StrawberrySingh.com 2015 Holiday Giveaway!

StrawberrySingh.com 2015 Holiday Giveaway!

Before I get into the details of the giveaway I’m having this year, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you. Yesterday I found out that I won two AVI Choice Fashion Awards: Favorite Fashion Blogger and Favorite Fashion Blog. It truly means a lot to be appreciated for something you love to do. Blogging is not only just a hobby of mine, but it has slowly become a passion. I enjoy sharing a bit of my Second (and sometimes real) life here with you all and I am so thankful for all of your support and encouragement. So thank you for voting and thinking of me and also a big thank you to the AVI Choice team for putting it all together!

I was just told today that I am also nominated for a ‘Best of YouTube’ for Second Life Brasil Awards.  I’m not sure why I’m nominated in that category though as I don’t have many videos on my youtube channel, perhaps it’s because I’ve started streaming Second Life on youtube? Anyways, I really think Drax is the one that deserves this award as he has brought so much positive attention to SL through his World Makers youtube series. So if you get a moment, please vote for Draxtor Despres!

I wanted to show my appreciation and have a giveaway on my blog for this holiday season as a thank you to all of you for the continuous support. I started doing this annual holiday giveaway in 2013 when I gave away 5 gift cards to 5 of my favorite stores. In 2014 I gave away a L$5000 gift card to Maitreya.

This year I have decided to give away two gift cards, one for Catwa worth L$4000 and the second a photography gift card for a single portrait by me worth L$1500. One lucky winner will get this folder dropped on them:

To use these gift cards:
> For the Strawberry Singh Photography card, you must rez it and open the contents. You will then receive a folder with a notecard inside named “Book with Berry” that will contain full instructions on how to redeem your card.
> For the Catwa gift card, you must wear it, go to the Catwa mainstore and click on the gift cards redeemer to earn store credits.

StrawberrySingh.com 2015 Holiday Giveaway!

The reason I chose Catwa this year is because they have mesh heads for both men and women now, as you can see from the picture above, and so far all of their mesh heads are L$3599 each. Therefore the L$4000 gift card should cover the full cost of a mesh head and perhaps any hair you would like to purchase along with it. Yes Catwa also carries some gorgeous hair! I have also heard that Catwa will be releasing even more mesh heads in the coming year, so even if there is nothing there right now that interests you, I’m sure you will be able to use your gift card in the near future.

Please note that this giveaway is not affiliated with or sponsored by Catwa in any way. I have purchased the gift card with my own money as a thank you gift for all the love and support you guys give me.

I have been on a mesh head blogging binge this year and I’ve really been enjoying it. I figured it would be a great opportunity to ask you guys some questions about mesh heads and what your feelings are about them, especially since this is such a heated topic!

Giveaway Instructions

Leave a comment in this post by answering the following questions:

  1. What is your full Second Life name?
  2. Do you own a mesh head?
  3. How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

Aside from the questions, (and this is not a mandatory part of entering the giveaway) I would appreciate it if you shared this post on at least one of your social networks.

The giveaway will end on December 18th at 8am SLT, so you have a little under two weeks to leave a comment and enter. As I have done in previous years, on December 18th at 8am SLT I will input all your names into the Randomizer and let the website choose the winner. I will announce the winner’s name in the comments after that time and then drop the giveaway folder on them.

I decided to go with December 18th because it is a week before Christmas and in case you didn’t want to use the gift cards for yourself, you are free to gift them to a loved one for the holiday season. Or you can just treat yourself! 😛

StrawberrySingh.com Photography Gift Cards and Advertising Sale

Since it is the holiday season, I thought this would be a great time to mention that I have my Photography Gift Cards up for sale in my marketplace store, in case you are looking for a gift for your loved ones:

StrawberrySingh.com Awards

I’ve saved all of the awards and trophies I’ve received so far and I thought it would be nice to take an image of a few of them. It really brought back a lot of memories seeing them again. The lovely Mr. Jefferson also sent me a glass cabinet to display all of them in so I set them up in my house inworld. Thank you again for visiting my blog and voting for me, I really appreciate it!

I can’t believe this year is almost over, it’s gone by so fast. Thank you for all the love in 2015. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your real and Second Life families. Happy Holidays! ♥

Do you own a mesh head? – Not one that I’ve bought with the purpose of actually wearing for more than a couple of costume blog posts.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? – I do kinda feel like they make people look fairly similar, depending on the head. There are some people that used to have very distinct faces and now they look exactly like other people. But some people make the heads look completely different and I have no idea how they managed that! Magic? LOL!

    Yes

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?~

I love them, I love how smooth they are and I love the options for expressions! I don’t think they make everyone look the same – my SL BFF and I both wear the same head but we really don’t look the same. We say we’re sisters because my face is rounded and a little chubby and she’s sleek and elegant even in the exact same skin (my current twitter cover pic @shaedynlee is a prime example right now – same head & skin on us both yet we’re so very different.) I think a lot of it is perception, I know my friends without seeing their name tags just by their style, it’s like you can almost feel the differences in just the ways they accessorize or the AOs they choose.

  • Full SL name is alianahdarke. I currently do not own a mesh head. If I found one I really liked I would save money up for it. My thoughts on them is: As long as you are happy with how you look, then they are a-okay. It’s your av, do as you wish.

Do you own a mesh head? ~ i do! i own stella from lelutka and alex from logo.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? ~ i have a kind of love-hate relationship with them. i think they’re so beautiful, and they correct all the jaggy flaws in the default avatar head, and they photograph gorgeously, but yes i do feel like a clone when i wear mine. i try to mix it up with different mix-and-match makeup combos and piercings and eyes and everything else, but i still feel like they’re just pretty photo props in the end that make me look like every other mesh head owner. somehow this doesn’t stop me from collecting and demoing and grabbing all the appliers i can and wearing them, though!

Do you own a mesh head? I own several!

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I absolutely used to hate them..but..then they got really good and now I can not imagine doing any of my store ads without them lol. I think the array of skins and different heads keeps it from being too clone like.

    – I own Catwa Annie, nearly all the genesis heads, and lelutka.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

    – I think there are a lot of ways to make a mesh head your own. Certainly there is a limit to the amount of changed a person can make with them, but I don’t think you look like a clone and I don’t think my blog posts are clone-like either. Plus they look great under windlight shadows!

Do you own a mesh head? Yes , I own several and wear Catwa Jessica almost all the time.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Initially I felt as many, that I would never wear a mesh head because I would lose my individual appearance and the ease of customization/ personalization of my avi. However the photography advantage won me over and the deal was sealed when many of my favourite skin creators began releasing appliers in a steady stream. The appearance of a Catwa male head is very exciting, I hope the male skin makers are as supportive. Not that I have anything against the traditional shape and skin combination but I love options, and this option suits me!

  • 1. Veenya
    2. Yes, Lelutka Stella
    3. I’ve struggled a bit at making the head feel like ‘me’, but instead of obsessing over achieving my old look, I decided to go for a new one. I’m starting to feel more at home in it every day and I love the expressions for blogging.

  • What is your full Second Life name? – STARVED Magic

Do you own a mesh head? – Yes! I own all the Lelutka, Slink, and two of Logo.I love them all. Each has a unique facial structure, what makes the head different for each person is the skin you put over it. Which leads me to the next question.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? – It all depends on how you dress it up. What skin you put over the basic structure of your head. I started out with Logo’s mesh heads back two years ago, and at that time I just used the skin that came with it, because no one else was making appliers. With Leluka’s mesh head, it was a no brainer as I already was a Glam Affair girl, and Aida’s skin was all I ever wore. But now…with the explosion of skin appliers for the mesh heads, I don’t feel I look like a clone.

Congratulations Berry, for your two AVI CHOICE awards.

Do you own a mesh head? Yes, after months and months I finally bought the Logo head after they released the make up layers. I decided to go with Logo because I liked the Aria skin applier from Lara Hurley and I felt like it looked like “me” only without all the imperfections that the standard head has. I do also at some point want to purchase the Catwa head, I really LOVE what she is doing with her heads and I think she does at updating and has great customer service. When I’ve had questions about her product she’s always glad to answer.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I think it kind of depends, for the heads that do have several skin appliers from other skin creators and the accessories you wear (hair, eyes, makeups) etc. I do think if you buy the heads as is and just wear them you are going to tend to look the same but I think if you really work at finding unique products and working to make yourself look like “you” it can be accomplished. I really like mesh heads they add something more realistic I feel to the look. I think as long as we have creators who are willing to make 3rd party products for these heads we don’t really have to worry about all looking the same.

Do you own a mesh head? – Yes. I have the Lelutka Karin mesh head

How do you feel about mesh heads? I feel that it was about time that, with mesh heads, we can add to our expressions in every day wanderings and especially in pictures. Now if creators could come up with tears for mesh heads, I would be in seventh heaven.

How do you feel about mesh head? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
I have to say yes, tbh – at least to me, especially some brands. I dunno if i would use it on a daily basis, but lately i’ve found some head that are “different” from the others on the market, and with the right skins can be really really cute.

    – On an ‘alternative’ account I use for fun. On Naomi; who I have had 8+ years, I can not see myself give up the custom shape I created and those I later will create.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
    – At first, I did. I did think it just made the SL experience flood with clones. I avoided, heavily, the use of them no matter how smooth and fluid they appeared. However, soon Mesh Heads began to come out that were less ‘distinct’, not in a bad way. Skinners began to prove to me how far the textures goes in play of what a mesh head looks to be. My Alt has a LOGO Alex, and a Catwa now. They are stunning and; no one knew what they were because I had use skins that adapted them into something more their own for me the user. — I admit tho, like with Mesh Bodies, I hope to see a Mesh Head that is just a smoother default that works with sliders. I would hate to lose that control; and thus keep my main account in shapes I create. I still feel that is most unique.

