bigot, many of my closest friends are snow-people, but this guy was a lazy, good for nothing, attention whore.

It’s rare that you find a person who’s so kind, considerate and giving that they completely offset the bad you’ve seen in humanity. I’ve known Berry for nearly two years, and every day I am still in awe of what a wonderful person she is. Through good times and bad, she’s always been there for me. Hello all! I’m Sean Black, and I’ve been a resident of Second Life© for nearly six years. After enduring physical and verbal abuse from Strawberry Singh for the past several months, I’ve decided to give in to her demands that I share with you my rather quirky perspective on SL©. My interests vary greatly, and my posts will definitely reflect this. Hopefully, some of you out there will get some use out of them.

Now, I know the items that I’m covering in this post aren’t new. I wasn’t shooting for bleeding edge fashion, just a look I put together while out shopping one night that I enjoyed. I’d been puttering around the grid visiting some of my favorite shops when I ended up at Aoharu. I hadn’t visited in some time and I was surprised at all the new items I found. These were just a couple of the ones I picked up.

I was trying to find just the right place to snap the photographs for this post, and really couldn’t think of one off the top of my head. I contacted Makenzie Irling for a suggestion and she chose the perfect place. She suggested Nordari, and it was exactly what I was looking for.
