Catwa Cami Basic Female Mesh Head

Catwa Cami Basic Female Mesh Head

Last week Catwa released the Cami head. Cami is a basic female mesh head that costs L$900. Any additional add-ons such as animations and blinking cost extra, you can check the price chart on Catwa’s flickr for all the details.

If you check out Catwa’s video, you will see she kind of has a Kardashian/Cher kind of feel to her but of course you can make her look quite different by using the three head sliders (Head Size, Head Stretch and Head Length) and also different skins. I am wearing my regular mesh head Zara shape with this head. My favorite skin with this head is Bold & Beauty Chloe, however I have done a video below showing the head in the following skins and playing around with the HUDs.

> Amara Beauty Dana
> Glam Affair Viktoria
> Insol Ashley
> DeeTaleZ Gabriella
> YSYS Taylor
> L’Etre Cheyenne

  • Cami looks beautiful and ty for doing the video showing various skins! While watching, I am struck by how organized you are! Seriously I can’t even keep track of what is in each of the 5 applier slots in my Lara HUD lol.

If you are ever stumped for blog ideas, maybe a few pointers from you on how to organize? I apologize if you already have done, point me to it please.

  • The Catwa heads are awesome (and pricey), hundreds of dollars just for the blinking animation… I don’t know what to think.

OT: Help me Strawberry… my Second Life Official viewer refreshes the textures every moment… it’s really annoying because when I want to make a photo the textures are refresing… then some textures are ok and another one starts to refresh… you known.. in an infinite bucle… This happen even if I’m not moving the camera…
I can leave the Viewer alone… and the textures never loads at full. This situation stops when the graphics settings are at a low level, why? I can’t make a good photo …. you known… including shadows and detailed meshes and so on .. 🙁

  • @Berry Thanks for the headsup on that andro body. I’ve filled in the questionnaire, and it’s given me the impetus I need to finally ask Siddean Munro about the possibility of a Slink High foot for men.

@Tess You’ve run into what’s called ‘texture thrashing’ which is when your viewer is out of texture memory. I had this issue a couple of years back on the Firestorm viewer, and – back then – disabling HTTP textures fixed it, but that doesn’t work these days.

To narrow down why it’s happening, you’ll need to provide a lot more information than you have here, though. Just saying “this is happening, why is it happening?” won’t help anyone to help you, I’m afraid!

    Check for things such as:

    – Does it happen as soon as you log in or only after you’ve been inworld for a while? (If it’s only after you’ve been inworld for a while, try relogging to clear the texture memory.)

    – Does it happen in every location, or only certain ones? (If it only happens in certain locations, they may contain objects with a lot of high-resolution textures. On previous JIRAs that I’ve found about this, people have discovered that creators of certain objects have used ridiculously-high texture sizes for very small things (eg: 1024px textures used on the tiny doorknob of a mesh house) which will, naturally, fill up a viewer’s texture memory far more quickly. Try logging in at locations where it doesn’t happen and staying in them for as long as it takes for it to usually happen in locations where it does occur.)

    – Have you tried logging into somewhere like Pooley (or any of the regions that LL suggest you try when troubleshooting) to see if the issue happens there? Try to find an old location with only Linden builds that feature small, old textures. (If it still happens there, that will rule out the possibility that it’s buildings/objects with high-res textures all over them.)

    – Do you have a large contacts list and/or often receive group or personal IM sessions? (This question is linked to the fact that the recent CHUI addition to the viewer keeps the icons for each group and contact permanently in texture memory, thereby reducing the available texture memory you have during a login session.)

    – Do you have an AMD/ATI graphics card? (The previous texture thrashing issue was mostly related to owners of that type of card.)

    – Has this only recently happened, and was it after a viewer update? (If so, check the JIRA for any reported bugs to do with texture thrashing for that viewer.)

    – Can you reproduce the issue on another viewer, such as Firestorm? Ensure that you have the same graphics preference settings: amount of cache/texture memory, etc. (This will test whether it’s a viewer issue or possibly a limitation of your computer or the settings you have in the LL viewer.)

    – Try manually clearing your viewer’s texture cache. Don’t use the viewer’s “Clear Cache” option; do it manually on your computer. Depending on which OS you’re using (I’ll give you the Windows 7 option here, since that’s what I use), you’ll find it in: C:\Users\[name]\AppData*\Local\SecondLife\texturecache (*Note that AppData is a hidden folder. You may need to enable viewing of hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer before you can see it. You’ll find that in Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders.)

Finally, if none of those options offer a hint as to why it’s happening, open a support ticket and give as much detail as possible. Tell them the answers to all of the questions I’ve asked (or as many as you’re able to try). Also, ensure that you give them your system specs, so they know what your computer is capable of. (You may need to attach all of this in a text file, since you only get a limited number of characters to explain your support issue.) This will allow them to narrow down the reasons why it may be happening. (I don’t know how you get those system specs in the official viewer, but in Firestorm you find it in Help > About, at the bottom of the panel.)

Hope some of that helps a little.

  • Thank you so much…
Well, I have an AMD card, and of course this happens very often from two/three months ago…A year ago this was not an issue on my PC (SL/Firestorm)… However, recently (two/three motnhss ago) I’ve updated the amd driver, win8 -> windows10, and the SL Viewer… Anyways thank you!… I’ll fill a JIRA if this issue persists *

    Hi Strawberry…

First let me say I enjoy your blog very much. It’s educational. I do have a question…do you have any instructions on how to add skins to the Lara body and catwa mesh head? Someone helped me with the appliers for Lara body and catwa head however I seem to be unable to get it to work. So if you have an instructional video or blog could you post it for me?

You have such a beautiful avi. I hope to master mine someday. Lol

    Thanks in advance,
    Arden

  • Monerda, I’m actually really bad about organizing my inventory. I just can’t seem to keep up. Anya Ohmai did a few great tutorials about inventory management that I think you’ll find informative: http://blog.ohmai.net/?cat=331

Tess, actually Catwa heads seem to be the most inexpensive with many options compared to most of the other mesh heads on the market right now. As for your SL glitch, I use Firestorm so I don’t experience anything like that but I think Skell has offered some great advice.

    Skell, thank you for that!

Arden, I actually show in the video in this blog post how I applied the skin appliers on to the head. If it’s not working out for you, then I suggest contacting the designer of whichever head you have for some customer service assistance.