Do you own a mesh head? No I do not…

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I think with mesh heads it makes everyone look the same, we shouldn’t try to be clones. I also think with the idea of a mesh head and all these other mesh body parts (despite owning the Maitreya body myself) it might put the shape makers out of business. I mean this is what they do they create beautiful faces and we cover them up with a mesh head that everyone and their mother has. I don’t own one because of that reason, I use to have a mesh head from a gacha but I got rid of it because I looked the same as someone else I know in world. I like having my own face that I made and looking great I wouldn’t want that taken away because I have the exact same mesh head as everyone else.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
I think that mesh heads complete the avatar in second life. We change our bodies, feet and hands. Why not our heads too! To some extent I feel that mesh heads are a clone if worn straight out of the box, but changing your avatar head and eye numbers as well as selecting a unique skin it should be enough so we are not totally identical.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I feel the mesh head looks all the same feature. I only use it when i have to blog with their make up. I wish they can have mesh head that goes with your own feature just like the mesh body. I feel isnt me at all when i have the mesh head.

  • Congratulations, Berry 🙂 You are truly the SL Fashion Blogging Queen!

    Full SL Name: Peep Sideshow

Do you own a mesh head? Yes, I own the LeLutka Aria mesh head and a couple of Genesis mesh heads (from a gacha and a blogging review copy of Tara)

How do you feel about mesh head? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? While I like that they are smooth and good for photography, I prefer my system head. All of the mesh heads I have tried just don’t seem to be “me.” I am hoping that someday we’ll be able to use sliders to adjust our heads more, like we can with mesh bodies. I never take off my mesh body, because it still reflects the shape I created. However, I recently bought the Slink Physique mesh body for my male alt, and I would be interested in seeing how he looks in the Catwa male head. I’m more likely to experiment with his look, since I’m not as heavily invested emotionally in him as I am in Peep.

  • What is your full Second Life name? – Scarlett Robinson
Do you own a mesh head? – No I do not. I’ve been looking at them recently

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? – Initially I hated them. I thought they made everyone look similar and they looked alien like. More recently there are some really great looking ones that are so realistic. There is still the issue of everyone looking similar though

  • What is your full Second Life name? Lucie Bluebird
Do you own a mesh head? Yes! I have three of the newer ones and both of the SLink ones.
How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I used to feel this way, and I was reluctant to use them except when I really wanted a good expression for a blog post or store ad. But then, as more heads came out, and as more appliers became available, I began to get intrigued.

One of my issues, too, was at first the mesh head explosion was all LeLutka, and while they’re utterly gorgeous they didn’t have expressions at first, and initially it was all Glam Affair skins. Which again, are freakin’ gorgeous, but I think that was partly why there was a lot of pushback from people about them all looking the same.

Now, though, with the added expressions and the other heads available, there’s so many options and I really do think it’s possible to feel like “me” in a mesh head. I think it helps that I’ve been an obsessive skin collector for years and so I’ve frequently changed my face in that way. I have a feeling for people who get attached to one skin and wear it for a long time, it’s going to be harder to adjust to the heads.

And, my final bit of rambling, I had an applier that had a LOGO version and a system skin version. When I compared the two, and I saw how much sharper and prettier the skin was on a mesh head, I kind of became an instant full-time convert. And I haven’t been in a system skin since.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I think with so many different appliers on the market, the same head with a different skin and some makeup can look completely unique if you buy the right head and work at it.

  • Full SL name: hannuka Resident

Well yes i have mesh head.
But honestly i dont like it. I think its because i didnt find the perfect skin yet for it, or i dont know. I have bought lots of applier and everything but i still using my “normal” head instead of it. Maybe becouse i love my face how it looks itself. Or maybe im not skilled enough to make my mesh head look better.

  • Zach Wheatcliffe

Do you own a mesh head? Yes, several from The Mesh Project and one or two from Labyrinth
How do you feel about mesh heads? I enjoy them honestly. Though they can look pretty similar from avatar to avatar, I have enough skills with making my own skins that I’m able to make a skin for the head that no one else will have.

  • Nadia Voljeti

Do you own a mesh head? One from Genesis

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I actually enjoy the mesh heads. Depending on the skin and the shape used with the head you can change your looks from the “norm” of the head. I do enjoy using my mesh head time to time within my photos.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them: Love them! So well designed…flawless really. And unique as we want to make them. I feel like myself no matter what head I’m wearing. 🙂 My avatar doesnt reflect me physically…but it does reflect my personality and isnt that how we should see life. 🙂
Love your photos!! bows to the queen Singh.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
I think there is more variety in the female heads. All do not look alike. But there is still not enough male heads to choose from and many of them look the same, even with adding different skins, beards, different color hair, etc.

  • Patty Tisane

    First of all, congratulations Berry!!!!!!!!
What is your full Second Life name? Patty Tisane
I own the first LOGO Chloe, I wear still from time to time, one from Lelutka, and 3 from Genesis Lab
I feel very comdy with them, I must admit I wear more the genesis ones, because they have something different, (asiat style, or quite easy for a non speaking well english woman like me)
I enjoy them and only regret that when I love a skin, from a special designer, I can find applier for all my different mesh head.. life isnt that easy lol
    hugs

  • 1. My full (Rez name, ha) is Alexis Valimedzic

    2. I recently purchased the Logo Alex Mesh head. It was actually one of your pics from Flickr, that made me make my final decision to go mesh above the shoulders!

    3. I believe, like anything in life, if you put time, effort, and in this case lindens into it..you aren’t going to end up as cookie cutter. But let’s face it, things were like that even before mesh heads came along. It just made it a little more tricky to tweak.

However, to those of you who do not own a mesh head yet and are considering the leap. I cannot stress enough to do your research. While most skin creators and appliers have a selection of at least one per mesh head creator. I have found that some seem to favor some over others.

I am a long time lover of Essences Skins. While Mr. Lambert had a couple appliers out for Logo, it seems most his stuff is Catwa. Both are lovely heads, but I miss my skins terribly!

So please be aware, if you have a preference of appliers which they seem to create more for.

I’ve found, after running into that problem.. I tend to only use my head, when I want expression in pics…hopefully one day, there will be equality in applibiltiy (LOL, #dontjudgeme #LexForPresident2016)

    – ;No i don’t own a MEshehad as im not that satisfied with the Heads ,they all look so unnatural ,like Barbies ,the only one who tempt me to get one is the head of Catwa it’s not looks like plastic but i havent tryed yet , will try the demo , but its looks great on Pictures
What i also don’t like on Mesh head that on some ,everyone looks so similat and i just like the unique Style

  • Cristalle Karami

What is your full Second Life name? Cristalle Karami

Do you own a mesh head? Several. Lelutka Karin & Stella, Logo Alex and Eve.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I like the smoothness, and I especially like the heads where you can at least change the shape of the face with sliders so they don’t look quite exactly the same as other people’s faces. But I think that the headmakers can do more to provide more individuality. I know it’s hard work but they can do it. If Belleza can change the mesh to make pushup breasts, there should be a way to change noses, lips ears and even eye shape. And better makeup layers, so we can change blush/shading on the skin – Although Catwa has already done this.

With as many appliers as there are coming out now, it’s increasingly less likely to see someone with the exact same face, and that’s a good thing. More choices, more individuality, and the head sales will really take off.

  • Tamsyn Abbot

Hi, I’m Tamsyn Abbot and no, currently I don’t a own a mesh head. I’ve tried on many mesh head demo’s with different appliers and found some I like quite a bit. How do I feel about mesh heads? Everyone has their own distinct way of how they want to portray themselves in SL and for some it will mean staying with the system head and for some experimenting with mesh heads and developing a look they are happy with. Personally I look forward to checking out more mesh heads and what else may be coming out in the future.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
I love mesh heads because they look awesome in pictures and instead of buying skins that make me look like everyone else, it’s fun to buy make up and then I can mix and match! Dressing up has never been soooo much fun. Plus, I have tried and purchased tons of mesh heads out in the market and they are all awesome in their own way! It really depends how you mix and match the make up to make you look more like you!

  • Morgan Jones

What is your full Second Life name? MorganJones95

Do you own a mesh head? No but I am definitely not opposed, it’s more about the price for me, I’ll eventually get one when I’m able to afford it, I really like the new Catwa Jackson head and I’m sure some nice appliers will come out soon.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

No I definitely don’t think they make everyone look like a clone, as they can adjust to the shape and size of your head, therefore they are not all going to be shaped the same, especially when you customize them with makeup etc etc.

There is a lot of skin appliers for mesh heads as well, so when you consider all of these factors – you can make them look totally unique. They look much more realistic than the regular SL Avatar heads, especially with all of the animations in the head themselves.

They’re very smooth and I love how they look.

The heads are different, and even with the same head, if you’ve a different skin applier? Looks totally different. I think they’re so amazing for pictures and all that good stuff!

I love them, and I have several that I switch between. I hear people at that heads make everyone look like clones, but I don’t feel that at all! Everyone has their own style, even if you are wearing the same head as someone else. I, personally, don’t think Sai looks the same as anyone else. Besides the pointy-ness and lumps on the default avatar face is not missed by me!

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I feel like the mesh heads kind of make everyone look similar, despite the different appliers and facial expressions. I wouldn’t mind wearing it for pictures to make the facial motions smoother (such as smiling, lip biting, etc) but as for daily use, probably not. I like my SL face.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? – I’m starting to warm up to them a little but I do think that they are still a little clone like. I also think that skin designers who release strictly mesh head appliers at events ect are really missing out on a lot of business. I know a lot of people who don’t have a mesh head so they miss out on a skin because it’s strictly an applier. In saying that though I do like the lines of mesh heads for pictures and the emotion options (although the smiles still look a little creepy and plastic if you ask me!)

