Syrian Refugee Crisis Fundraiser in Second Life

can you feel my pain

Today was a special holiday for muslims around the world. The name of the holiday was Eid al-Adha and the story behind this Eid revolves around Abraham and his great sacrifice. Yes, the same Abraham that can be found in the Bible and Torah. Interesting how if you read all three of these religious books: The Quran, The Bible and The Torah, you will find many similarities in them but for some reason the world is full of so much conflict mostly in the name of religion. It’s frustrating and heartbreaking to see and makes you wonder if your contribution to the world is enough or will make any kind of difference. Will people still judge you for your beliefs and practices?

What is heartwarming to see is how the world is coming together to help the Syrian refugees in this devastating time. If you are not familiar with the plight and situation of the Syrian people, I suggest reading the wiki page to get the gist of it. For most of us abroad, we are sitting in the comfort of our homes wondering how we can help. There are several ways you can donate your time, money and food. I know my local mosque is having us bring in any food, clothing and other necessities for refugees coming into our State. Contact your local Churches or Mosques and see if they are doing anything similar. You can also donate money to a number of charities, one of which is the World Food Programme.

Syrian Refugee Crisis

In Second Life, resident Seductive Dreamscape has organized a Refugee Crisis Fundraiser which you can donate to by visiting the kiosk inworld and purchasing the clothing designed especially for this fundraiser and/or also picking up a kiosk of your own to put on your sim to spread the word about this fundraiser. All proceeds from the clothing will go to the World Food Programme.

The clothing that was specifically made for this fundraiser displays the original artwork of resident Crumbles Idlemind and was created by content creator Ethereal Faerye. I purchased a hoodie and this tank but there are also other styles of clothing available for both men and women. Take the SLurl to the kiosk to donate now.

Here is a powerful video showing a second a day video of a child and what war does to her: https://youtu.be/RBQ-IoHfimQ

Please donate and share your love and compassion. <3

UPDATE! John Oliver summed it up so beautifully that I have to share this here. Please watch and share this video, so many important points! https://youtu.be/umqvYhb3wf4
