Happy Foundation Day!
Back in October, my wonderful but evil friend, Mr. Winter Jefferson very kindly emailed me to wish me a happy Diwali. I responded politely and said thank you very much sir however I don’t really celebrate Diwali because it is mainly a hindu holiday and I’ve never been to India or really known anyone else in my area that celebrated it. Then he responded to me all harsh and mean (like usual) and said “FINE I WAS JUST BEING NICE, NOT LIKE YOU EVER WISH ME A HAPPY FOUNDATION DAY!” To which I responded, “WHAT IN THE WORLD IS FOUNDATION DAY?”
Of course he never told me but I looked it up and made a note of it in my calendar so when June 1st rolled around I would not forget to wish my beloved Mr. Jefferson a wonderfully happy and fun-filled Foundation Day, which is now apparently known as Western Australia Day. So, now that it is midnight June 1st in Western Australia, Happy Western Australia Day to all the Western Australians! (Betcha can’t say that 10 times fast)
Also, I not only want to blog about it, I also want to share one of my most favorite Australian songs, which I totally think should be their national anthem. (BTW, do they even HAVE a national anthem? :P) Anyhow, here it is, the bestest song ever – Waltzing Matilda! <3

When I first saw this headline in my Google Reader, I thought this was going to be a post about bras and girdles and the like. My mother always said, “A good outfit always starts with good foundation or you might as well not wear it” or something sage like that — I think she was just trying to get me to wear a push-up bra more often, actually, since another favorite saying of hers was, “Get some good boobs and men won’t notice your other flaws.”
In any case – YES. Happy Foundation Day to those who are celebrating Western Australia or bras and Spanx, whatever works. 🙂