Well now, I think you know how I feel about these since I expressed myself rather prolifically on your blog entitled: Uncanny Valley @ https://strawberrysingh.com/2015/11/12/uncanny-valley/ – and to reiterate: It’s kind of like a tug-of-war between our desire for perfection and our desire for individuality. Right now, my desire for perfection seems to be predominant…and I am mourning some of my gorgeous, adorable system skins that said so much about who I am here….HOWEVER, as these mesh heads become more and more advanced, I am more and more pleased with how I look…I add my own makeup, hair, *expressions* (when applicable), my own shape (as do we all), and somehow, I do think I still look like “me” as more options become available with these heads.…so then, who am I? I’m still me, the typist, behind them all, and hopefully, most people will know me by my crazy personality… For now, I think I’m content with that…

Well my opinion. I think mesh heads are great for pictures I love them! I really don’t have to remove any lines or wrinkles on my face on a program so it’s a bit easier for me (jaggered face free!) . I only use them for picture’s like ads or reg pictures because I really don’t like walking around looking like other people, I like my face to be unique. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting mesh heads to walk around with I hate looking at the side of my head because of that huge bump on the forehead lol!

I was not a fan of mesh heads originally. I had decided to wait until they started to improve. It appears that they have now, so I am in process of choosing one that appeals to me and is expressive. This is the first time I have been patient with a product in SL, and I truly believe that waiting has paid off.

~ My thoughts on them – At first, to be honest they did not interest me personally, but they were fascinating in a way; the realism. I wasn’t so much into looking like everyone else. Until, some designers came out with applier compatibility for different skin stores and makeups etc. Which gave me hope.Different skin appliers on mesh heads, was alot more interesting. I think even though it may be the same physical head, with different makeup& skin and your own style, its still possible to be yourself and unique or at least look less like a “clone”. Just the other day I saw a catwa mesh head that almost made me jump out of my skin xD! It was absolutely perfect. I’ve already planned for that to be the first mesh head that I buy (excluding my gacha ones) xD

I feel that there are some mesh heads out there that make everyone look cloneish.. but there are many that are starting to break that mold. I like the facial expressions that are out with some of them.. and acutally from your blog and my sisters buying them, I am noticing that Catawa has some of the best expressions.. I also love that more of the skin designers seem to be making appliers for the mesh heads and such.

Do I think they make people look like clones?
that depends, I think certain heads do, I have seen one especially VERY popular head that makes everyone look exactly the same. The fitted mesh heads (catwa, genesis) are pretty good because you can edit their appearance some. Me in Catwa annie looks totally different than my best friend in it for example because i have modified my head length and stuff underneath. I don’t like changing though, I want to find that perfect head I love and stick to it. I want it to be “ME” and at the moment, that is Catwa Annie! Thank you for this chance, it is very kind of you!

Beside the two female mesh heads from Catwa, I own 2 from Slink, 2 from LeLutka, 2 from Logo and 1 from Genesis.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
-I just love them but that took time. In the beginning I felt like it was not me, but then I found out what appliers can do combined with some makeup. The option to stretch your head also helped.
Appliers make the head, it gives you this individual look and you don’t have to stick to one designer.

Going back to regular would be like me not wearing my mesh feet just unthinkable.

I would admit that at first, I was puzzled. While the realism and singularity of the Mesh heads attracted me, I feared that it would only be a way to standardize the SLians avatars. Yet, in time, more designers got in that field and brought their own particular magic to it all. Vco for instance is inimitable in the cutesy, the kid heads she brought to us are simply amazing and successfully translate a variety of realistic expressions. Each and every head differs, and my preference goes to Catwa, Logo and Genesis for their allow facial expressions as well.

There is a risk to look like someone else for I think we are all connected, in a good way, if you have an idea, there is a slight chance somebody else might have it, however with so many appliers, so many avatar accessories and possibilities it is way easier to make it your own, to stand out by allowing that little self magical sparkle to show. You are the best exemple of how unique you can make a mesh head look.

On another note, I’d like to thank you for being an inspiration over the years. You are one of the reason I started blogging even though the idea scared me at first. You are extremely generous, not only for doing such a gorgeous gift before Christmas, but in the way you blog, giving such deep and useful feedbacks to help us enhance our Second Life experience. How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I feel that a mesh head gives us all something new, something more. The mesh heads add a lot of realism to SL for me, the shape of the mesh heads make them look more real to me than a non mesh head.

I don’t believe that they make everyone look like a clone at all, there are a variety of mesh heads out now so lots of different looks for everyone to try. So everyone can have new and interesting looks.

  • 1) Freyja Nemeth

    2) Yes, Slink Emma and Slink Becky.

    3) I am a bit divided on mesh heads. I do feel they lead to a lot of similar-looking avatars, though as the amount of mesh heads and the amount of appliers increases, this obviously becomes less of an issue. More of an issue for me, personally, is that I haven’t really found a head that is in a style that I like, they all tend to be too cutesy and have the wrong sort of profiles. Slink Emma comes the closest, I suppose. The expressions that I am seeing from some of the newer heads look really fun, though, and I do use the heads now and then when blogging just like I would use any other “dress up” elements, like elf ears. They’re not a part of my “regular” avatar, but can be fun to play with.

-Yes I have one from genesis labs and *(OO)*Yuki

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
-I like mesh heads the way they are and I don’t really think that they make everyone look like a clone. For one because we can wear different skins, makeups and such with them if it just have an applier with the specific head you have. I was really upset when I am seeing someone criticize about the mesh heads, on how about they makes another avi looks like the other. For me mesh heads are cute specially with their emotions.
I love dressing up with them according to what mesh head I am wearing. I like dressing up like a Japanese cute girl when I am wearing my mesh head from *(OO)*Yuki and I like wearing cool clothes with my mesh head from Genesis Labs.
I really appreciate those creators who made this happened specially Linden Labs for all the upgrades they are doing in second life. I think that without these upgrades to our avis we will really look like an avatar in a game where we don’t really have a choice on how we will dress up our avis. Mesh heads, bodies, hairs, clothes, etc., they make our avis a lot more realistic other than those virtual worlds like IMVU or Sims.

~Mesh heads are awesome to say the least! I feel like before more Creators started coming out with them that there was this same look (clone look) that many had, even if they had put on an applier for their head. Now with so many different brands finally coming out with their creative mesh heads, we are able to individualize ourselves much more. Also for those taking photos and so forth, there is much less to tweek in editing as far as the nose and other parts of the classic SL face. I am throughly enjoying Genesis Lab Mesh heads at the moment and what makes them more exclusive are the Gacha versions that she has been rolling out the last couple of months-that in and of itself makes my look more individualized and not everyone will have had that exact same head, plus you can mix around the Genesis Lab appliers from her other Gachas and so forth! This makes me enjoy dressing my Gia up SO much and I simply feel like, me; Which is important even in this world! I am excited to get on the Catwa train, so to speak and can’t wait to see what else they come up with for their Mesh heads.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I do think they make everyone look the same because they are so distinctive. I find it very disconcerting that some of the bloggers I follow are hard to distinguish from each other if I just look at their photos. I can see why they wear them because they are smooth an save a lot of post processing time. I think it’s a very expensive business with the cost of the head plus the different appliers. I love my Maitreya body dearly but I’m not quite ready to give up my carefully tweaked distinctive face for a mesh head just yet. Unless I win the gift card of course. lol.

I love mesh heads, as a skin creators point of view they allow for much greater detail in our skin textures that is otherwise eaten by the SL-texture monster. Since so many people make different skins, makeups and other addons I feel like it is simple to create your own unique look, so it does not make everyone look like clones. Since I love changing looks and go crazy I’m very happy to see so many mesh heads being released, even though it’s seriously eating into the wallet. 😀

At first, I was very hesitant to make that big change, from having the simple standard Avatar head and now to a mesh head. I am very glad that I allowed myself to make that big change. Mesh head is part of Second Life’s evolution, we have to embrace it. It may not be for everyone but there is a certain feeling of satisfaction when you know that you are part of the community’s growth. I don’t believe that having a mesh head makes you look like a clone because you choose what you want to look like and I believe that every avatar is different from one another as you put a bit of yourself into it … it is somehow a reflection of your personality and of what you aspire to be. I love dressing up my avatar now that she is 100 % mesh because many designers/creators made sure that my mesh body and head will be able to achieve the look I want my avatar to have.

    – Mesh heads are a fickle creature, in my opinion. Yes, for some it does create a bit of a uniformity in the cookie-cutter way, but that is not the case for everyone. I believe that even with a mesh head, we can still create unique and beautiful looks, it just takes the right combination of skin, hair, eyes, and of course MAKEUP! I personally haven’t dabbled too much into playing with mesh heads, since I bought the Slink one early on and there really wasn’t much for it. But, I’d love to be able to create new and strange art with the Catwa mesh head. <3

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

Somehow the head meshes makes us look the same when we do not apply make-ups or skins and we keep on the basics. Since saturday I started to try and make my own make-ups so I can have my own look and style, but just because we’re wearing the same mesh heads doesn’t mean we’re the same as personality so I don’t think that should make the things so differently.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? -I was quite wary of them a few years ago, but they have come a long way. Experimentation with sliders and of course trying different skins with different heads will give – does give – many different looks. I have been experimenting with demos but haven’t taken the plunge *yet* because I like my “own” face.

3.How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
At first I was skeptical as the common opinion seems to be the avi won’t look like “me” seeing as we all used to spend so much time tweaking our standard avi heads to be just us I was hoping for a more fitted and adjustable version, but took the plunge anyway. Once I did I never looked back, there is A LOT of customization available for most mesh heads and even someone in my same head/skin doesn’t have the eyes, hair, brows, accessories. I definitely still feel like me!

The face just looked different. i don’t know if it is because i got used to looking at my avi all the time, or the fact that it took my long time to find something that i am comfortable with and in a way represents me as a person. i recently upgraded my avi to mesh body, and i am comfortable with that decision, but a mesh head is not something that i am comfortable with.

to be honest i entered my comment for the photography opportunity, i have seen your photos and they are simply magnificent. so if i won by any chance i would give the mesh head to some one else and take the photography gift card to me.

