Meet My Friend Challenge

This week I decided to make an old series I’ve been doing on my blog into the Monday Meme. Basically for the past few years, every once in a while, I’ve been grabbing a male friend, photographing them and interviewing them by asking a bunch of goofy questions or just talking about them in general. You can see all of these posts in my Male Fashion Posts category which I will now refer to as the “Men on the grid” series. (I also made a flickr set for it) It’s been a great series and has given me a chance to showcase some beloved friends whom I thought had fantastic style and/or personalities and talents that everyone should know about.

Meme Instructions: Pick a friend, any friend, (male or female) take a couple of pictures of (or with) them and ask them a series of questions for a fun and lively post. They don’t need to be a blogger or content creator, just an SL resident. Don’t forget to share your link in the comments of this post!

For this challenge, I decided to interview the bratty Mr. Dain Rexen. I’ve known of Dain for quite a few years in Second Life but we never really befriended or interacted with each other until this past year. His hilarious trolling plurks and his fun loving nature is what caught my attention. He’s quite the charmer and somewhat mysterious so I thought he would be the perfect victim candidate for today’s post. While I was shooting these lovely images of him, I asked him a series of questions and here’s what he told me:

Strawberry Singh: Well hello there, looking good sir.
Dain Rexen: Thank you, I look like an Irish mobster with this hat.

Strawberry Singh: lol ok so tell me, how long have you been in sl?
Dain Rexen: 9 years and 9 months

Strawberry Singh: wowza! And all this time, what have you done?
Dain Rexen: Jack shit
Strawberry Singh: lol nothing? did you ever have a store? make stuff? blog? etc…
Dain Rexen: I kid, I do photography off and on, mostly when I’m inspired. I used to help an ex with her skin store when we were dating. I did all the advertisements and vendors for it. And I actually just released my new blog today.

Strawberry Singh: Oh? What’s the address of your blog and what’s it about?
Dain Rexen: Suggestedrules.com It’s a place where people can vent about annoying online habits. I have an upload system set up so anyone can submit posts.
Strawberry Singh: oh really, that should be interesting. I might have to submit some of my own
Dain Rexen: You definitely should, lol

Strawberry Singh: So what makes you keep logging back in to sl?
Dain Rexen: I’d have to say my friends. I’ve been off and on over the past 9 years for different lengths of time, and I only get bored with it when I’m not hanging out with anyone.

Strawberry Singh: So what do you think is the best thing about sl?
Dain Rexen: Trolling, definitely trolling. Especially the noobs with their penises hanging out of their pants and their unrelenting quest for sex.
Strawberry Singh: lol figures, and do you troll often? 😛 I see you trollin all over plurk
Dain Rexen: Usually during the weekend, we get drunk and head to the sex sims. I do voices and it’s great fun for all.
Strawberry Singh: lol cruel man
Dain Rexen: But we’re not very mean about it, just a bit of joking.
Strawberry Singh: I can’t imagine you ever being really mean.
Dain Rexen: If a guy is being an asshole to one of my lady friends, I’ll let him have it, but we’re pretty tame to those who don’t deserve it.

Strawberry Singh: What are some of your favorite stores to shop at in Second Life?
Dain Rexen: Kauna, Kal Rau, Lapointe and Bastchild, Wasabi Pills, Bad@zz Skins

Strawberry Singh: What has Second Life taught you?
Dain Rexen: It’s taught me how many different ways people can seek attention, well plurk did that actually. But I did meet the girl that taught me how to love unconditionally in a relationship through SL when I thought that I wasn’t capable of it. So I can give credit to SL for that.

Strawberry Singh: Is there anything you want to share about yourself? Something my readers might not know about you.
Dain Rexen: I was born with three penises and they surgically removed the smallest two.
Strawberry Singh: I don’t believe you.
Dain Rexen: I have scars
Strawberry Singh: Your pants are on fire.
Dain Rexen: Hmmm, something that’s true,that people don’t know about me….I’m pretty open, especially when asked
Strawberry Singh: I could tell by our conversation the other night.
Dain Rexen: Yeah, sometimes it bites me in the ass

Strawberry Singh: You’ve been in SL for 9 years, that’s a long time. I’m sure you’ve made a lot of friends and also lost contact with some. Is there anyone you miss that you’ve lost touch with?
Dain Rexen: My mom
Strawberry Singh: lol FINE DON’T ANSWER THE QUESTION!
Dain Rexen: I mean your mom
Strawberry Singh: hahahahahahaha YOU ARE A BRAT
Dain Rexen: And Gabrielle Sinatra
Strawberry Singh: I miss her too, a lot. <3 Dain Rexen: Yeah :/ But we move on, that's all we can do. We did continue chatting and go off onto other subjects, but I think I'll end it here because it's interesting to see someone that usually is a bratty troll get a bit sentimental. <3 Thank you so much Dain for taking the time to pose for me. It was great to get to know you a bit better and hopefully we can have one of our long chats again soon, I had fun! I know this week’s meme is a bit of a hard one because it takes a bit of effort to grab someone else and photo and interview them. However, you have all week and even after that, there is no end date to any of my memes and challenges so I do hope you guys get a chance to do this as it will be great to get to know other residents and put them on the spot by asking all sorts of weird questions.
