Bento Firestorm and Akeruka Bento Head

Akeruka Elen Bento Mesh Head

Firestorm finally has an alpha version of their Bento viewer available for download, however, you must join their group to get access to it. Right now they are in the testing phase and, according to their plurk, they are requesting people join their Phoenix-Firestorm Preview Group inworld and once you do, check the notices for a notecard that will have the download link in it. They are asking people not to share this link and to stay in the group and provide feedback. They want to sort out all of the bugs in the viewer before they go public with it so this is a great opportunity for all of us to download it, test it out and get it to perfection before it goes official. I have already joined and downloaded this version and have been testing it out since yesterday, so far I haven’t noticed anything too buggy but I will be making a list to help them out, hope you guys do the same!

I finally got a chance to update my shape for the Akeruka Elen Mesh head which was updated to a Bento version a couple of weeks ago. I have made a little video showing all of the options to this head and also showed myself playing with the sliders. Elen was a previously released head which was updated to Bento so if you had purchased it earlier, head down to the Akeruka mainstore and hit the redelivery. In the video I also showed the new Bento face animations that will be coming from Akeruka once Bento goes official.

The head is currently L$1699 but the price will increase once Bento goes official. It is Omega compatible but some designers have also started to create appliers for Akeruka mesh heads, here are just a few: Bold & Beauty, MidoriIzzie’s, YSYS and many more. Elen is available at the Akeruka mainstore.

If you are not familiar with Bento, here is some information and links that will explain it in detail:

  1. What is Bento? On December 15th, 2015, Linden Lab announced a new project called Bento. Basically what they are doing is adding additional bones to the Second Life avatar skeleton to support both rigging and animation.
  2. Weekly Meetings – Linden Lab has been having weekly meetings about Bento, which everyone is invited to. They announce them on the Bento User Group wikipage every week.
  3. Second Life Bento Release Candidate Viewer – You need to download the Second Life Bento Release Candidate Viewer in order to use or see any items rigged to the Bento Skeleton. Other residents will not be able to see your Bento items properly unless they are also using a Bento viewer.
  4. My Project Bento tag on my blog – Keep an eye on my Project Bento tag on my blog for all posts I make about Bento.
  5. My Project Bento YouTube PlayLists – Keep an eye on my Project Bento YouTube Playlist for all videos I make about Bento.

  1. Just voted for you in the Avi Choice Awards HERE :)

  2. Thank you so much Cheri, I really appreciate it!

    Hi Berry,

I am a longtime reader, first time commenter :)

I always seem to have a troublesome experience when positioning any type of eyes on Akeruka head, same thing happens with LeLutka. But anyway, I was wondering if you could make a tutorial of some sort on how to properly position mesh eyes on mesh heads? Also, when taking your pictures, do you use any type of eye positioning tool?

  4. L’Heure, I’ve covered how to position eyes as well as share an eye positioning HUD in my video at this link: https://youtu.be/aLI0_PV98Wk?t=2m45s

  5. Oh Strawberry, it’s amazing.
    I’m so ezxcited about Bento!
Can you tell me where is the Eyes Jewellery from?
    Ty!

  6. Have you made a shape for Mike bento yet ,i tried Marco on him ,would like to see buy it if you have .

  7. Hey Ava, the eye jewelry that you saw in the video was not really jewelry, it was one of the makeups that come with the head.

Hey Wino, I did make a Mike shape but I never released it as I was not completely satisfied with it. I will see if I can go back and fiddle with it some more and if I end up with something I like then I’ll release it.