PS: you deserve the two avi choice awards.

Do you own a mesh head?
Yes, I own the Catwa Jessica but have tried many of them.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
I spent ages being very anti-mesh heads, especially when the first wave appeared. This is my second SL avatar and I never could resolve my personal issues using mesh heads with the first one. I tried several skins, even going so far as to purchase them and don them for a few days to a week, and found myself logging on one day and just declaring, “No! No, no, no! Kill it with fire!” when I saw my avatar.

Since creating the new avatar, I had a very fixed goal: Mesh myself completely from day one, including all my previous staples – a Maitreya body, Mandala ears, and Ikon eyes. I chose the Catwa head as I found it had the plumpest lips and I enjoyed the versatility of the HUD. I initially used two or three different skins until Deetalez released the Madison, which you are wearing in picture 1. I love it and found it made me look so different from anyone else I’d seen thus far. But, honestly, the clincher was the glossy lips. My previous avatar had always had glossy lips and I wanted the current one to have them also, so it was a no-brainer.

The conclusion I have reached is, actually I was probably one of the first to say that mesh heads were a flash-in-the-pan and wouldn’t take off. I was so sure no one, especially me, would go for cookie-cutter avatars all looking the same and I couldn’t see SL’s current configuration being accommodating enough to allow any variety in mesh heads. I have since been proven wrong and can see that, with the amazing talents of SL skin makers and their shading techniques drawing the eye to different aspects of each face, that mesh heads can look very quirky and unique.

If ever a practical and affordable custom mesh head system arises, I shall probably even resuscitate my old avatar and reward her with a mesh head too.

You blog is very interesting as always!

I own some different mesh heads, most of them are from genesis. I also have two custom mesh heads.
I think that the most important thing about the mesh heads is to look for a good applier, if possible not from very famous brands..so it will make your avatar more different from the others. Tho’ I wouldn’t choose to wear the lelutka head: it is amazing, but too many people are wearing it!
If people would take a more deeper look around they would discover how many A M A Z I N G heads there are aside from the most popular brands. Like fiore for example 🙂
Last thing to say is that mesh heads for people who like to take pictures are really a must, because once you try to shoot with a mesh head you will never go back 😛

    Mesh Head: No

I don’t feel like it’s really fair to lump mesh heads under a single bracket. Though they are all a serious improvement on the angular mess that is the default head I feel like they come in two camps.

The heads coming out with single expression, single or limited skin options, limited alpha options and no tattoo/makeup functionality I’m not particularly impressed by. Yes, they are going to lead to indentikit faces which I’m not enamored of, though if we get enough variety of them available that may be reduced.

Those with full applier systems provide enough options and customization through third party store support to make it possible to for them to look relatively different. Again, you still get a lot of overlap but with how many are now being released or worked on I don’t envision this remaining a problem forever.

My biggest issue with mesh heads is the load they put on systems – the fitted bodies were bad enough, Logo as a single example is twice the graphics weight of most of the bodies. I fully understand the desire for detail, but if you start getting multiple people with heads and bodies in the same sim, performance is going to significantly drop for everyone and that is a far bigger issue than people looking similar.

I think that with the small bit of sliders (yes wish we could alter more) and the variety of skins and makeups that there is enough diversity that we do not appear as clones.
I do enjoy playing with them though i have not committed to every day yet : )
it took me awhile to get to everyday with my mesh body though now i rarely take it off.

I believe there are many more mesh heads options out there, than advertised or seen in use, in vendor ads or blogposts. Many seem to use two, three brands of mesh heads, and due to SL’s lack of options when editing head collision bones, most look identical. However, the mesh head market is ever growing, with so many possibilities, that it’s very easy to gain smooth, gorgeous mesh features, without looking like a clone 🙂 I wear a mesh head most of the time, unless at laggy events where I try to lower my Avatar Draw as much as possible.

I enjoy them! There’s a few I can pick out quickly ‘in the wild’, so to speak, but like with the base sliders, I think the choice of skin/applier, makeup, hairstyle, eyes, clothing styling, etc. can affect a genuinely astonishing range of appearances. The fact that there’s so many of them now helps! I have some that I like for ‘dress up’, but I know for me personally that CATWA’s Jessica felt like it was quite close to my non-mesh face, and I feel like ‘me’ when I’m wearing it, more so than I have with any other head… although I do pretty much always wear one now.

Mesh Head?: Yes, I own two: Genesis and Lelutka.

Do they clone people?: When I first heard about mesh heads, that was the impression I had. Everyone must look exactly alike. But then I was gifted one and found so many different combinations between skin, make-up, expressions and even slight shape differences helped to create a unique look. Yes it may be similar to others, but that’s also like saying you look like a clone because you have 10 fingers and 10 toes. Anyone that’s hesitant about mesh heads I would really suggest giving them a try! Especially if you love to take photos.

I never feel like a clone in my mesh head. I think my style, hair choices, and AO go a long way to making me unique. I’ve never come across someone and went “that’s my face!”
I love how smooth and refined they look, and now there is a lot more variation between heads allowing people to switch it up.

I think that they do have the uncanny valley feel to them, but at the same time…avatars on the whole have that feel, considering they are not ‘real’ so it doesn’t really make that big a difference in the grand scope. What does trouble me at times are the vast amount of facial look alike types that can come with using the same head/same skin applier and not doing too much to change it up. Granted, I’m not that versed in how mesh heads can or cannot be edited to give a different look, so I don’t know how much they can be altered to look unique. That being said, I was staunchly against buying a mesh head because I didn’t want to be a cookie cutter avatar, but of late my curiosity about them has caused me to change my mind and decide to start a hunt for one that works with my skin so I don’t have to change my entire facial appearance. When I start using a skin that I love, I can keep it for years without wanting a change, and my skin has Omega appliers, so it may be easier to find a head that works…once I find one that suits me.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I tend to be resistant to change when it comes to mesh bodies/enhancements, for instance I was hesitant when Slink feet and hands arrived in SL because what if they were hard to find shoes/nails/skin appliers for them? Obviously my fears were unfounded, and I am thrilled with my hands and feet. As for the clone issue, I’ve seen photos that I could immediately tell which head they were wearing, but for the most part I think their wearers are savvy enough to find ways to ensure they don’t blend in with the crowd. I would love the opportunity to explore all the options available, but a mesh head isn’t in my budget at the moment. The quality and overall improved look are each undeniable.

If say in common, mesh heads put SL at another level, avatars looks more real and attractive (I don’t say about photographers, cause mesh heads make their life much easier lol).
Not think those heads make everyone look like clones. There are so many skin, makeup appliers you can mix and match really unique look. Thing is how you feel with mesh heads. If you used to wear standard SL avatar or dislike new things, some kind of die-hard, you won’t feel comfortable for sure. Though ppl find ways to look unique even with standard SL faces, right, so what stop u make that with mesh heads? There are only seven notes in music, but so many unique masterpieces composers create 😉
I do like dressing up my ava with mesh heads and can say for sure she looks really different even I meet person using the same mesh head.
It’s a hard work to make all those mesh stuff and I not stop thank designers for them. Also wanted to congratulate u Berry with your awards, you deserve them. We like work you do and please, keep going 🙂

I find them fascinating and enjoy my mesh head even though I wish there were more makeup/tattoo layers available on the head so I could mix and match a little more with less limitations. I don’t think they make everyone look like a clone, if you like your head as is out of the box, then that’s perfectly fine but even before mesh heads people wore the same skins and never looked like clones, it depends on how you present it.

I do wish more people understood that platform technical limitations mean that shape sliders can’t inform mesh worn in the head, except for 2, so the people wanting slider control aren’t going to get it.

    Do I own a mesh head> No.

How do I feel about mesh heads? I think they are amazing! I have demo’s from Catwa and it is Fantastic .. I love the way the lips are so full and the shape is dreamy.

I have wanted to get one.. but the price is just too much for this girl on a budget. Plus it’s the Holidays so I need to buy my family gifts. If I won this contest I would most certainly take lots of photos and share them with Thanks to you…and Catwa!

Happy Holidays to you and yours.. I am a devoted reader, so I know you don’t do Christmas..which makes this especially.. Special!

I have mixed feelings towards mesh heads. I feel like that on others they look nice, but for me it cuts my flow of creativity. I like looking unique, but I am always up to try one that I love. I don’t think I would one daily or very often. I wouldn’t quite say everyone looks like a clone, but it takes away the unique aspect to some extent.

    – I really took some time comparing them cause I´ve been unsure of this clone thing… but once the Genesis Labs and finally the Catwa heads came out, my life with mesh heads began. Meanwhile I don´t understand the clone look problem. There are sooooo many skins of so many creators, so many options with marks, freckles, makeup appliers, lashes and in the end so many people in SL- I don´t think I might meet my “twin” in the future.

As more mesh heads came out I find the variety out there has out-weight the possibility of meeting my twin sister.
I enjoy it for pictures and well for self absorb staring moments but I don’t use that much to be honest. I need some kind of “me” quality to show and while it can be said that hairstyles and clothing choices do that the face to me is still incredibly powerful.
Not against em just nice for that picture when a blank face just doesn’t cut it.

I actually really like them for photography use, and have tried various mesh head demos. But have not found a mesh head which suited my avatar as of yet. I also have yet to demo the Catwa mesh heads. But have viewed a lot of beatifully taken photos, which have showcased all the different mesh heads available in the store. I think its a misconception that everyone looks like a clone with mesh heads. I have not been able to identify a single mesh head right off the bat, by just looking at one worn my someone. And there are a lot of various ways in which each wearer of a mesh head. Would be able to customize their avatar for further individuality.

At first I really didn’t like the idea of losing my “identity”. I started using them for the way they look in portraits and really thats why I’m in sl. I love taking pics. One of my friends pointed out that I never really look the same when they see me anyway. I’m always changing looks, skins, styles etc. You just never know what I’ll look like from day to day. I buy new heads as I get the lindens. Each one has its own look. When they come out with heads that you can change like you can change bodies (and they will) I will be ready for them if I start working with the different brands now.

