My Favorite Mesh Eyelashes
I saw a teaser of these eyelashes on flickr a few days ago and have been anxiously waiting for their release. I just noticed this morning that they were finally released. The eyelashes are from Mon Cheri and available inworld and on marketplace for L$299. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice a demo for them (UPDATE: see designer’s comments below, she has put out a demo now), however I can tell you that it took me less than 5 minutes to fit these. I am in a rush today so wanted to get this post out before I left for the day. I will come back and spend more time trying to fit them even better. They are very easy to use, in fact Freya Olivieri has an excellent fitting manual at this link. They come in 3 different styles, are modify and tintable in many colors. Here is a picture of the HUD they come with from Freya’s flickr so you can see all of the different options you get with them.
They are mesh alpha lashes so they have a beautiful feathery look, unlike other mesh lashes that look like a glob when you zoom out. When I posted the teaser of these lashes on different social networks earlier this week, I noticed a few people had some questions so I thought I would address them here in case others had the same.
- Do mesh eyelashes move with the eyes when you look around and blink? No, they don’t move, they are static. There is no way to attach items to the eyelids so when you blink they stay in the same spot. So if you are trying to take a closed eye picture, I suggest you remove them before doing so.
- Why don’t mesh eyelashes come rigged so they will move and blink along with the eyes? Again, since there is no way to attach things to the eyelids, this would not be possible. Also, if mesh eyelashes came rigged, that means they would be no modify and we would be unable to position and edit them properly to fit our individual eyes.

Oooh, this looks awesome already. I do need to update my lashes. I might wait til you do a further write up on this.
The kicker is not actually that you can’t attach to the eyelash mesh, it’s that you can’t rig to the eyelids, since they’re not rigged themselves – they’re a deformation of the mesh, just like the basic hand positions (fist, splayed etc) and things that you control with the body fat sliders. Perhaps at some point there will be the facility to make a mesh that can use this stuff. Not yet though.

Eyelashes are one of my weird obsessions and I’ve never been truly happy with the ones I have. These look really promising. Bookmarked.
Beautiful. I’m jealous, Berry…because I just blew my SL allotment I set for myself elsewhere…and my lashes (which are mesh) look bad in photos more often than not..and it takes forever to get something right.
I’m going to have to rob a bank and go SL-shopping again.
These are simply fabulous! I’ve been looking for quality mesh lashes to no avail, these are perfect!
