Happy 2017 Second Life Residents!

Happy New Year!

2016 has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride for most of the world. We have seen a lot of loss this year as well as turmoil and terror as a community worldwide. Hopefully 2017 will bring the much needed peace, compassion and love this planet is so in need of right now.

On a personal level, 2016 has been pretty good to me. My career has taken off in the real world as well as my personal life. I’m pretty happy and thankful for everything I have been blessed with and I hope 2017 keeps me as motivated and optimistic as I feel and have felt this past year.

For Second Life it has been a year of a lot of creative and innovative updates. We’ve seen some amazing changes to the grid from the rise of prim limits, Bento, 360 snapshots in the viewer (which I haven’t blogged about yet but I hope to do a detailed tutorial on in 2017) and so much more. Check out Linden Lab’s blog post where they go over all of the updates and changes they have worked hard to bring us this past year.

This coming year in May will mark 10 years of Second Life for me and after a decade of being here I am amazed that I still find a way to be seduced by this platform in such a way that I keep logging in whenever I can make time for it. My love for blogging about it seems to grow even more on a daily basis. I can say I have never been bored, even after 10 years. I always seem to find a way to keep going either with Fashion or Blog Memes and now with vlogging, it always manages to keep me entertained and has enhanced my life in so many ways.

Thank you Linden lab, for all that you do for us and I hope in 2017 we see even more changes and updates to keep us logging in!

Another big addition to Second Life this year is the introduction of Subscription Boxes. For the fashion crazed shopaholics like me, this addition to the Second Life market was one of my favorites to hit the grid. I am a subscription box addict! I just love the element of surprise they bring. The first one to introduce this to us was of course the Luxe Box team. Luxe Box first came out back in May 2016 and that’s when I started doing my unboxing videos. Because of the popularity of them we started seeing more and more subscription boxes popping up with different themes and ideas. It’s become one of my most favorite things on the grid! Here is a list of Second Life subscriptions boxes that I know of so far if you are interested in trying them out:

  1. LuxeBox – For female avatars, it is released on the 15th of each month. Click over to my LuxeBox tag on my blog to see all of my LuxeBox blog posts so far.
  2. SwagBag – For male avatars, it is released on the 1st of each month. Click over to my SwagBag tag on my blog to see all of my SwagBag blog posts so far.
  3. BishBox – For female avatars, it is released on the 20th of each month. Click over to my BishBox tag on my blog to see all of my BishBox blog posts so far.
  4. Deco(c)rate – For home and decor addicts, it is released on the 8th of each month. Click over to my Deco(c)rate tag on my blog to see all of my Deco(c)rate blog posts so far.
  5. Treasure Chest – For roleplayers, it is released on the 15th of each month. Click over to my Treasure Chest tag on my blog to see all of my Treasure Chest blog posts so far.
  6. Powder Pack – For makeup addicts this new box will contain 12 Catwa head makeup appliers. It will be released on the 17th of each month so the first release is on January 17th. I will be doing a giveaway for this, which I will announce next week, so stay tuned!

Those are all of the Second Life subscription boxes that I know of so far and I’m hoping to see many more pop up in the new year. If you haven’t tried a subscription box as of yet, the price for all of them is L$1500 each so in the coming year, treat yourself!

I’ve done a little video going over some of these things, you can watch it on youtube: https://youtu.be/nDN8ipaH7bA

At the start of every year we usually make little resolutions or promises that we make to ourselves but they only last a couple of months and then we seem to forget about them. Well, at the starting of 2016, I did a resolutions post where I made a list of 10 resolutions and asked you guys to join me in trying to do at least a few of them throughout the year. I have managed to complete all 10 this year and I’m feeling very proud of myself. I was happy to see some of you guys were actively blogging about completing these resolutions as well, like Dreamer. Thank you Dreamer for keeping up with them, it was great to see how many you accomplished.

My plan for 2017 is to continue with the list and keep doing it, I might update it a bit for 2017 but for the most part I will always continue to donate, volunteer and do my daily mantra. Those three things alone do so much for me on a personal and spiritual level.

My wish for you in this coming year is much happiness. I hope this year brings much love and compassion to this world and whatever your resolutions are for 2017, make sure to take some time for yourself and do something that makes you happy. Happy 2017! <3

  • Happy New Year, Miss Berry! A very inspiring blog, for sure – and I need to make some resolutions this year myself! (such as not being on sl so much and getting my typist’s tush walking around the neighborhood to get more physically fit! 😀 )… I’m sure many of us can relate to that one! NOTE: Skinny and slender people, ignore this chunky person behind the curtain.. 😀

I would love to know what you do in real life since you mentioned that your rl career is doing so well! If you need it to be private, I understand, but if not, I’m sure many of us would love to know what your rl avi does in the real world!

Thanks for all you do, for all the tutorials, bento information and demos, and so many other blogs about products we fellow shopaholics need to know about.

Wishing you a wonderful and peaceable 2017!

    Yours,

    Skye

Happy New Year Berry! I have loved following your blog and vlog this past year. It has really been one of the brighter sides of that year.

I want to also mention there is a subscription box called Bebe Bundle and it’s for toddleedoo avatars. I’ve never tried it but my sl god daughter has and she likes it. I’ve heard the price might vary month to month and that sometimes they have a bundle for mommies and their toddleedoos but don’t quote me on that.

  • Happy New Year Berry! Love your blog. <3

  • Thank you so much for all the love everyone! <3

Skye, I used to be a teacher but this past summer was promoted to a Department Head and Regional Coordinator.

  • Happy New Year 2017, Strawberry.

I enjoy following your blog and keep up the great work. 🙂

2017 is going to be amazing!

Happy New Year and thanks for all the great work. I have finally upgraded to the Bento Simone head and purchased your Simone shape. I wore your Zara shape with my non-bento Simone and I am excited to get myself all set up for the new year.

My boyfriend is ready to go bento too. He is settling of Signature’s Gianni body and GA.EG’s Dameon head. Just out of curiosity, do you plan on creating a shape for these? I would personally hound him until he buys it since I love the shapes you sell.

  • Happy New Year, Berry – and everyone!
2016 was a year of challenge for me – and I am now celebrating my first year gluten-free. Coeliac Disease made this a requirement for me, and it has been a bit of a trial, but I feel SO much better now that it’s been worth it. I look forward to continuing improvement of health in 2017, so – no matter what else is going on – I should be better prepared to live with balance.
Congratulations on your career advancements, Berry! We have worked in education (university profs), and so appreciate all you are doing for the students and teachers. Your work is important.
Thank you also for your work in SL. You bring much beauty, technological savvy, and grace to our beautiful virtual spaces.
    Be well and happy!
    2017, here we come!

  • Thanks so much Mireille! <3

Michelle, I do have a male shape up on my marketplace called John and that's the shape I wear with my Signature mesh body, you can see all the details about it on this page with video: https://strawberrysingh.com/2016/08/23/strawberrysingh-com-john-shape
For the GA.EG mesh head I have made a shape for this head with the body of my John shape, however I am still tweaking it and have not released it as of yet. When I do, I’ll be in my marketplace store.