Hello and what a wonderful thing you are doing here! I do not currently own a mesh head but I have demo’d several over the past few weeks , trying to decide which one to go with! So far Catwa is my favorite, although I’ve been unable to decide on which applier to go with, so winning this gift card would definately motivate me to go forward with deciding! At first I thought for sure that everyone would look like a clone with mesh heads, but that is so far from the truth! There are so many beautiful appliers out there, each one adding something different, making them all unique and beautiful! Good luck to everyone who is entering, this is great! Happy Holidays everyone!

I think most mesh heads, make them all look the same, but depends largely on the skin that we use make-up that put the eyes etc., so I said most, I am currently using a normal head, because like being a little different from others, and from time to time I use my head mesh, but I keep waiting for someone to create a truly thunderous head … and when I said maybe I happen to always wear a head mesh ….

I resisted buying one for the longest time for that exact reason. I was afraid of being a clone. But When Glam Affair came out with their Mona applier with the beautiful freckles I had to get it. There are so many individual ways of making the heads your own, and while I still wait for the day when we have fully changeable faces on mesh heads, I encourage everyone to look for that one applier that is them.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?- I think that it depends on the mesh head and skin that is applied to it. It’s nice when a creator makes it more accessible for others to make appliers because that cuts down on people looking like clones. I’ve seen some that have made theirs stand out from the rest to where you couldn’t even tell what head it was. Very few, but still. All in all, I’d say it’s a mixed bag. I hope that in the future it will be possible to have more customization for them, shape wise that is because everything else is fine for the most part.

I think they can sometimes look similar, but that’s not because of the mesh head. The same happens with skins. Everyone sometimes looks similar, but can change that by their hair, makeup, etc.

I don’t yet! The only reason is because I haven’t found one that looks like ‘me’, and I like the look I created with the standard avi… I’m such a creature of habit! I was close when Pumec released a free gift head, it’s so beautiful, but unfortunately as it’s a gift version there are no appliers for it, so I couldn’t match it with my bod. I hoped they would release it fully and out it on sale, but sadly not.

How do you feel about mesh heads?
The more that are released, the more I warm to them. Some of the more popular ones bore me now as everyone has them, they are very clone-like with little ability to individualise. That said, I do think that they’re beautiful and the work that’s gone into them is incredible. Really, they’re masterpieces! They look stunning in photos and it makes for much simpler editing. I’ve been very much enjoying trying on mesh heads this year, I think maybe 2016 may be the year I finally go mesh, so watch this space!

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
-Honestly now that I’ve been wearing mesh heads, it’s hard to go back to my normal head. I am totally 100% an addicted and I think with all the skin designers making all the appliers and all the options available it gives everyone a different look and I honestly don’t think we all look alike. Like for instance my blog partner we did a post together same head, same skin just different make ups and we totally looked different. It’s all about how you style it and put your personal touch on it.

    3. I’m unsure about mesh heads. To start off with they all looked very samey, but now that there’s more variety and more skin appliers, I think that people can make them look more individual. I am incredibly attached to my regular system face though – I spent time on it back when I joined SL and haven’t changed it since, so I’ve had the same face for about 9 years I think. I think some of my uncertainty stems from the level of attachment I have to a face I’ve had for so long!

I don’t think everyone looks like clones, some look similar yes, but not total look alikes. It would be nice though to have more control of the heads like the normal sl one. But that’ll most likely come with time. I like wearing mine occasionally for pictures or fun. But it never fails, when I take it off I always look weird to myself for a bit after haha.

They look pretty great, and I think that with all the different skins and make ups and addons one can achieve a pretty unique look, even based on the same shape of head. I would actually love to try out more heads, but lack the funds for that. Every time I keep seeing pics with mesh heads I keep thinking how wonderfully smooth they are for photographs, and that the person does a great job of making it their own look.

As for the clone part, well there is not such a huge variety of heads yet to cover the thousands of sl users and make them unique but there are so many skins, makeup add-ons and stuff that can make a huge difference.

Do you own a mesh head? Yes, several.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I was reluctant at first because I truly did not like the look of the LeLutka heads. Genesis finally intrigued me with free group gifts (got in before the 250L join fee) and faces that I didn’t see on every blog page. I have several of the gift heads, a couple gacha heads, plus one for which I paid full price. I wear the one I purchased all of the time, plus I purchased additional eye and lip make-up packs for it so I’m constantly changing configurations.

I do not see myself coming and going which seems to be everyone’s big fear. Make-up and hair customizes the look so that I’m not a clone!

At some point, I’m going to try Catwa as all of the different designers making appliers are creating truly unique faces.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

    – I love them. At first, I was skeptical as I am sure most were/are, but as more and more heads are created and more and more skin designers create appliers, you really can create a unique look.

Using the LeLutka head w/ Glam Affair appliers, I look as close I can to my “original face” because I too, am definitely attached! But I also love to experiment, I own Logo and Anime heads too. I’m pretty sure I’ll purchase a Catwa head in the near future!

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I feel they can lead to a cloned look if one does not add their own flare to them. But with as diverse as SL is, it is so easy to not look cookie cutter.

  • Kayleigh Korhonen

Hi! I’m Kayleigh Korhonen, and I don’t currently own a Mesh head. I have mixed feelings about Mesh heads; I don’t think at the moment there are enough to maintain the variety that we currently see with the system head, but I do like the higher quality of Mesh body parts in general, so I’d probably like a Mesh head someday. I think the tipping point will either be that I stumble upon a head which is very close to my system head’s proportions, or we get “bones” which fit Mesh heads to the SL sliders — or some other means of customizing the shape and proportions; until then, I have a lot of other places to spend the big money that Mesh heads cost.

I don’t wear mine yet, not really. I prefer a Pacific Islander/African look which I’ve had since I rezzed in 2007. I was hoping the Catwa would be the most friendly towards a non-anglo look but haven’t been happy enough to leave my “system” face behind. What keeps tempting me are the expressions and the temptation to play with them.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I personally feel the mesh heads make a few things a lot easier and a lot more fun. Especially when doing photos. the logo head alone has many different facial options which to me just make the photos. you can create a photo alone stand out with the various options given. I guess that really depends. I know a lot of people who all look the same. however, there are some that go to the extent of making their own appliers for the mesh heads to create a whole different look. its a little more work, but at the end results, you wont look much like a clone.

  • What is your full Second Life name? VioletCrush Bravin

Do you own a mesh head? I do from LeLutka and I seem to be addicted to them

How do you feel about mesh heads? I do like mesh heads and there are some designers that have beautiful mesh heads. It would be impossible to own all of the beautiful heads but they are addicting and can actually define as well as help you create the look you want for your avatar. As an enhancement they are lovely. Evens skin tones out and fixes imperfections that the system heads can sometimes have in various shadows and effects.

Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? Each person has their own individual style. While it is possible for two avi’s to have similar tastes I think you can resemble another avatar but it is hard to be exact. I have both my main avatars identical with one another as their names are the same except one is a legacy name the other is a resident name but I have been known to blog from both girls so they would need to have the same looks. The only difference is the mesh bodies one is Belleza the other is Maiterya and both have the LeLutka brand head. So you can look like a clone if you choose to but I don’t know many who’d want to have another’s identity, its much more fun being you and letting your inner person shine through your avatar.

I will attempt to reblog this on my blog and send it out on my twitter as well as my facebook.

3.How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? Right now with the current popular mesh heads I do think some avatars are starting to look more and more alike are more people get them, although I’ve seen some creative people somehow make them appear unique possibly with hair styles, etc. but I think they look great and I love the newer expression options. When more come out there most likely will be less of this again as people chose different styles and then style them up differently as with any new product many people run to buy.

I think that yes there is a little clonishness going on but the variety of appliers and make up options around helps you keep some uniqueness. At the end of the day I feel like your avatar is a reflection of your uniqueness and dressing them up and making them as personalized as possible makes that possible. And even if you look like 100 other people it’s your personality that shines thru in the end!

I personally don’t wear them because I like the look of my face too much. I don’t mind them on other people. I do like all the different facial expressions though. I think a lot of the looks people are coming up with are making them unique. I mainly buy them for blogging from time to time and tests for cosmetics. I love the realism it adds to my avatar. The crisp details, the lovely curve of the lips, the smooth line of the nose and the depth of the eyes.

Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
Some do tend to make everyone look a bit alike, while others somehow make you look completely different even when wearing the same skin and such as a friend.
It took me awhile to find just the right head, skin and makeup combo to still feel like me when I wore it. That was my biggest issue with the heads, I felt like I had lost my identity, but, with time, patience and a lot of trying, failing and trying again, I finally got just the right combo to where now when I look at my avatar I see me, I feel like me and it’s like coming home.
Funny how your avatars face can do that…become such an important part of your identity in SL, but then I am Stormm and is Stormm is me and the head, well it just helps make it all feel that much closer to real.
I wouldn’t be caught without my mesh head now or my mesh body for that matter. They have become a part of creating what I would be if I could only close my eyes, make a wish and become the pretty girl I always wanted to be in RL, but never really had a chance to be until I found Second life and all these wonderful bits to pull it all together.

Actually I do have Logo’s Alex mesh head. It’s my first and only so far.

At first I didn’t want to jump on the mesh head train due to the fear of looking like everyone else ( especially when they first came out and everyone was buying the same ones. ) But now that I own a mesh head, I’m loving that I can take cleaner close up photos as well as closing my eyes. I don’t know why but I love doing closed eyes photos. It would be fun if I could blog more make up but I understand not everyone is in love with doing omega appliers, but it’s okay to each is own. I adore mesh heads now, I’ve been converted xD lol

I am starting to get more interested in the mesh heads. I love seeing the pictures taken with them in blogs. I am a huge SL blog fan and follow lots of them so I am noticing more people using them. I love the face gestures! Don’t think they all look the same as more and more creators are making appliers for the faces and you can customize a bit more now. ^.^

TMP female classic, TMP male classic (on an alt)

Filthy Skin – my first mesh head and one of the first in SL, store is closed.

Might be that I have some more.

I fall for new mesh heads because they are more and more awesome. But the alts who get a mesh head stay in them.
If I win, I will use it on a male head. I so wish for an asian male head! I hope Catwa can tinker a bit with the first and release a few more.

I think they are so many skin options and and stylings such as makeup, eye color, hair, lashes that allow me/ as well as others to look unique. I actually have the Stella head from lelutka and u love it . It provides a great base for a variety of appliers

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I really like mesh heads and the options that have been made available to optimize their usage and the personalization of them in many ways. However, I do not like that some people see only eyeballs as the head doesn’t rez, etc. Frustration easily sets in when the mesh won’d fully render for others so your work in making it “you” doesn’t do anything for you.

How do you feel about mesh heads? They are superior to what SL sliders can offer and with new functions like emotions, separate layers of makeup applications, applier compatibility, and eye/lash sync blink they surpass what I can do with a standard head.
Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I’ve used them now since Logo first introduced theirs, and wore a mesh petite head prior to that, so for many many years. I don’t think that they make us look like clones, and if anything they will continue to become more diverse with fantasy skin appliers. What does tend to make us look like clones though (that nobody mentions) is when many of us are all hitting the same big sales, the same big hair makers, and the same fashion trends.

Do you own a mesh head? No. I worked too hard to get Em’s head perfect as it is. And I don’t want to look like everyone else. I have a great deal of difficulty dealing with a mesh body. It’s a leaning curve, I guess.
How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I think the mesh heads do look clonish (new word). I wish to be unique. Also, a mesh body is a huge hassle for me. I can only imagine what a hassle a mesh head would be! I don’t believe there is a way to use all of my non-mesh things with mesh bodies and heads. Wish there was.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?- In the beginning, I was very much against mesh heads, thinking that everyone looked like a clone of one another. But as time went on and after finally trying one myself and with all of the different skin options; I can saw that I no longer believe everyone looks like clones.

I did have some Gacha mesh heads but they were so ugly I deleted them. I do won a demo version of the Catwa head to play with while I make up my mind. Expense of buying a mesh head has also meant I cannot afford to buy them.

3.How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

Depending on the maker of the mesh heads. I am 50/50 in my opinion of mesh heads. I have seen Gacha mesh heads and they are so ugly. I wish my friends wouldn’t use them. The other issue is the stoned/wooden look, they have no expression. The Catwa mesh head is gorgeous and yes I can see individuality rather than cloning happening there. I read your blogs avidly to learn more about mesh heads. I can see through your blogs that you can indeed make mesh heads individual. I am just scared of losing the unique face with my avatar. I have had fun playing with the demos and seeing what I can do with the mesh heads. It would be awesome to win a Catwa head as it is out of my price range and I am currently saving to go overseas to see my grand-children and then meet my SL partner in real life.

How do you feel about mesh heads?Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?-I think in the very beginning there was a clone prob, cause we had not so many creators offering heads, right now spending some money and a lot of time it’s quite easy to have a unique look /in RL we can sometimes meet people having similar face features, but the hairs, style, makeup making the difference/
In SL it surely takes time to find a proper one and it will take more time if there will be more mesh head creators- but it’s a part of fun that SL offers)
I think with a mesh head it’s a love story -you see the one ,trying it on and understand that it’s how you want to look like. Once you involved in this process-you can’t stop.

I think I have demo’d every mesh head on the market since they appeared. I didn’t care for most of them, and was absolutely worried that we would all walk around looking like clones. However, I’ve seen people with them and I think as they gain popularity, more customization options are becoming available. Just as with my default head, a lot of my look had to do with the skin I chose. I purchased 2 mesh heads before I finally settled on Catwa, and I’ve found several skins that make my av look different.

How do you feel about mesh heads?
I have never tried a mesh head, yet. Back in 2008, I worked hard on my SL face and shape in SL, and since then I have mostly maintained the same “me” since, except for scaling down my body from old SL giant size and adjusting it to fit standard sizing. I have seen others with meshheads that look ridiculous or like masks, and I didn’t want to look like that. I suppose if found a mesh head that made me look “better, but not different” I might try it.

Do you own a mesh head? Yes, I recently purchased a Logo mesh head, but I haven’t yet worn it in public. I am still getting used to how it looks on me.

How do you feel about mesh heads? I have mixed feelings about them. I purposely chose one that is not as popular (Chloe rather than Alex) because I do think that many of the people wearing mesh heads look like clones (this seems to be especially true of the Lelutka heads for some reason). I do like my mesh head, but so far it doesn’t feel like “me” – maybe I am too married to my avatar’s current look.

    3. How do you feel about mesh heads?
I used to be very skeptical about mesh heads and mesh body parts in general. As an SL oldie I think I’ve become one that likes my current face shape so for me it’s more about finding one that looks more like “B” without altering myself too much. I’ve tried many demos but the only one I’ve found that kinda looks like “Bcreative 2.0” which happens to be from Catwa. I used to think that Mesh heads would make everyone a mesh clone of a certain brand of body parts but I’ve noticed friends I know have the same head I was looking. They can look different if you spend time to tweak them how you like and a different/good skin can make all the difference.
Some of us love to play dressup and alter ourselves completely but there are a few of us that love our look and it takes awhile for us to warm up on such new things. I might just have to treat myself to that Catwa head for Christmas since I’m probably on Santa’s naughty list.

Love seeing Amazing creations from creators! Only thing I’m picky On is the skin for most of these mesh heads are either too much highlight, Or the shading is off from the face and neck area IMO. It’s Also why I’ve held off On purchasing these mesh heads. As far as others claiming mesh heads look like Clones of one another is just ones Personal opinion. In my opinion the standerd sl avatars look the same to me. Lol but when you think about it really a lot of us in RL do resemble other people… So yeah. I love mesh heads! I’m just holding out till Either TMP updates with the heads to emote gestures, or till I find a skin worth having with these amazing looking mesh heads. ✌

I’m still having a hard time getting used to them but, partly thanks to your blog, I’m becoming more adventurous and trying them with different appliers. From what I can see, we don’t all look like clones. People work quite hard to make them unique. But I too am anxious when the mesh heads are as flexible as the mesh bodies.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

When Slink released the Visage, I had no desire to purchase one, as I truly felt everyone would be a ‘clone’. A moderator in the Slink group began to chat with me in IMs and she and her sister came to visit so I could see two ‘styles’ of the same head. They both wore the Emma head, but I was blown away by just how different they actually looked. Through them, I learned just how makeup (appliers) and hair (style, as well as color) can really make each one individual. I purchased my first head that day. I was in line at Lelutka when the first three were released, and there again when the second set were released. I was a bit slow to purchase Catwa, simply because of the price and I was so attached (no pun intended) to my Lelutkas. I did come around, however, and purchased Catwa’s Jessica. I don’t wear my Slink Visage much anymore (though I should probably check for updates now that I think of it), but I am never without one of my mesh heads on my avatar. I have a male avatar that I set up with mesh, and as soon as I have saved enough (unless I happen to win the gift card), I will most likely be picking up the Catwa male head.

I actually was resistant to mesh heads for that very reason, feeling like we’d all look like clones. Though after your article on the subject I decided to try some demos. Though, there ones that were out at the time didn’t really impress me. When the Catwa head came out, I tried it, and realized that I could make a slight change in certain parts by maxing out the sliders in the shape. So I bought Catwa Jessica head and haven’t looked back. I also enjoy creating makeups, and I’m currently working on some penciled eyebrows.

I’m mostly male avi, but i play around matching different mesh head with different bodies and using different skin appliers to get a different result.. i could use a female mesh head skin applier to match with my male mesh body… added with a touch of make-up or added a mesh beard.. all these will make me look different from other avi if the use the same mesh head.. and dressing them up is so fun… i always enjoy that… I am seriously considering on the latest Catwa’s Jackson mesh head now that i saw the review from You. Thank You StrawberrySingh so much. I learnt and get to know so much more from your wonderful blog.

I think these days with all the appliers available (especially for Catwa)that you can individualize yourself quite well — maybe not as much as the traditional sliders but I LOOOOOVE not having to touch up those odd places like around the nose where pretty much no skin fits perfectly on anyone (even the shapes that come with some skins :D)

    3. How do you feel about them? The hard part, is every person you meet with mesh heads you get different answers, ones that say they have mountains of mesh heads and others that have a small amount from two to three. In my experience, I get the new mesh heads, play with them, hate them, and end up getting bored of them fast. I felt empty when I kept seeing the blank stare, the dead eyes, and the perfect face. Then came along the catwa mesh head. I was ready to quit mesh heads till I found this one. The catwa did something I had never seen before. She spoke, she smiles, she laughed, and talked when I talked. I found the skin for it, and soon enough I fell in love with it. I found things to make it unique to me after that first smile, because I finally found a mesh head that spoke to my heart. I love the gestures to the point I walk around playing her smile on a loop as I talk. Its natural easy and friendly. And every time I log in, I feel like she’s me deep down. Now, the hard part is making it unique. I found hidden gems all around me to make her my own. That’s the part no one takes time for, is to make it their own, they have to look harder. Once you have that, no one will ever be a copy of you. 🙂

I enjoy dressing up my avatar, and have been using mesh heads for like 3 years and just adore them. I think one of my favorite times, is when people will tell me that everyone with a mesh head looks the same, I then tell them I am wearing a mesh head, and they are taken back a bit. Plus now that there are skin appliers, the combinations to be more unique skyrocketed.

When they first came out, I was worried that we would all start to look the same, but there are so many options now to choose from, and they’re so much fun to play with! At this point, I think people have to be either too lazy to change their features (Something I am sometimes guilty of!) or really try to look alike to get that clone couture appearance.

At first I wasn’t too keen on trying them as they really did seem too similar to each other. I started gaining more interest in them once more variety and options became available for them such as facial expressions, makeup and news skin appliers! I feel now that there is more ways to change up your look more people might be willing to give mesh heads a try 🙂

I never quite understood the clone thing, to be honest. The basic SL features limit creativity tremendously (unless you’re willing to ere on the extreme side of the sliders); I’ve been left red-faced in the past having mistaken one person for another simply because their legacy features are… er… pretty much the same. I can definitely understand ‘I don’t feel like myself,’ but then again, I get the same feeling whenever I tweak my av. So… I like ’em. I’ve only owned Genesis thus far, so, and I’ve been dithering something awful about picking another up. (Oh, gads! The commitment! )

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I feel a mesh head, if you can customize them, can be a great asset. It can give your avatar more expressiveness and life over having a system head. I love dressing up my avatar in cute outfits, and various looks since I am always looking for something new. I don’t think that having a mesh head will make you look like a clone, but from what I am understanding, the more the developers work and design them, the more individualized they will become.

I do not own a mesh head yet but I have been looking into switching from a classic body and head to a mesh body and head. I have noticed that there are many options for mesh bodies and heads for females but not half as many for males, unfortunately. I am hoping that will soon change.

    3. How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

The mesh bodies seem to have more sliders and options than the mesh heads do. The mesh heads seem a lot more static, to me. However, I like where Catwa is going with their mesh heads.

Being a nonhuman, vampiric avatar, I am hoping and waiting to see if they will create a male version of their Vampire Anne head. I am also hoping that Slink will come out with some male mesh heads soon as well. I love the Mesh Project bodies and head, but they are WAY too expensive, in comparison with other mesh body and head creators.

As far as what I think about their appearance in regards to “making you look like everyone else…” To an extent, I believe that they do because you can’t customize your face the way that you can with a classic avatar head. I really wish that you could.

Although, with some mesh heads, like Catwa, you have the option to stretch it out, length wise, and to resize the overall size and shape of the head, as well as eye positioning. And, of course, there are always the different looks that you get from various skins, hair styles, ears, etc.

So, overall, I would say that it is a tossup. While you have more slider options with the classic avatar head, the mesh heads are much more realistic looking (in my opinion) and you always have the different skin, ears, hair, etc. option with them.

I think that is why I like the Catwa heads the best for functionality purposes, so far. Because you have the most slider control with them.

But after trying the Jessica head, I realized that hair, skin and shape make all the difference. I know three other girls with the same head and none of us look alike. I’m truly thrilled with the mesh body revolution! It’s made my sl blogging so much easier!

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I think that SL has a lot of options for everyone to customize the way they look. With a little effort, no one has to look like anyone else. The mesh heads are beautiful and they show how far we’ve come from the original SL avatars. New heads, hairstyles, and body shapes make it so fun to change the way your avi looks.

    – I love my analogue head, which I have been using since 2008. It’s hard to change (emotionally) because it’s part of me as you cannot easily change your head in RL. But on the other hand, it’s okay to change to anything you like since it’s SL, dream world. You can do whatever you like in SL. So if I find a mesh head I really like, then I will go for it.

I love the smoothness of mesh heads and the quality facial expressions you are able to demonstrate. Initially I did feel mesh heads were limiting because there were so few options but I feel that head creators as well as skin and enhancement creators are doing more and more to make this not be true. It is discouraging sometimes however to invest so much into your character and to find someone who looks just like you. It seems though that more options are being made available and that as mesh head creation continues it will become a thing of the past.

How do you feel about mesh heads? I would be lost without my mesh head now. I feel that you can make them a little more your own but I find it hard to get some appliers to work unless its the whole face you are buying. eg. a lip applier from one store and some eye shadow from another even if they say they are made for your particular mesh head. I think that second life has made many advancements since I began almost 10 years ago and even though I may play online a lot less of the time, I still really enjoy playing dress up and fantasy looks with my avatar and chatting with all the international friends. I feel that if mesh had not come into SL I would have probably left completely by now. So yes I am a mush-head for mesh heads and bodies lol 🙂

I am relatively new to mesh heads. I resisted a while, but I love mine now. I think if you wore the head right out of the box, it might result in too many clothes. I think with the makeup, skin, appliers, etc. that’s generally not the case. I LOVE the expressions and making myself less mannequin like 🙂

I’m still a bit on the fence about them, so far Catwa’s Jessica is the only one I’ve connected to in demo. I love the ability to emote and to blink 🙂 Those things by themselves make it worth exploring. I have no worry about everyone looking identical because I trust that sooner or later, there will be more and more mesh head options and maybe someday we will have more versatility personalizing our mouth, nose etc. The innovative creators in SL are what keep me logging in 🙂

Mesh heads: My photography alt has two, both associated with the Eve body, and she’s on more than me these days. Her heads don’t have any emoting abilities right now, so the static expression often means she goes back to wearing the system head. I don’t have a mesh head. I’ve tried a couple of demos but they didn’t suit me. Would definitely like to get one, certainly one I feel suits me. The mesh heads my alt has so far have not been so different from other owners, though it gets better when she changes her hair colour radically, adds freckles, etc. But that’s not her usual look. So she only wears that look for particular photo projects.

I understand people would say it feels like a clone of one another but in my opinion you can alter them in various ways to be just as unique as you want to be. With all the makeup, hair & accessory options and a bit of imagination, I don’t think they are clone-like at all. There is also enough adjustment to change the actual shape of the head for a bit more individuality. They photograph beautifully with less touchup.

Okay, I will say it. Mesh heads used to FREAK me out! When they hit the shelves, I took one look and it was a hard ‘nope.’ Since then, SL creators have done a fantastic job of offering VARIETY! That is key. There are tons of customization features these days which have been the biggest factors in swaying me. Aside from this even, it can be daunting to create an SL standard face to your liking with realistic proportions and be as sexy or quirky as you’d wish. I don’t think that the mesh heads make people look like clones. As long as you put as much of “yourself” into your avatar as possible, no one will look exactly alike.

    3) you know i resisted mesh heads for a long time because i just thought and i still do feel to an extent that it’s harder to get a unique look with them… things i want to change such as say depth of chin or the bridge of the nose or the width of the nose are much much harder to adjust on a head, but on the other hand, (famous last words) I do think the textures on the head are so much more crisp and clear that i love that experience.

There is such a wide variety of mesh heads to choose from now that I think it is relatively easy to get an individual look. That said though, there is still not a wide enough spectrum of non-anglo looks available. Until [LOGO]Alex though I rarely wore my mesh head at all, but with the customisability of Alex it is so easy to get an individual look, and one that is much closer to my own. I’m really hoping that more designers go the route of being 100% OMEGA compatible so it becomes even easier to mix/match and build some amazing unique looks. The one head I would like to get at the moment is the Catwa one, but my budget just refuses to stretch that far at the present time…maybe sometime next year.

Catwa said she was planning some larger eye shapes soon so I’m hoping to find something I like. I think they look amazing in world and photograph like a dream. People dress them up so different that it’s hard to look too clone like but I don’t really spend THAT much time looking directly at people’s faces.

I’m not a big fan. I’ve used my Lelutka a few times for pictures and even for RP character, but I reverted back to my own SL head quickly. I’ve tried a lot of demos, but most of the heads are just not me. Many have a way too sour expression, or they’re a way too cute, my own SL head just looks better to me. I’m also a fan of a certain skin store, but they make appliers only to a few brands, so I gotta stick with heads that work with those skins, and my fave make up store doesn’t make appliers yet at all.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

Well, I had wanted a mesh head ever since Tsg had released her heads because they were so cute. However, I didn’t like that I would be stuck with just the one skin. I have been a big fan of skin designers (much more than jewelry or clothing or shoes) in Second Life and changing my skin is most important to me.

So when I saw that LOGO was updating to allow Omega appliers and two of my favorite skin designers had already made appliers for it, I couldn’t resist. Personally, I don’t care if I’m in a room of avatars that all look like me. I dress up my “doll” the way that I want it to look. I change it so often that I rarely look like anyone else for very long anyway. Sometimes I buy things and hold onto them for a little while before wearing them too. (That way no one else freaks out that we’re wearing the same new jacket from Boom) ^^

About mesh heads in general? Much like I feel about any product there is. There are ones I like, ones I don’t. I do not, though, think they make everyone look like a clone. You can change their shape – though that’s limited, of course – and there are oodles of appliers for the main ones. Add all the different hairs out there, and you’ve got infinite combinations of looks.
And they make photography without Photoshop so much easier!

Unfortunately after winning it and trying to on, adjusting the sliders more and such I just felt that the head wasn’t my style even though I did like it on the model. I have also tried out other heads from Catwa and Lelutka and I think they are gorgeous! How do you feel about them, mesh heads are pretty great. Like everything they can be customised even if just a little. Different skins make them look a little more personal then even more when used with make up. I love the smooth appearance of them and how quirky they can look.

How do you feel about mesh heads? They are all cute and have different styles. Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? No not really. It’s how you wear them that make them look unique. Different skin and make up appliers…adjustments..everyone can look unique.

How do I feel about mesh heads: I’m intrigued. (context: guy avatars here) The situation with skins for mesh bodies and heads is still in so much flux that it’s difficult to get the look I really want. Some head-makers have lovely heads and faces but I really don’t like their bodies. Some of the nicest skins are still TMP only, and I don’t have any interest in getting involved with TMP products. Animations I’m meh about. A couple of the faces are kind of nice, but I think most of the emotion animations are creepy.

First i was very skeptical and i tried the heads and the skins, mix match until i found the closest to my “original face “. Honestly can’t wait when i can edit the mesh heads i guess that will be the next big thing. In fact i can recognize the heads which is which , but it is a great fun to create a unique look.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I personally have not found one I can wear on a daily basis. I think they are gorgeous and work for a lot of people wonderfully, but I can’t part with all my tattoo layers and the custom shapes I make. I love being unique and making shapes my own, while you can look very different then other’s using the heads, it’s just not the same to me. Maybe one day someone will make a mesh head that you can change the shape of, like the mesh bodies! That would be ideal!

I have purchased only one head in all SL with NEA and I really liked how detailed and well animated it was. I moved back on to a regular after a while because the options with it were very slim. Now I hear about all the different options and heads available so changing them up is a big plus. My feelings are if they give you the ability to look different then others with the same head then I’m an all for it girl.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? Originally, I was concerned I’d lose my unique look. While I was not able to replicate the look I’d had for years, I am pleased with the adoption of a mesh head. Relative to looking like a clone, my SL Partner has the same head and we look entirely different. Choices of skin and make up along with minor tweaks to the head shape result in a look that is very much not a clone.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? —> One of the reasons that I still don’t own a mesh head is because I love my avi’s face. I’m sure sooner or later we are going to have more options with them, or fitted mesh or let’s see!!! (LL has announced that sooner we are going to have extra bones on our avi, so we are going to have more possibilities!!)

I must admit that I still don’t have any mesh body for the same reason… I cannot find any that I want to use or I see too many problems with the Alpha System (they need to improve it still a bit more…)

I think skins make a huge difference between the different heads, little things like adding freckles on top of skins etc makes it more individual, also with more people now making mesh heads it gives better flexibility. I hope to see more male mesh heads out there and the new one from Catwa is something I am thinking of getting for my blogging.

Do you own a mesh head? Yes. I own Stella from Lelutka, that I wear most often if I’m wearing one.

How do you feel about mesh heads? I was one of the die-hards who felt like people who were wearing them looked like clones. I always swore I would never get one until they had the ability to be adjusted and customized more with the facial sliders. (At this time, I DID recognize that was something lacking in SL and not the fault of the creators in any way.) However, when Glam Affair released their Dis de los Muertos makeups at Collabor88, I fell heels over head in love. And they were only Lelutka appliers. So I invested in the Stella head, and honestly? One of the best investments I’ve ever made, even if I don’t wear it all the time. It IS possible to make it look unique to you, and I absolutely love the smooth clean lines when taking photos.

Do you own a mesh head? I own several mesh heads–LeLutka Stella, and Aria. I also own Annie by Catwa. I’m also thinking about getting the Logo mesh head.

How do you feel about mesh heads? I think mesh heads are a wonderful option to customize your avatar. It’s wonderful to have those options. However, they’re not for everyone. Some people don’t like the limitations of customizing the shape of the face. I wish they had more options to change certain aspects of the face. Despite the limitations, I love photographing them. They are so beautiful in photos. I have mixed feelings, but overall I’m happy with them. Maybe one day, we will have a little more freedom to control the appearance of the face.

Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

They do tend to make everyone look alike. There is no denying it. But, I do enjoy using my mesh head. I think that using certain appliers with the mesh head can give it a unique look. For example, Izzie’s sells moles, which is one way to make your avatar a little bit different than everyone else. It’s all in how you think about the mesh head. Appliers are a wonderful tool–makeup, moles, wrinkles, etc. Overall, mesh heads are great to make the features a bit smoother in a photo. They are also very beautiful—yet beauty is very subjective to each individual person. It has some cons, but every avatar and skin will have some type of con. I think the pros of a mesh head over ride any con. They’re not for everyone, which is fine. It’s part of the beauty of second life. You the individual decide what you want to do with the appearance of your avatar–so options are wonderful. This is just my personal opinion.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?
I’ve had those thoughts before when I used to have just a normal head, but honestly after I have worn it, it made me feel more like myself. I’ve been trying to find some way to look as my ethnicity in real life and well maybe for me, normal heads and skins couldn’t really meet it. Especially when I take photos and certain windlights just don’t mend well with the normal heads. For a moment my mesh head did kinda change my way of style in Secondlife. It made me dress my avatar more like me in real life. Honestly it has made me feel more like myself after I bought a mesh head. I’ve put a lot of thinking towards it cause honestly unlike other people in Secondlife who can put up money for as long as they want to, I’m one of those people that isn’t really that well financially. It may sound weird and silly, but I’ve grown some sentimental values with this mesh head, cause it made me feel like I’ve found myself inworld. 🙂

Do you own a mesh head? – Yes! I own all Lelutka, Logo, and one of Catwa. My favorite so far is the Catwa, because of the animated facial expressions.. so your face can be in constant motion. It keeps things interesting. I also love that you can use different appliers for completely diverse looks

How do you feel about mesh heads? I love them. I do have an avatar that does not wear a mesh head, because she has a very distinct “look” about her that isn’t sufficiently captured by another’s vision. However, for my other two girls, I love the smoothness of features, and just how pretty mesh heads are. And now that animations are on the scene, I think they are even more lifelike. I don’t feel like a clone because, although I can’t customize with sliders, I am able to customize through skin choice, makeups, eyelashes, hair and fashion choices. Sure, I might be able to tell what maker or sometimes what model a certain mesh head is, but they look different on everyone.

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

I love the mesh heads for many of the same reasons expressed by others… but mostly the smoothness and how they photograph. You can most definitely lose your identity or uniqueness if you apply the same skin as the next person. So many creators however are making incredible appliers that doesn’t make you look like that girl next door and cosmetics which can be mixed and match to achieve you own look. Making small tweaks to your head shape can finish that customized look. No going back for me, that’s for sure. Besides, my hubby said NO lol. He loved my original one that I wore for the longest time until my switch and its like he fell in love all over again with me. The same sass and uniqueness I once achieved continues with my new one. Definitely a huge fan ♥

I don’t think that they limit you to one look, with right skin applier and make up applier you can totally change the look. I have to say I am a huge advocate for mesh head/bodies and the like. I love them and tend to be a collector of them, lolol. I don’t feel like they make everyone look like a clone at all. In fact I rather enjoy seeing the various looks people put together using them. There are loads of designers putting out new skins and makeups for them so we can all create our own perfect looks. A few of my friends have heads as well and even same skin I prefer to wear the majority of the time and I think we all look unique from one another. For myself I feel it is how we each put our own spin on them that sets us apart from looking the same. From tweaking the couple sliders we can, to which makeups, hair and accessories we choose. I honestly cannot wait to see what else pops up because so many are really showing off some amazing creativity in this area. I just love it. ♥

Firstly I just thought “To expensive no way!!”, but then after looking into the quality of some items, they totally just seem worth it to me. They look so fresh, new-aged and clean! Everyone has the chance to use different skins and makeups so looking alike isn’t really a problem. The further we progress and develop, the more unique and customizable things will become I’m sure of it! I really like to play with demos and make myself look all fancy with the makeups and stuff. Then I’ll take a photo and edit out the demo lines and signs. All in good fun! Have a good holiday season!

I think when the mesh heads first came out I didn’t think they would be for me. I did wonder if we would all look like clones. But now with all the different styled heads available and so many different appliers, I think you can create a look that is slightly different to another. I think the key to making yourself different is using different appliers and make up and adding the little features.

My inner battle with these heads at the moment, is that I am so used to my face shape.. and wearing these heads I just don’t feel like ‘me’. But I think its just something I need to get used to.

A mesh head to me is like a completely different personality. SL is about being whatever you want at any giving point and I feel each individual head allows you to be someone different. I feel like someone in the same skin and head can look alike, but it is also how you accessorize and dress that makes an avatar an individual. I personally love the time I spend mix and matching skins and heads. The combinations are becoming endless!

I actually prefer my face over any mesh head I’ve tried on so far, but I will admit to admiring others faces. I haven’t really noticed that there is a major amount of cloning going on….there are just too many variations in skins coupled with all of the adjustments in the heads themselves. I will also admit to having entirely too much fun playing with all of the makeup and expressions that come with the heads…that seems to be half the fun.

How do you feel about mesh heads? I am just not happy with them.

Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? I do feel they are clones. I might like them better if I could modify them like you can the mesh bodies.

No, so far I haven’t ventured into buying a mesh head..YET.

I think that they are beautiful, especially in close-ups and how they show so much expression, but unfortunately, they are not affordable for me.

I know that when i go out and about in sl, i HAVE noticed that many of the girls with the mesh heads, tend to have some sort of similar look. I especially notice this with the male avatars, so far.

I am ready to take the plunge and join the ranks of people who have a mesh head!

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them?

At first I thought “why would I want to be a clone?” Now I see how much you can do with them to make yourself different from all the rest. Between skin appliers, eyes, eyebrows, etc it would be a joy to play dress up with my avatar.

  • OMG, I can’t believe O_O I mean I’m not lucky in giveaways at all lol. Thank you so so much, I’m truly happy to have such gifts for Christmas. Be available to have pic you will make, it’s really great gift for me, Berry. Much hugs <3 Thanks again (woohooo, making Gangnam dance around my table)

  • What is your full Second Life name? – Mireille Jenvieve

Do you own a mesh head? – Welll…yes – and no. What I mean is that I have gotten several DEMOS, but have not yet played with them enough to make a decision about them. I see others wearing them (such as you, Berry) and looking absolutely fabulous…so there is definitely at least one in my future. I’ll be popping round to Catwa to try theirs this weekend!

How do you feel about mesh heads? Do you feel they make everyone look like a clone or do you enjoy dressing up your avatar with them? – I once thought they were une idée terrible, but now I think perhaps they may simply be a bit of a challenge, and one worth taking on. I’ve seen people looking similarly AND quite different, so this encourages me to give it a go. I love to look like Mireille, as I continue to perfect her look and even change it slightly at times. So…here we go!

    Thank you!

I love mesh heads and in no way do I agree with they make everyone look alike. Since you can tweek your face there is no reason to look like someone else.
